You are right, Sreelakhsmi. It should be "The famous surgeon and dancer, Ila, is my sister" because we are referring to only one person, Ila, here. It has been explained in another video.

Yes. This usually depends on the first sound of the word that comes after it. When the word after "the" begins with a consonant sound, people usually use /ðə/duh. When the word after "the" begins with a vowel sound, people usually use /ði/ thee.
