Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal could be about to enjoy a successful season after defeating Manchester City 3-0 to win The FA Community Shield.
Strikes from Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud ensured Arsenal followed up May's FA Cup Final triumph with another Wembley win to clinch the first silverware of the campaign.
Captain Arteta played alongside summer recruits Alexis Sanchez and Calum Chambers and agreed that his side are looking in good shape after an “outstanding” spell in the opening period.
"In the first half we had 20 or 25 minutes where we were outstanding and we passed the ball around very quickly and looked a threat every time,” the Spaniard told BT Sport.
"We've got pace up front now and it makes a big difference so we're really happy to get another trophy."
Having lifted The Shield, Arteta is now eyeing further glory this season.
“I think we're looking very good with some very good signings so that's only going to strengthen the team,” he said.
"When you look at the bench and all the options we have to change the game, as I said, I hope it's going to be a good season. We ended last season well with The FA Cup so hopefully we'll continue well.”
Arteta’s manager, Arsene Wenger, also added his praise of his side’s first-half performance - and acknowledged the fact that his squad is looking stronger than it has for some time.
"I would say overall it was a united team performance and it was a first half of quality, togetherness and good movement," said the Gunners boss.
"It's very difficult to compare [with past squads] but yes, in the last two years I've been speaking about big transfers. In the years before that we always lost big transfers so [the current policy] has now strengthened the squad."

The commentator trying to take the credit away from Giroud's strike by constantly mentioning a "deflection" when there was none to begin with smh. Same as during the FA cup final when Cazorla's free kick was down to "poor goalkeeping"

Always have to try and talk down an Arsenal screamer, no defection or close to one! It's a wounder strike by Giroud nothing less than it!

@@davidheaven2961Sczeney won the golden glove he was very decent early in his career,only missing piece was a striker Giroud finished as striker with most missed chances 1v1 the season Leister won the league and we bottled and that's an actual fact you can even check.We were very decent everywhere else

OHHH the strikers we had with Sonogo,Bendtner Giroud.And Fans were not happy with 4th place and FA cup with such beautiful gameplay. How we are underdogs for top 4 and FA cup even. I miss wenger.
Great Goals with fluent fast passing. Does anyone else feel bad for Sonogo. He used his pace and strength to set up Ramsey's fine finish and all he wanted was some recognition or to celebrate with Ramsey which Ramsey seems to strangely avoid. Sanchez too.

What a brilliant encounter this was and what a performance from Arsenal. We always play well when we're fresh but the lack of Defensive control and injuries have really pulled us back so far. Hope we could at least repeat even half of this performance when we face them on Sunday.
