Amanda Ihlestedt plays in Sweden´s WNT together with Blackstenius and Hurtig. As a swedish fan of our WNT it is a bit difficult for me to decide which team I should favour in this match ....but Arsenal is anyway the worthy winner of this match.

Linkoping played very well, it's sad they got eliminated, the draw was not fair, there are many weak teams out there for Arsenal... Linkoping should have been a top seed just like Arsenal.

They tried their best and created a few chances to score. Maybe with a better striker they would do well.

1st game back so everyone was a lil rusty plus with new players jelling. Overall a good game and great result. Hopefully with a bit more practice sessions, we'll be able to fine tune our efforts and our accuracy in front of goal.

Foord,Maanum,Russo,Lacasse,Walti and the incomparable Kim Little would be best front 6 in WSL this season. Frida Maanum injury permitting would be the player to watch again this season ...looking already better than last season.

Linkopings are hosting the mini tournament for the this group. Arsenal are classed as the home team as they have the higher coefficient.

What a totally ridiculous penalty to give, but at least justice was done, by it being saved. If that is the standard of refereeing in the Woman's Game, in the most prestigious European Cup Competition there is, then the Woman's Game is in big trouble and if thet is the best Arsenal Ladies can do against a Side such as Linköping, then they might as well give up the Season now. A better Team, playing like that and Arsenal would have lost this game.

Can't really speak to the penalty because there was so little footage. But the referee in general was very poor for this match. Flubbed it. Missed or miscalled a ton of stuff. For an early season match she was the dodgiest of anybody on the pitch...

@@bd9531i agree that on here there is not enough footage to really judge, but I watched the whole game and 99% of Referees, Men, or Women, would not have given it. For a start, it was from her own Team Player, so she was certainly not expecting it and secondly, it was going away from play, so why on earth would she deliberately handball it. You can see by the surprised expression on her face, that she was not expecting it and why should she. There was simply no advantage what so ever for her to gain, by handballing it. Personally I think had VAR been available, she would have taken a look at it and rescinded her penalty decision. I also think that until the Woman's Game introduces VAR, especially in important Competition, the Woman's Game cannot be taken seriously and is no better than an English Championship, Div.1, 2, etc. I still cannot believe, when you consider how much money is at stake, by getting out of the Championship, that they still have no VAR. There were so many refereeing mistakes made last Season in the Championship, that VAR would have been able to rectify and even in the little amount of games gone this Season, lots of mistakes have been made. Mind you, there have certainly been some with VAR, so until the human element is rectified VAR will always be a joke. I also agree with you, considering this was a CL Game, the Refereeing standard was very poor and did the Women's Game no favor's at all.

And I agree: I don't think either Arsenal or Linköping deserve to be playing an elimination game with this standard of refereeing & pitch for such an important title... and then so early in the UWCL & Arsenal season. They need a better format for "qualification" (early rounds) and they need to properly resource it so the officiating & organisation isn't so sub-standard and unfair to the early participants.

@@bd9531 Well put and I agree with you 100%. They did deserve better Officiating and this is not good enough and as you say, especially with such an important Competition. I also agree with you that the format for progression into the Group Stages, sucks and some of the pairings were a complete waste of time and those with the knowledge could see that before a ball was kicked. 9:0, 6:0, 4:0, 5:0, 6:0, ,7:0, another 9:0, 8, 6,6,.4,4,5 and yet another 8, all these were predictable, so why bother. They were games the better Clubs could have done without and certainly not fair on the lesser Clubs, or their Supporters, as it was all basically an humiliation. Unlike in the Men's Game, where upsets can and do happen, when top Clubs play the lesser so, in the Woman's Game there are none. Perfect example, Dinamo-BGU vs Anina-SS, now some have never heard of them, but those that know do and if you had tried to get a bet on Dinamo winning, you would have lost more than you put on. To make it worth your while and get 3 to 1 odds on, you would have had to predict a result of 10:0 and it finished 9:0, which tells you all you need to know really. The format must be changed, with much better officiating, because at the moment, along with Luis Rubiales vs Jenni Hermoso, it is the biggest joke in football and that is not a good look for the Woman's Game, that wants to be taken seriously and on par with the Men..

Sorry but when I know the score I don't watch the game .

Females get 12 minutes of highlights but men only get 2 minute clips... ridiculous... men deserve the right to have as many minutes in the highlight reel than women. I'm putting my foot down!! Men deserve more
