ARP ODYSSEY by KORG - The Classic Analog Synthesizer Returns
Музыка
The ARP ODYSSEY - one of the most unique and coveted analog synthesizers ever created. More than 40 years have passed since the original turned the synth world on its ear. Now in 2015, this powerful and flexible duophonic synth has been reborn.
Korg, Inc., in partnership with the founders of ARP, have worked to painstakingly capture every nuance and esthetic of the original. Like the MS-20 Mini before it, this is the true-analog recreation of a legend -from Korg - a music company steeped in over 50 years of synth history.

I'm not sure what Korg's fascination is with reissued synths and mini keys. I know some people like them that way, but please, please, please, make one that is 100% scale like the original.

They'll surely do as the DIY version of the ms20
So great to see some of these old analogs coming back...
ARP ODYSSEY with all 3 filter revisions! they announced for 999 $ This was the price I expected. because I don't have enough space in my studio, I like the keys, it's like the MS-20 mini.
Looking forward to this! The original ARP Odyssey Mk III was the first synth I ever got to play back in 1978, so this reissue will bring back fond memories for me!
Whoever thinks this sounds 'thin' , it's sounds as if he's using the less familiar Filter 1 option for his lead demo. Filter 1 was always softer and not as cutting in the mix. Filter models 2 and 3 for leads. It sounds very like the original filter 1. Good job again from korg.
I have the Korg ms-20 mini and i love it! I'm positive that the Arp it's amazing to! Can t wait to hear some good demos!

I think it's great that they reissued these. Really pumped to get the limited edition in white/black.

Well congratulations, they did
We all should buy one just so that next year they bring out the Arp 2600 reissue with the Arp sequencer.
I soo want this thing!
Muy bueno Salu2 desde Buenos Aires Argentina
Yes!!! :-)
the tone of this one is realy massive ^^ i have enjoying a lot to test this on my local music shop you can make a very powerfull bass and drum Kick with the drive function ^^ and it's realy an analog stuff with all the limit of the original.
It's tiny. Like weirdy tiny. Maybe one day they'll release one with full size keys as a kit like they did with the MS20.
Please, make a real midi implementation with CC# for this unit. Some of us are still using midi sequencer hardware and not “midi USB”
regular size keys please
The pricing i just absurd. Half! the price - and full keys! Then we can talk.

You've really got nothing to say about it, have you? By now, you've already recorded 200 tracks where you either connected a digital piano or your DAW sequencer to bypass the keyboard.
Really like the direction Korg has been going lately. I love my ms-20 mini (though I will admit the knobs are cheap and the rings around the input and outputs are especially cheap). Still sounds freaking great though and I am very happy to be able to get that sound and that type of hardware without dropping a fortune.
Regular size keys and this would have been an instant buy for me. As it is I'm still on the fence with this one.
Do you have plans to recreate the ARP Quadra as well as the Omni?
Let's start the ARP V MOOG debate again. It's been a while. My money is down for the Moog sub 37. So much more for the money. Now if korg did an updated arp odysee with modern frills AND memories there would be some competition. Otherwise moog wins. AGAIN.
Any chance of doing something with the PS3X00 line?
Hip-hip..HOORAY! Now how about an updated 2600? P L E A S E?!

bro, just hook up any keyboard through midi... smh
I love it, always wanted an arp, when will it be avaliable in germany? 999€? alright lets get it on
"It's colourful, it's classic, it's fresh, it's beautiful to play..." but they both forgot to say "it's f*cking small !". It looks, and probably feels, like a toy rather than a serious professional musical instrument. To my knowledge, serious keyboard players hands haven't shrunk lately ? What's next, a mini Fender Strat for guitarists ?

Boy, I thought the same with the ms20. I have the moog sub37 too and those 22lbs were hard to deal with and they are worse if you consider the moog's shape. The ms20 feels like a toy, but sounds like a monster, is compact, light, and everytime I have to move it I can use just one arm, It so easy to take it out and play. Same goes with this ARP, it's shape is perfect for moving too. Also, I've played piano for 11 years but those "mini" keys they are using aren't uncomfortable at all. Now, that I know them I wish those were the norm for mono synths.

Herbie or Cory Henry don't seem to have any playability issues due to the keyboard size, and they as "serious" as you'll find. For the types of lines you'd typically play on a monosynth (bass lines and leads), the slightly smaller keys are fine. And one benefit of the new ARP Odyssey's size is that it fits into a smallish hardshell case (included) that working musicians will appreciate for sure.

allthingsclassicrock I didn't know that. Did it catch on for professional musicians ?
Looks like this one isn't available anymore ( In the Netherlands/Europe) Is it sold out?! I guess Behringer is the only option now
Can we expect a new 2600 at any stage ?

Yes, Korg just announced the new on this week.
What is the background music?????????????????
Shame it's smaller with mini keys. Looks really quite tiny. Hope the oscillators are not so stable.
QUADRA!!!!!!!!!!
waffly video, didn't get to hear thee synth!
I got all excited about this but two things buzzkill this for me: VCO's and mini-keys. I like DCO's and full size keys for my big man hands at the end of my big man arms extending from my big wide hairy man chest. But the itty-bitty liddle "tap, tap, tap" on the girly mini-keys makes me sick!

why is things allways back but not as good as it should be ? i want a Jupiter 8 - yes a REAL one :)
Mini Keys, no patch storage....well, I guess that leaves me out, very disappointing but I am sure many others don't care about those things.

