I got to disagree by just interjecting here. You do not need thousands of dollars worth of lighting to grow plants. A few simple plants with simple lighting you can have great success. Live plants also help with nitrates. I usually love learning from OSA but this seems like pushing fake plants. I think a simple approach is to just keep simple. C02 and super spectrum lights are ideal but I recommend to anyone new get easy beginner plants, you are correct don’t plant ton of plants and add fish in new aquarium. It’s like wine , all in due time ! Thanks OSA !

I appreciate the feedback, this video was meant to help the brand new hobbyist decide what type of decor is best for their level of knowledge and level of experience. I do agree that a low tech tank can be achieved with an inexpensive lighting system, But as I mentioned it can pose issues to the beginner hobbist not knowing how to properly set a light schedule, nutrient dosing, etc. Not every beginner has the ability to ask questions to a knowledgeable LFS about what type of plants do well in a low tech tank that aren’t prone to algae, and quite frankly most will want to pack the tank with fish. As I explained posing the issue of high nutrients in a low tech tank without the plants having enough available CO2 to photosynthesize for the entire light spectrum creating intense algae issues that become difficult to clean or fix. The main point of the video was to showcase how easy it is to clean artificial plants and have a nice beautiful aquarium for someone new !

By far the worst advice I’ve ever heard in my 42 years in this hobby. You forgot to tell them to add a sponge bob pineapple 🍍 house and a pirate shipwreck bubbler. 😂 So if you’re lazy and don’t want to research anything for yourself and don’t care about the health of your fish go plastic….smh
