Art Deco Design Stained Glass Making
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hope everyone's had a great week. Here's one of my last completed projects before I managed to make a mess of my arm 😂. A lovely little set of funky blue Art Deco door panels. In a Frank Lloyd Wright style and made ready for encapsulation inside double glazed units. I do love the blue streaky semi-opaque glass! 🤓
🦾 Recovery update:- the arm is healing well, gaining alittle more movement everyday. I'm aiming to get back to some light glass cutting next week 🎉

I salute your workmanship! Art Deco is always my fav. Why the black grate polish? what does it do? hwo on earth did someone find that scrubbing cement and black grate made a better product????
@LightLeadedDesigns

Back hundreds of years ago when these windows were made they wouldn't of have the same black grate polish that we have now but it works and absolute treat to darken that lead work 🖤🖤

Another lovely piece Jan. A question about the Csme though. How do you adjust for the thickness of it when you plan your cuts? Is the lines on your pattern the width of the came per sey?
@LightLeadedDesigns
22 күн бұрын
Exactly 🖤🖤🖤 I cut to the inside of the black line 🫶
Very beautiful. Question: When you are cementing, how do you fix the workpiece to the bench? Is it a big magnet or a weight?
@LightLeadedDesigns
27 күн бұрын
It's a heavy weight I use to stop it sliding around 🤓🫶
Looks great Jan, can I ask what thickness of marker do you use on your plan? Thank you
@LightLeadedDesigns
22 күн бұрын
It's around 1.5mm thick 🩵💚🧡❤️💛🫶
When you first apply the black stove polish the lead appears gray but when you show the final product it’s now black. Does it get darker over time or do you apply more than what you initially show? Its beautiful
@LightLeadedDesigns

Less is more with the black grate polish, it requires a fair amount of polishing but it does blacken nicely 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

Have these windows always used that cement step? I had an original glazed front door in my last house that needed serious attention and thought the glass was only held in place by the lead cane. And what is the cement made of?

Handling lead..isnt that risky?
Just a silly question. Isn't lead supposed to be toxic AF? You're touching it with bare hands. No risk of any health issues long term? I'm just curious about it.
@LightLeadedDesigns
13 күн бұрын
It is toxic but the main real risk is inhalation of dusty lead particles. So that's working with the old crumbling windows that's the big risk.. All my lead is new clean stuff and to be honest the actual lead working is only a small part of the job compared with all the other processes.. Saying this I've always had regular blood tests at the doctors to make sure my blood levels are very normal. Been doing it this way for just over 27 years now 🧡💛💚
Gorgeous work, but are you protecting yourself against heavy metal dust? It is not only the glass finish that needs attention!
