I have both ARS VS-8 and VS-9 and prefer the VS-9 because it worked better out of the box, it fits my hand better and it allows me to cut thicker branches. I can't remember what the max recommended branch thickness is but it can definitely cut anything I throw at it, unlike my Felco. If I try to cut thick branches with my Felco 9, the screws become loose after a single cut and it needs to be readjusted every time which is a waste of time. I've also compared sharpness on both and there is no comparison to be made, ARS is so much superior that my 1 year old ARS with no maintenance cuts better than a freshly sharpened Felco. As you pointed out, there might be quality issues with the ARS VS-8, mine also needed adjustments out of the box but it was fine after that. There are counterfeit ARS secateurs on Amazon though, so be mindful if you buy one, I had to get a refund on my first pair because they were obviously fake even though the packaging looked legitimate. On a different note, the sharpest pruning shears I own are a model from Okatsune, the build quality is great but there's no bumper on the handles so they're not suitable for long-term use in my opinion. I keep them for my houseplants and bonsai.

I agreed. My ARS is still very sharp. Thanks for the comment. Please feel free to subscribe.
Tôi cũng có cây kéo cắt cành giống của bạn... nó thật tuyệt vời ❤
Great guy... very intelligent and makes a lot of sense. I really enjoyed the video. I like the ARS and ordering now. I have no liking of Fiskars.... I have tried a few pairs and all have gone in the trash. Thank you for taking your time to share your experience and thoughts.
What is the different between the real and fake (package, special mark, etc..)?
What is the price of ars vs8 vs8z and hp vs8z

I bought one about a month ago and mine has the same problem. Seems like an on-going quality issue.

Not sure if they designed this purposely or just bad quality control.

@@SeahorseWorkshop Ars official site has photos with the same desing flaw so it purposely made that way probably. I think all sizes (7,8,9) use the same counterblade (biggest spike on vs7 and smallest one on vs9). Even with its flaws i prefer it to felco. I have ars 8z & 9z and also felco 8 & 7 (rotating handle). Ars probably wont last as long as felcos but locking mechanism is just too much comfartable to me. And saves a lot of time when you have switch between pruner, handsaw and lopper. Also its being ambidextorus is a plus for me.

@@cikolataceri I looked at the Felco as well. I bought the ARS because of the locking mechanism. You think the Felco will last longer than the ARS?

@@SeahorseWorkshop Yes, probably. But everyone uses their tools differently and also cares for them differently. I am a professional farmer/orchardist and while I use electric pruners when i am pruning all day I still carry a manual pruner on me. I also use manual tools on my personal garden. My 7+ months old Ars just look like new. And it will for years probably. Even though i use it more than most people. But my mother literally abuses her tools. Doesn't clean, tries to cut too thick branches and then twists her pruner, cuts in soil (dirt and small rocks around the blade), etc. She has a 5-7 years old felco thats torture to use. I could replace the parts missing(spring) and sharpen or replace the blade but i bought a ars as a gift. And after 3 months of use there is a small notch/chip on the blade. Felcos blades may be dull but doesn't have a chip. But what really matters is ergonomics really, both brands are professional grade. And if you got 2 years of use out of Fiskars your Ars can easily last more than 5 years, and changing the parts isn't that hard if you want to extend the lifetime. Just use them properly and take care of them. And if you ever decide to buy Felco you should know that there are fake ones. So buy from a reputable seller.
