Arthas... We need a movie series about him.

A trilogy would be best. Start with his birth, invincible, training to become a Paladin. And culminate with the Culling of Stratholme, claiming Frostmourne, returning to Lordaeron & killing Terenas. For the second we could have his whole campaign where he wreaks havoc over Lordaeron, invades Quel'thalas (whole movie arc on its own), fights Sylvanas, rezzes Kel'thuzad and ascending as the Lich King. Then as the third, they could focus on WoTLK’s story, as justice is brought to Icecrown itself, wrapping everything up beautifully. (Death Knights at Light’s Hope chapel, Tirion and the Argent Crusade, Jaina coping with her past love, the return of Varian his childhood friend). God it’s so amazing I wish they’d do it somewhat like that. It’d be a masterpiece.

@@Athelarius Reading this made me cry because of how fucking perfect this would be. It's almost like the Star Wars prequels, or maybe the entire saga up to 6. The first 3 would be leading up to his ascendance as the Lich King, and the next 3 would be the champions of Azeroth rising up to assault Northrend & Icecrown to dethrone him. May seem too unoriginal like they're copying Star Wars, but I don't think 3 movies will be enough to tell his story. Maybe at least 4

And consider that Arthas basically purged an entire city, and no one is mad at him, not even Terenas? "Oh hello my son, you have disappeared for quite a while in Northrend, and taking half of the fleet of Lordearon. Also, what is up with those reports of you purging Stratholme and disbanding Uther's and his knights from service?" Like.. come on man, Arthas should have been imprisoned by that.

Arthas was a great character. The fallen hero archetype makes for the best villains. Especially when you sympathize with the original goal and witnessed the point where they went too far. Great Story. He's right up there with darth vader as one of the most impressive villains in pop culture.

No idea what they made of him later. I played wow for the first 5 years or so up to the point where we conquered icecrown and defeated the lich king. Seemed like a good point to end the story. I agree that overusing the same trope will ruin it. If every other new story tries to create a darth vader, it becomes silly.

Arthas to this day has the best music. I've been playing since the 90s and it's always been amazing. The first 10 years of wow were imo perfect especially if you played through the 90s RTS.

it really is amazing to see that the only new Cinematic that was made (Illidan vs Arthas) was in so much lower quality then the original clips that was made all those years ago... really showes the lack of pasion thats putt into this

When you read the book "Arthas - Rise of the Lich King" that scene where he goes up to the throne, shatters Nerzuls Prison and crowns himself, Arthas last thoughts before sitting down the throne are overwhelming chilling

The Lich King, one of the most tragic and one of the scariest villains in lore.

Arthas is by far my favorite character from all Blizzard games. He has the coolest look anf such an interesting background.

There's only one person who has a more sad and tragic story than Arthas does. And that's Anakin. Arthas deserves, no, he needs a movie series about himself from the beginning to the end.

Arthas is one of the badass characters in gaming community.

Hiya Folks! This is a tribute I wanted to dedicate to Arthas Menethil, Crown Prince of Lordaeron, one and only Lich King. Long live the King! And may we one day get a proper Warcraft Movie based on Arthas and his story (one of Blizzard’s most iconic & beloved characters, and defining character arcs). A time when passion and love were ever-present in their works. Bless.) As you’re all aware the cinematics for Warcraft 3: Reforged are sadly the same except they’ve been a bit remastered in quality and audio. (Just goes to show how EXTREMELY WELL they were made for their time to still hold up, even in 2020).

To be honest, i was expecting the cinematic quality of WoW in the remastered version. Even though the Older version is a jewel of its time but it did show its age. So the remastered could have used the cinematic quality like WotLK trailer standard.

I understand, but I do believe they mentioned multiple times they wouldn't redo the original cinematics except for slight visual/audio enhancements. What I am disappointed though is that the in-game cutscenes they showcased didn't make it in like the Stratholme Purge with Jaina, Uther and Arthas. That one I can't defend. I hope later down the line they patch them in, I have faith.

@@Athelarius it doesn't look good at Blizzard since they are having internal problem with Activision firing good staff and then replace them with newer staff but cheaper salary. So i don't expect much from Blizzard nowaday but i would love to be wrong. Hell, i would like Blizzard to prove me wrong by providing outstanding content worthy of Blizzard name.

