Good day, can you power the Clean Box pro with a USB power bank and a DC 5V to DC 12V step up converter / adapter?

Not yet,@@monophreak Last week, I sent an email to ART (the manufacturer) and they haven't replied. I guess the next step is Reddit but what community?...Guitars? Live Sound?...

Any benefit in running line out from Focusrite Scarlett into the XLR on the CleanBox, and then out of the XLR to a pro audio power amp. I want to use a +4 dbu pro line level going into my power amp to get some better headroom and dynamic range.

Hi, great review by the way. I have a dj controller with only one RCA out unbalanced and a pair of studio monitors with TRS and XLR balanced. I'm currently using RCA to TS cables and it's picking up some electrical type noise. Only slight but annoying nonetheless. Would this device reduce interference. Many thanks.

Thanks for the upload, well explained. one question, though - If I plug in a n unbalanced RCA from a Home Theater receiver's SUB pre out, does the Clean Box split the signal into 4 outputs? (2 balanced XLR and 2 unbalanced RCA). Thank and Happy New Year!

I have a favor to ask. Could you explain the wires that would be used on each side of the box? I noticed one side has female xlr and the other side had male xlr. What are the other ports?

i need to take my avr sub pre out to a crown amp. if i use the rca inputs can i then use the rca outputs? another question would be is there a benefit going from the rca to xlr balanced outputs? if so what is the advantage? i am running 2 18" dayton ultimax subs in denovo cube boxes. my amp just for reference is a crown ce4000. which is a killer amp btw. the issue im having is i have to turn my avr damn near all the way up in order to get any somewhat decent output out of the subs. i know i need something like this to fix my problem. the avr needs a signal boost for sure. any help is appreciated

How do! In trouble shooting mode at home. Recently bought 2 monoprice m215s running off a onkyo rz3100. They replaced def tech supercube reference and trinity. The monoprice subs are drastically underperforming and im hearing this thing is being used to get better (gains). Is this safe to plug directly into the subs?

I'm receiving some noise when my Rodecaster Pro 2 to my Atem Mini Extreme. I'm hoping this little gadget fixes my problem. I'll report back if it works. Great job with the video. You gave me more confidence attempting to solve my problem. Onward, AW

You don't need one, On atem mini you can change line level to mic level either way at the settings.

So I've got KRK Rokit 5 g4 studio monitors hooked up to my krk sub S8.4 that goes into my audio interface via balanced cables. Now I have a Pioneer DJ controller collecting dust that I wanted to try out with my setup, but after plugging the RCA output of the controller to the subs RCA unbalanced input there was loud noise. Is this simply the different power ratings that is the cause? And also can you even use both the interface and DJ controller at the same time? (The speakers are plugged in on the interface) Is this product the solution? This shit is not easy hahah

The noise issue sounds more like a grounding issue. Try plugging in all your gear to the same power strip to see if it goes away. You might have success getting rid of the noise with this box, but usually mismatched impedance noise is not really loud, just kind of loud and sounds kind of weak. Regarding your signal chain question, I don’t know what interface you have, but I would try to plug the dj controller into two inputs on the interface, then turn the mix knob on the interface to half way so you can hear the dj equipment and your computers audio at the same time. Hope this helps

@@darkdreamstudios7933 Thanks for the reply, I think it's most likely impedance noise. I have an headphone amp on the desk which i turned off in case of interference, but still noise. Initially the noise let me down, but then I tried DJing with it plugged in on the subs RCA input, and it sends audio like it should to the sub and speakers! If I turned a song on, the noise was not that dominating, but not preferable. So I guess with this box some of that noise could go away. I think I will use it straight into RCA for just learning for now, so I dont spend extra money if I happen to not DJ much.

Try to find it used on eBay or Craigslist. They don’t go bad, just a metal box with metal electronics. You might get one with noisy pots but that’s a easy fix.

Hi mate. What's the default position of the output level knobs? I should stay full right toget max volume?

  • @darkdreamstudios7933

    @darkdreamstudios7933

This is a guess, but I think this thing has some gain to it to help boost the signal a little if needed, so I would guess utility gain is around 7 (or 3 o’clock). I keep mine back off from full volume to avoid additional noise caused by the box’s internal amplifier, but either way I think the noise is negligible

@@darkdreamstudios7933 Would be nice some advice from the manufacturer. Sadly there isnt. Others would say that knob is only limiting the output, so full up is considered passrhrough 0db gain

Ok so if I have a dj mixer with only xlr outputs and I want to hook it up to speakers with rca inputs, I can hook the xlr cables from the dj mixer into the CleanBox xlr input and then output the audio with the rca outputs on the CleanBox into the speakers.

Out of mixer into ‘balanced in’ on art cleanbox, output of unbalanced art cleanbox into camera input. That way the sound gets recorded to your camera. If your getting distortion either turn it down or more likely you have my instructions above reversed.

What's there to show? Audio in = audio out from an audible point of view. Maybe if it was an fx pedal or something I would understand but this is just a utility device that doesn't effect the audible sound if used correctly.
