Thank you for this video. I had my first job today collecting 12 tons of biscuits for export at Mcvities. I did my best to copy you and it when well!! Got the correct angle then got in front of it asap. Given me confidence for tomorrow.... Happy Days👍

When to stop. Look closely at around 1,51 onwards and you will see the truck do a small rebound. This is when the trailer comes into contact with the rubber bump stops on the warehouse door. This is perfectly normal procedure. Also a lot of trailers have a sprung bar going the width of the trailer at the rear to prevent damage to the trailer when being loaded or unloaded with a forklift truck. Warehouse forklift drivers just go in till the truck hits the trailer then thats far enough.

Hi Chris, thanks for this great video. Would you have any tips for a new driver on how to improve reversing, especially between two wagons. Do you get as close as possible to the one you see in the mirror?

marcel-nine-one-one, you're an idiot, it takes a lot of practice to become as good as the guy in the video. To suggest someone change careers just because they haven't got the knack for reversing is moronic and unhelpful. I suggest you upload a video of your silky driving skills and show us all 'how it's done'.

Pointless. There are plenty of videos of good reversing on YT. I don't drive a HGV. I do get stuck behind them all the time though when they are reversing so I know what a pain it is when the driver is useless and holding up traffic in both directions, hence my original statement.

  • @emmams5

marcel-nine-one-one, so you don't actually know what you're talking about? You're just having a good old bitch about the odd occasion when you're day is held up for two minutes by a reversing HGV? What a precious snowflake you are. Get behind the wheel of an artic and try reversing around a corner, then we might take your comments seriously.

Michael Macluskie Reversing an old style drawbar is harder , most modern equipment is easier with different couplings and of course no power steering and heavier clutches gearboxes etc which is why most had front hitches as well .

  • @michaelmacluskie6089

All our wagon and drags have hitches front and rear....and not difficult at all to reverse once your practicing is complete...."A" Frame or straight bar is the same....If you are really dedicated to your job as a Trucker then nothing is an obstacle ( The difficult we will do at once...the impossible takes a little longer )....but I have noticed now a days that all drivers come from a class room with piles of literature and no interest or Gumption..its just a job for todays new drivers..also the trucks today are so easy to drive thats why you see non skilled truckers behind the wheel.