Arthas…the dictionary definition of the “road to hell is paved in good intentions”.

Arthas Menethil, my favourite lore + tragedy of Illidan. WC3 was really something unique.

The ending cinematic for the Human & Scourge Campaign is amazing the HD really shines, well done Blizzard! But the fight was hm,......kind of plastic, yes Illidan use his demon form ok, but it's not done yet, we wanted that but I still think some tweaking is needed, Good job adding Wrath intro fits perfectly,

I agree, even decades later these remain the absolute masterpieces as they were then. It reflects the love and passion the old team had and it showed in the themes, designs and memorable dialogues. Really hope we one day get a trilogy for his story, culminating with the events of WoTLK. But only if they do it right (no cutting corners). Or if not, at least one full movie, capturing the events. (I'm speaking about the original cinematics, not the Arthas vs. illidan one. That on'es just...special)

I think warcraft was one of the first games that had mind blowing cinematics like this. Honestly I atleast thought at that time it was soo out of this world

Arthas you were my childhood hero, my rolemodel also the first character to make me care about the story of a game. I will never forgive what the current WoW dev team did to you, I will recognize the sacrifices. Arthas did nothing wrong, he had to make difficult decisions without looking back, for the sake of everyone as a king should.

This is the closest to a full movie of Arthas I've ever seen. You my man did the thing!

I love the idea of alternate theories. I still think Illidan was more powerful, just more reckless I guess. Arthas was the theme of the game, and was meant to become the Lich King, so plot armor and all that. Personally I would have loved to see that cinematic become one based on strategic tactics, with tensions and weight in their swings. But it is what it is I guess.

not a wow player or have any interest in the game, but the story of Arthas made such an impact its hard to ignore till this day

Any notice that by the time you get Frostmourn its actually less powerful than your original weapon

Yeah, gameplay wise it's a big downgrade, no divine shield, no armor buff, temp revive. Paladin is better, if they at least let Arthas keep attack boost and chaos damage but even then, that divine shield is op.

Arthas is the Anikin Skywalker of WoW. Change my mind.

@Ross Pate Heres a twist on it: Nerzul was the big dog of the scourge, no arthas. Arthas succeeded him by killing Nerzul and child arthas' soul to become the true evil he was until we killed him in ICC.

Warcraft died with wow. Blizzard died with heroes of the storm. Starcraft kept Blizzard relevant, until HotS came in and slowly died.

While the world freaked out about game of thrones, some of us sly smirked, knowing we experienced something far more epic than they ever could. Becoming the death knight, striving to become the lich king. This, Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Vampire the Masquerade Etc. As a kid who LOVED undead stuff (probably because of ghostbusters), I was born in a golden age.

I once thought Arthas was angry at the Lich King for what happened to him, that's why he destroyed it. When he wore the Helm of Domination I was like "bruh?"

Sometimes I wonder if Arthas was still himself in his heart the whole time. A paladin who wants nothing but the best for his people. And yet he was taken by the lich. Committing atrocities unimaginable to all the races, all the while feeling the immense shame and guilt in doing so, with absolutely no control over your wrongdoings. That truly is a tragedy... that's in my opinion why Arthas may have been so grateful for his defeat.

so they made us pay all that extra money for the remake of the original game and they passed all the remodeling to some off band company who makes all the models look like something from raid shadow legend which is far from the style we all know blizzard to use. and the only cinematic they updated was the teaser trailer which while looking much better uses those nasty looking small mouthed orcs.

It's about arthas, a guy who got possessed by a sword he needed to kill some kind of evil type of demon . But he didint need to do it, his armies were enough .Arthas is obviously inspired from King Arthur, even the names are similar. But he used a sword which was very diferent from excalibur cuz it eventually changed him . This sword wasn't given by the lady of the lake, but by a monstrous being . From a character like Arthur this arthas eventually became like mordred, a dread lord .

When I watched frozen throne ending cinematic. I thought that does he even remember what he have done. He killed his father, uther, muradin,betrayed his peoples for whom he started his campaign and finally what did he thought about jaina, whom he loved most.

The cinematic where Arthes kills his own father i never could tell what The bodyguards were but i just realize that both of them are carrying different kinds of spears Plus they look like they have more practical gear on rather than the bulky iconic World of Warcraft warrior gear.
