ARRMA Senton 4s "Wild Animal" setup, tips, and hammertime!!!

Ridiculous fun is an understatement. Here's a close look and overview of "Mean Green". She's a ballistic all around basher that takes a serious pummeling and just keeps going!!! Weighing in well under 7lbs, she rolls and flies over surprisingly rough terrain. With blazing 4s speed, finesse with the throttle is key. Props to ARRMA for such a wonderful, capable platform. Shout out to Fast Track Hobbies and M2C Racing.

    @@ParcoUpchurch in general, the chassis should be able to bottom out off jumps and by hand without too much effort. This ensures that the shocks and control arms aren't overloaded. If you run really tall wheels, it's possible to raise the axels too high to allow proper chassis slap. That leads to busted arms and shock rod ends and can damage your shock shafts and pistons. Likewise, the stiffer your suspension set-up, the harder the forces are at all the connection points in the suspension and hubs. 🍻😎💪👊👊

  • @richduperbash2966

    @richduperbash2966

    3 жыл бұрын

    The bearing sizes haven't changed. They probably didn't update their website 🤔. Not sure which kit you're referring too though. The V3 bearings are now rubber shielded. Covering a chassis slit is a mistake. Pebbles and junk that enter a chassis bay should have an exit near the gears. I run a chassis slit on all my 3s rigs with plastic spur gears. Learned from experience it prevents the front motor bearing and slipper bearings from seizing up. Otherwise trapped dirt is ground into a fine dust that can't escape. 😎💪👊👊

    Rich, you are the Master of overpowering rigs 😮 Jesus, why even mounting the front wheels ? 😂 On 4S the rig is flying over the ground. I love my Granite 3S also very much. I have to upgrade the shocks like you to 6S shocks because I bend the shafts all the time even on good landings. Very impressive that the plastic Ring + Pinion gears take the power so well. BTW: I never broke one of the drive shafts, so Team-A is doing better then Team-T. 😘😘😘 Stay healthy and safe!

    Thanks so much Kimberly 😍. This setup makes it quite challenging to keep the wheels down 😂. So much fun though and tough as nails 👀. The 1/8 Lockups feel perfect. The 6s shocks work great with the right tuning and springs. Lots of good upgrade options out there fortunately 🙂. The diffs and center driveshaft are brilliant. The 1.5 mod ring and pinion are meshed perfectly by design. These 3s rigs have just the right amount of flex for hard hits. So happy to have the Senton back out again 🤗. @@richduperbash2966 thanks man. My kraton 6s is making a grinding noise, and it’s getting worse. I checked the diffs and nothing was broken. Some people say the input gears, but I’m not sure how to tell if they are striped. Any tips?

  • @richduperbash2966

    @@colter7300 often there will be a row of slightly flattened teeth on the crown or "ring" gear. The input gears can become pitted, but usually break teeth off when they fail and make a clicking sound when going slow. They can sometimes look fine at first glance. Best bet is to remove and inspect all gears (and bearings) closely and compare them with new gears. Shimming the crown gear side bearing with two Tekno #1222 shims is something I highly recommend to keep a tighter mesh between the crown and input gears. Lastly, make sure to use a quality marine grease and be sure the diff case itself is not cracked or stripped. 🍻😎💪👊👊

    @@richduperbash2966 thanks so much! I originally looked at the gears and saw nothing wrong with them, but after looking closely i can see a few teeth grounded down a bit! Also, how often do you have diff issues, cause i've already snapped a gear in half and broke gaskets and i've had mine around 3 weeks now and haven't gotten through a full pack yet....Thanks man for being so helpful 😎

    @@colter7300 I don't have diff issues very often to be honest, especially with them shimmed. The planetary gears and/or set pins can break on occasion, but it's pretty infrequent. Just don't run huge heavy wheels or land on the throttle. Gears need time to transfer power. They don't like sudden harsh stops...etc. I try to use momentum and keep the wheels spinning at the pace of the truck as best as possible. 🍻

    That's good you atleast rinsed and used WD 👍. It was designed for water displacement and acts as a short term lubricant. Not as good as bearing oil or Silicone Spray, but lots of guys have sworn by regular use of WD-40. I use it to clean bearings, CVD's, and axels mostly. 🍻
