    ABOUT THE SERVO FRYING THE ESC: If your servo dies (which is likely to happen if you DONT set the EPA correctly) and THEN you keep trying to reset the ESC and pair it with the broken servo you'll end up frying the ESC...the guys at my local hobby shop told me theyve seen it live plenty of times...if your steering quit...don't try to keep making it work or itll cost you and ESC. Then I installed some Proline Trenchers I had laying around. What a difference that made. You don’t have to, but I see what he did that makes it have more options for tires. Shopping for 12mm only can get a limited size and type. Cool mod man. I would upgrade the driveshafts now you got a bigger hub. And prolly bigger and heavier tires.

  • @RCRoads
    @RCRoads2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the awesome tips. It seems like the 3s Granite has quite a few parts that are interchangeable with the Typhon 3s. I have been upgrading my Typhon and saving the spare parts for my Granite. I'm not sure if the hubs are the same but they sure look identical. My thought was to upgrade as much as I could on the Typhon before I even ran it and save all the spare parts as backup for the Granite. So far I have only had 2 shocks and one of the front drive shafts break. The motor mount has held up on the Granite but that will probably be the next thing to go.

    Try this for stability over all, note this will lower your granite but for smashin on the street it’s awesome. Lower your front end by removing the spacers on your front shocks. You want it to sit low enough when you turn at high speeds it doesn’t bottom out. It may sit at negative stance on the front overall. But that’s what you want for the 40 mph turns with controllable slide turns. The rear you want to lower too, but when you punch the throttle make sure the bottom chassis doesn’t hit the ground. It can sit a little negative or near flat across the rear end as far as suspension. Its actually difficult to flip over set up like this for the granite. The way it comes stock will cause the truck to flip in almost every turn. Running your front end so low won’t be an issue when you hit the throttle, it will flex out and sit high above the ground until you go to turn. Its a super fun set up. Try it 🤙🏽

    Bought a Granite and Vortex two weeks ago for me and my son. Two weeks in and I'm already sinking $200 in upgrades in the Granite lol. Replacing the Hex nuts and wheels because the stock wheels kept coming off until I added some lock tight to the axle screw. This last run one of my tires blew up and my steering servo is just about gone. Gonna take this as an opportunity to upgrade my servo, all my wheels and widen the stance. The Vortex hasn't had ANY issues so far with the exception of the servo also starting to show signs of dying. One thing I can say though, the Granite seems to be the MUCH more powerful motor IMO.

    @@phillybrc When you replace worn out pivot balls, you get less wiggle in the rod ends, so many think this helps steering. I don't think they've actually tested if the car drives straighter. It doesn't and they get worn out again anyway. But that's not where the steering wobble comes from. Servo, servo saver, servo link are the parts to upgrade for more precise steering. Shimming the bellcrank and steering posts also helps alot.

    This is the most important upgrade of them all Make sure to Velcro slap your batteries to the tray/chisis as the straps arent good enough for when your bashing as sometimes your battery will pop out of the side of the body and u will think something got stuck to it and u will drive it back witch was the biggest mistake u ever made as u ended up dragging your battery 200 feet and messing it up and after a while it will start to get less balanced to where u cant charge it anymore or it will straight up explode on impact

The GPM one are ok but if you wear out those pins they fly off and I still can’t find that lost axle tube. So sad, but way stronger than those plastic ones, they kept on expanding at the u joint and the plastic tabs would let the pins take a hike. Tried to run the granite 2 wheel drive. I m not sure what to say, I havn t been through too many driveshafts Jason. Unfortunately you have to be mindful to preserve them. Loosen up your slipper clutch and try not to land jumps under throttle, especially on grass or high-traction surfaces. Also, tires that work TOO good like the badlands cause to blow driveshafts. Perhaps tires that “break loose” a little easier will save you a bit. Also, i tend to run on loose dirt alot, so i m my tires are always spinning, stay off grass….perhaps you are already aware of this info. Hope it helps.

    5:00 the stock mount is aluminum, the upgrade mount is also aluminum, the $70 "best" mount is also aluminum.. it's kinda bizarre.. if you want something better.. either it flexes, or it's gunna be made out of high carbon steel or stainless steel. O_o;

    @@phillybrc Awesome! Thank you. Mine is coming in the next few days. It's on sale right now and I'm doing with wide upgrade immediately, just wanted to make sure the typhon arms would still fit a V3 cause I know they beefed up the plastics in some places. Thanks again.

If my wife knew how much $$ I had wrapped up in my RC shop, RCs, tools and spare parts she would definitely be asking why we aren't taking more vacations haha. Anyways, subscribed amd thanks for the videos, looking forward to upgrading the granite!!

    Your servo absolutely killed the receiver. The Vorteks has the same parts and it was my first RC a few weeks ago. Lost steering the 3rd day and transmitter wouldn't bind. Tech at HobbyTown finally found the issue and said that those servos have a gyro and the gyro causes the servo and rec to burn out. Solution he did for it was to put in another receiver without gyro (loses AVC but no biggie for me) and I have had 0 issues since aside from my own stupidity.