I've got you pegged, along with every other whiner baby coming onto this video and bitching about key size. Get over it, sucker! Herbie Hancock didn't complain about it, neither should you! Even if it mattered to him, he was too much of a gentleman and an adult to waste his energy griping about it.

ShreadTheWeapon Not sure which kind of "tism" you've got that makes you waffle inanely at people who don't value your opinion. You blurt your mouth off at everyone and when nobody agrees and the general feeling is you should just fuck off you stick around like a bad smell, going on with yourself like a confused old person.

Looking in the mirror as you post that immaturity? Your own reflection must kill you. You've got the dual VCO engine, you've got the full manual control, you've got the bootyful ARP logo, you've got the MIDI & USB control - AND, you've now got the tabletop module to buy which makes the overall juvenile complaint about key size null and void. So, get your foot out of your mouth and get one of those - boi! Or, do you want to keep going around in circles, failing to make any real argument and confusing your own horse manure with my wisdom?

ShreadTheWeapon I want a clone of the original, full sized keys. otherwise I may as well just use a software plugin. a classic like this deserves a true tribute to the original not a fucking Pokémon go makeover that would suit you.
Better to use omnisphere.
@humansrants1694

That's not analogue and doesnt come with controls. I use Odyssey and Omnisphere
It´s vintage, it´s analogue and it´s a Korg with little NOT playable keys.
Odyssey Minime? Not impressed so far. Korg, its mighty white of you guys to hire designers from the Association for Retarded Citizens but you might want to consider not hiring exclusively from there

There is such a group called "ARC". They wouldn't appreciate that reference. However, your point is more likely that David Friend is infamous for helping to sink ARP Instruments and Korg's Casio-esque mini-key versions of synths connotes "toy" rather than the standard size on which we all learned to play music. Hopefully, Korg makes an Odyssey module with in/out like their MS20M.

Wow, it never ends. Nobody's got anything better to do than to bitch about key size. "Hey, it's a totally manual, VCO-based monosynth made to the exact specifications of the original Odyssey, and you can have it for less than $1,000 dollars. What'll I do? I'll bitch and complain that it's got miniature keys, instead of looking on the bright side that I can use MIDI or USB to control it, the way I control almost every other synth or module in my collection! Glass half empty, so I'm gonna pour the rest out!" Gimme a break!

Just because the tiny keys are a match for your tiny little effeminate "wanking claw" hands doesn't mean the rest of us grownups are OK with your child keys. You should stick to your teenage engineering bullshit. The ARP Odyssey is meant for connoisseurs really, not restless children that would open it up, break it by adding some nasty switches where they don't belong then upload Frankenstein footage of your "work" to KZread sounding like an abortion to entertain your circuit bender friends who all have haircuts with a fringe that covers one eye and pierced brains.

I forget that people are as two-dimensional as you are, until I read bogus comments like yours. Not only am I a 1980s-born, educated musician who knows how to play his own synthesizers, both 88-key hammer action, 61-key synth-action AND mini-key synth-action, even with my "below-average fingers" - but I also know what the hell a MIDI cable does and where to stick it. Have you got baboon paws or something? Last I checked, Rick Wakeman proved just as dexterous with his big hands playing a microKorg as a Minimoog or any other synthesizer. And even if he didn't play its actual keys, he still knew what to do with the MIDI cable.

Listen, you're obviously young, on a budget and looking for bargains. If you like the small keys buy it. My gear consists of a Nord Electro 4 HP, Waldorf Blofeld, Nektar Panorama P4 for my DAW all with large keys which I prefer. I've got an old Yamaha SY77 locked away, it has large keys. I have miniature keys in the house for my kids on little keyboards I bought them from my childhood like a Yamaha PSS 570 and a Casio MT240. I play the piano which is why I'm more inclined towards the larger keys. Just accept not everybody goes for the little keys, same reason the Nords come in hammer action and waterfall action. Different flavors for different people's tastes and usage.
This key size is a joke.
Was so looking forward to this but the scaled down size and smaller keys is a big no no for me. you go to all that trouble to produce a classic piece of gear and then completely ruin it with these changes. Sorry but again this is simply the wrong way to go... i don't understand the thinking behind those decisions. Gone from 100% going to buy one to not buying one due to this..... gutted!
Miniature keys. Utterly ridiculous. Korg - why have you done this?

Grow up and pick your choice of MIDI controller. I've got a plethora of choices myself, and if I get one of these, it'll probably be the tabletop whiteface module.
The Odyssey was the 2nd synth I bought after the Mini-Moog. I liked it's sound and miss it. However, I won't be buying this. I hate the mini-keyboard and the controls look a little cramped.
bring on those analogues but let's get rid of the lame woolen hats unless you are skiing or snow boarding!
