What a beautiful stadium. Kansas City maintains their stadiums very well and it shows the pride that the city has for its teams. I'm a diehard Raiders fan and I must say that Kansas City has two of the best venues in all pro sports. I always enjoyed going to Raiders games in Oakland and the game day experience was awesome but the city of Oakland never maintained the Oakland Coliseum over the years and now are on the verge of losing the Oakland Athletics and it's a crying shame. Anyway the Raiders have a beautiful stadium in Las Vegas where they will be for years to come. Arrowhead is a top notch facility and has one of the best game day experiences Chiefs fans could ask for.

@@hangingwithkrisley I actually read on the Chiefs website back in 2009 (50th anniversary of the AFL) that the Vikings, who were known as the Minneapolis Vikings at the time, never played a down of AFL football, and that's why the Raiders even exist. as to why the Vikings 1) started in 1961 and 2 are called the Minnesota Vikings, not Minneapolis, that wasn't explained, but still, it's interesting.

In 1969 my dad took me to my first Chiefs game at old dilapidated Municipal Stadium at 22nd and Brooklyn. We brought our own coffee in a thermos with the screw on cup lid. I had my first taste of coffee (pre-mixed by mom with cream and sugar). In the 90’s I had season tickets (Peterson/Schottenheimer era). We used to tailgate in the sliver of grass in parking lot D. Man, have we come a long way in 60 years! This stadium today is something else!

@@hangingwithkrisley well, I’ve been a huge lifetime chiefs fan ever since 89-90 when I started playing football in junior high and started watching the chiefs play with my grandfather around that time. In all of the time I had been a chiefs fan, I had never once had the opportunity to see the chiefs play live at Arrowhead until this season when the chiefs played and beat the cowboys. I was in the seventh row, on the 20 yard line. Fun fact, I had a moment while I was watching the game, and as I witnessed the LED boards, they were saying “Get Loud” for the crowd to scream to cheer against the cowboys offense. As a contrast, I had decided to start screaming something totally different and started screaming “Loud Noises!” Like from Steven Correll, from the Anchorman movies. The guy next to me just bust up laughing and we were screaming it together. Almost shortly there after, the LED boards changed and went from saying “get loud” and started saying “loud noises” and it stayed there for the rest of the game. Maybe it was a coincidence, but there is a part of me that feels like someone up in that booth heard me and played off of what I was doing. That made my whole night. Such an awesome night.

@@hangingwithkrisley oh wow, then you started watching the chiefs play whenever we had Marcus Allen and Joe Montana, and that was the last decent playoff run that we had where we were eliminated in the AFC championship by the bills in Buffalo and pretty much that was the beginning of our 20+ year playoff drought where we did not get another post season win until Andy Reid. That’s when I was channeling my inner Sgt. Ernie Bilko in the movie Sgt. Bilko, whenever he was fake punishing the overweight guy in his platoon to do push ups and he couldn’t get up. And I was saying about the chiefs, “come on guys, we’re going for one, one.” Meaning that we needed to get passed one hurdle at a time, and that was what it was going to take.

@@hangingwithkrisley thanks for taking a moment to read and respond to my comments, greatly appreciated. when i comment directly to the video creator it's really a coin flip as to whether the creator responds or not lol. -the part about mr. hunt building a house within the stadium was hilarious yet really unique and cool too. -i really hope kc gets to host a super bowl, i'm sure that the city would do a great job and it would be another marketing opportunity to show, literally the world, that arrowhead is an amazing nfl facility from the 70's, that can hold its own today and tomorrow. -really nice that kc and jackson county, in conjunction with the hunts, have maintained arrowhead properly over the decades. also that kc/jackson have done the same with the kaufman baseball stadium, that's another beautiful facility. i've observed that you like to travel to other places, that's really awesome to video document your travels with such detail. i'm more a hockey-first guy then football, basketball, so my hope someday is to go see as many nhl arenas as i can. your attention to detail, and positive outlook definitely serves as an inspiration to myself (and others) to do the best i/others can to make one's hopes and travelling dreams become a reality. cheers from southern ontario, canada🍁

@@hangingwithkrisley I’ll never forget the “quietist stadium in the NFL, either. Arrowhead is famous for its 142.2 db reading making it the loudest stadium in the NFL but I witnessed what has to be it’s quietist moment, too. It was the game in 1990 against the Seattle Seahawks, a division opponent back then. It was the game that Derrick Thomas set the NFL single game sack record. He sacked Dave Kreig 7 times but missed his 8th sack by a fingernail and Kreig threw a TD pass on the last play of the game to beat the Chiefs. Everyone left their seats immediately, like it was choreographed, and headed to the exits in complete silence. No cussing, no shouting. It was just complete silence all the way down the winding ramps and out to our cars. No after game tailgating. Those winding ramps were completely silent except for the sound of people walking…the footfalls, the legs brushing each other, the arms brushing against sides….utter and complete silence. It was as if some authority figure commanded everyone to not speak or make any verbal outbursts. It was bizarre. I’ll never forget that. I will also never forget the first time Lamar Hunt came to our tailgate setup in the grass their in Parking Lot D on his way back in from his rounds. He used to walk around and talk to people before the game. That was the first of 7 seasons we had season tickets. He came by and met us and asked what we were cooking because it was chili in a covered pot. When we told him it was chili he acted surprised and said how in the world do you have time to cook that. We admitted we had done the cooking the previous day and that we were just warming it up but that we also were cooking bratwurst on the charcoal to go with it. We asked him to join us but he declined. We did talk him into tasting our chili. He said we might have to twist his arm. Anyway, after that he stopped by almost every home game as his last stop on the way back in - we were located closest to the stadium itself on the home team side. We’d have to be in line at the gate at 3-4am to be at the head of the line. By the halfway point in the season he was calling us by name. This went on for years. We’d always say when we were setting up, “I wonder if Lamar is gonna come by?!?” Sometimes he did, sometimes he didn’t. He said he liked to talk to fans himself to find out what we think about things. He would ask if we had any ideas on what could make things more enjoyable. One time he asked if we thought anything was missing. When I said a franchise QB he chuckled and said he wished for the same thing. The next season we traded for Joe Montana! LOL! Anyway, when things fell apart at the end of the 90’s and I had been transferred to St. Louis we gave up our seats. I think it was Marty’s last season. Anyway, we sent him a telegram (remember those?) saying I had been transferred so no more tailgate chili in Parking Lot D. He actually sent us a telegram back. I have it in my Chiefs souvenirs along with a framed piece of the Arrowhead stadium turf when they switched to grass in ‘94. It said, “Thanks for great chili and your support on game day these many years. Lots of great memories. Best wishes. Lamar Hunt LH:jf” He was a very hands on owner with the fans. I’ve passed my love of the chiefs on to my daughter. She’s a rabid fan along with her husband. It’s been fun to see the success in the Reid/Veach/Mahomes era - 3 Superbowls in 4 years with 2 wins. 5 straight home AFC championship appearances at Arrowhead. I told my daughter she’s completely spoiled. We went from ‘71 to ‘86 without a playoff appearance. We wore Bags on our heads at the games. LOL! It’s been great to have these winning seasons to celebrate with my family. It’s a blessing. We’re all spoiled now!
