If the red light is on the car by the throttle thing the center knob has to be adjusted until it goes out . I thought that was my throttle control to adjust the power . It’s around middle but the car won’t work all the way up and goes forward .

    Hi RCKIller! This is a FANTASTIC video… well done and thank you so much! A couple of questions: 1) Where did you get the little legs for the direct servo mounting? 2) Where did your package of motor mounts for different pinions come from? 3) Where did you get the motor screws from?

    Thanks! 1) The ESC mounting 'feet' are from the Hot Racing kit hot-racing.com/?partnumber=GRM2401;c=1909 2a) It is the Arrma mount set www.arrma-rc.com/en/product/motor-mount-set-8pcs/ARA320744.html 2b) Pinions are various tooth counts from LC Racing, I bought several from www.hobby-addicts.com/products/lc-racing-l6032-motor-pinion-gear-set-17t-18t-19t-for-3-175mm-shaft?_pos=1&_sid=d8fc1550b&_ss=r 3) Motor screws I have a large spares box I keep. I think the new motor needs M3 screws, if you don't have any handy you can get a starter kit of spare screws from Amazon (or Jenny's for the larger scale RC's)

    Thanks! It's not mounted with velcro, it has double sided tape on the bottom. However it isn't a good surface for it to bite onto, so it can move slightly. I am going to maybe use some on the sides as well to firmly locate it onto the chassis so it cannot jiggle at all. Moving around a little won't effect normal operation, only will effect the gyro as it will try to correct for any tiny movements.

    Did you use stock pinion and motor mount for brushless motor?

  • @Killer_of_RCs

    @Killer_of_RCs

    3 ай бұрын

    If you kept it 18T, you can use the stock mount. I didn't, so I use a different mount. There is one 2838 size motor with a 2.3mm shaft, that would allow you to reuse the stock pinion gear. All others are 3.175mm shaft so you'll need a new gear as I talked about in the vid.

  • @n00b247
    @n00b2473 ай бұрын

    I would rather use a smaller 2440/2445 motor with a 2.3mm shaft. Just to be safe. Also KV is not "kila volts", it has nothing to do with volts. KV is rpm per 1 volt, meaning 4800KV is 35520rpm with 7.4V 2S lipo. And 53280rpm with 11.1V 3S lipo if motor and/or esc can handle it.

  • @Killer_of_RCs

    @Killer_of_RCs

    A lot of them are 2mm shaft, but there are some 2.3 and there is one 2838 that has a 2.3mm shaft. If anything I would go with that 2838 over anything 24 mm. You have smaller bearings, smaller rotor, and smaller surface area to try and dissipate all of the extra heat. And you can't use the factory heatsink on it. If anything the larger shaft would be safer - you don't have to gear it crazy like me 🤣

    @@Killer_of_RCs I use Surpass and 2430/2435 are 2mm shafts and 2440/2445 are 2.3mm shafts. Both sizes are 24mm in diameter. 3.17mm shaft are usually go with 1/12 or 1/10 scale motors such as 2838/2845 or brushed 540/550 can analog 3650. Once before I did what you did with a 1/18 Duratrax Vendetta. Like 10 years ago. Swapped brushed 380 2.3mm shaft for 2838 3200KV 3.17mm shaft. I can show you that 13T alu pinion. That was a full-scale Greek tragedy. And yes, the motor will work just fine and it's safer for the motor. But pinion/spur gonna suffer for your insolence. Diffs will wave you goodbye after 2-3-4 packs.

    @@Killer_of_RCs but everything aside that is one great brushless conversion. it really is. you did great Tetris work filling all the spaces with receiver and esc. I just hate when losi/arrma go with receiver+esc combos in their 1/18 brushed models. I know they need to cut costs and save space but they can always release "Roller only" and widen 2nd upper deck shock poles connector bar. And that receiver+esc+brushed380motor will collect dust cos reasons. 60mph is a super great outstanding result for a 1/16 buggy.

    For sure, I don't even know why they make aluminum pinions. This one was light colored but it is steel, I've had quite a few different combos on the different Groms without an issue. @@Killer_of_RCs Ha! Back in the day, we used plastic pinions for a 1/18 scale. For brushed 370 motors. For indoor carpet brushed racing they lasted just as long as any alu pinions. Brushed 370 are in 3600-3800KV range and they were ok for indoor tracks. Also, 3S 11.1V lipo cooked them to a crisp in 10-15min. Also back in the day, we used to have all plastic diffs as well. Well for 1/18 and 1/16 scale and maybe some professional 1/10 (cos plastic vibrates less). Today with a 6000KV brushless "Steel All Around" is a must. That 60mph sure comes with a price tag. Though 1/10 professionals ran brushed 540/550 cans as long as they possibly could, even with brushless being cheaply available. Funny interesting how things changed in 10 years.
