Arrowhead hunting : A beautiful knife found!

My walk to my turn around spot wasn't so successful, but on the way back I pick up a awesome knife made from quartzite. It was laying just as you see it..i still dunno how I missed it!

    AL334 CreekWalker It was a crazy day. Walked for miles and would find one flake and a broken piece then nothing else in the area. Hahaha. Did find those few brokes though. The problem with this property is that there are no plowed areas. I was having to just walk the roads through the woods. Gotta be more somewhere.

    Let a Native choose between the finest point and an unused node of flint and he will pick the unused node every time. A finished point is like a lit match, whereas a lump of knappable stone is like a fresh box. When you are out there, keep an eye out for pigmentation and animal and face effigies, and any rocks with tiny holes or triangular chisel marks. some of the pre-forms are awesome, and decorated extensively.

    AL334 CreekWalker take a look at those scrapers, I believe they are modified to have faces, and probably animals. look for nicks and accentuation, especially where eyes, nose, and mouth would be. if you want, I'll grab a screenshot and outline some of the forms I believe you have already.

  • @jonathanryals9934

    @jonathanryals9934

    Peter Olmos, yeah, I was a bit melodramatic there... I feel under normal conditions the node will have more trade value though, unless the point is special in some way. I'm assuming they would be able to make the similar point and several more from the node easily, in that case I'm confident they would take the raw material. Though I guess you mean because you'd personally rather have a point, well, I can't argue with that...

    Dennis Peck yup they did loose them for sure, they made a lot per day and probably had rock material with them to make on the fly when they lost or broke a arrowhead or tool. In my opinion how they get in the creek is lost while spear fishing, and the major factor is erosion over time on a creek that had a lot of villages along the creek. Thanks for watching

    Unless that creek was by a Indian came you wouldn't find Shit creeks are the worst place to hunt arrow heads if you do find something it's gonna be broke big waste of time. Find a hill in the woods rake the leaves of of it before it rains that's how you find them or plowed fields. Don't waste your time in creeks

  • @al334creekwalker5

    Jeff Lynch man, honestly I find just as many brokes in a clear cut or plowed field from the machinery as I do the creek..i just enjoy creek walking. This creek has had many camp sites along the creek through time from archaic time period on up. I have thought about taking a rake to the property hill/ridge tops too. I have permission to dig there too. Might not be a bad idea to narrow down a good dig site
