I've been a MetroCon goer for about 15 years. It was my first ever convention and an absolute favorite. I have noticed as the years go on the artists alley has become way more popular then the vendors hall. That seems to be the case everywhere honestly, and I'm happy about it. My friends and I definitely commented how many more artists where taking spots on the vendor side this year. Also, vendor booths you've seen for years and years are suddenly not coming back, so I wonder if business is just getting beat out by small artists.

I'm curious what you mean by first come first serve being harder for newer artists? I feel like it's the opposite? In Australia, almost all of our conventions have a juried artist alley now and the few that are first come first serve are very expensive. A lot of artists here have been talking about how it's impossible for new artists to get into artist alley because of it. Whereas artists who have done conventions for a while will have the merch variety, quality, and portfolio to be able to successfully get into most juried cons and be able to justify more expensive FCFS cons. Might be a difference between Aus and US and since we have fewer cons are juries are tougher maybe?

omg lol i want to stay i went to the first metrocon in st pete. before they moved it to tampa. it was either the first or second one. pretty sure ive still got the book and stuff, ill have to look. its so big now.

I'm newer to artist alleys, I applied for metro con but got on the waitlist, my first artist alley will be in august in north carolina!~ Usually i'm only able to do small markets where I live, But i've been trying my best to get into more cons! I love your videos, they help alot

Ah nuts, I was so out to lunch that I didn’t even realize you were at Metro. As another FL artist who only started selling this summer, your videos have been both extremely informative and encouraging. I’m so bummed I didn’t get to meet you 😭, especially since i was right behind TT’s table and I didn’t even notice when you dropped by 💀

MetroCon is an amazing con… I wished I was there this year but I have to agree, their applications do suck because this year, about 10 minutes or less the applications opened up and it already filled up so quickly! 😢

@@Lalaineartgeek The sad thing is, it’s always been first come first serve… but I think this year and last was the first time it ever filled up so fast compared to how it was back in 2019? But I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to come for 2024… but i can’t wait to actually meet you at TBCC next week lol

I have both good and bad memories because of Metrocon. It's a fun con to attend but horrible to volunteer for.

That gentleman shouldn't of been harassed, stalked, and have his name smeared without solid proof.

I don't really have anything else to say about the situation other than what other artists have been saying about him and the fact that con security were only doing their jobs. I do agree tho that if he were innocent, he didn't deserve to be stalked or harassed. However, I was never a part of that conversation and I don't know what's true and what's not true, so I can't say anything more about it on my end.

@Lalaineartgeek the artist who started the post on twitter is a mutual, and made a apology saying he's been cleared, and to not mispread information like she did. She hopes to apologize to him face to face for starting a witch hunt without proof and not just listening to others opinions without it.

Yeah I honestly wasn't sure why either, but it worked out either way because my booth buddy brought her own table anyway!

Part of the price of the booth is going towards the table so I'm guessing they just didn't want it to be unfair for the others who paid full price for the booth and would only get one table.
