Aroma Electric Wok Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Aroma Electric Wok. LINK to WOK: amzn.to/2gUj0BR
This unit comes in a 5 quart model and a 7 quart model. The wok measures 13.5 inches across. The entire unit with base measures inches tall. The electrical cord is 34 inches long.
Aroma sent me a sample of this 5 quart model.
The wok is cast metal and has a non-stick coating. There are long chopsticks included that you can use to stir food. Don’t use any metal utensils since the wok is non-stick, only wood or plastic. Included is a large tempered glass lid with adjustable steam vent. A steam rack is included. If you want to make tempura, use this tempura rack to drain food after frying. The base is detachable. Turn the wok over, press this knob down and unlock to remove the base. To put the base back on, place it on the wok, press down the knob and turn to lock. The wok, base, lid and all accessories are dishwasher safe. I prefer to hand wash since I don’t feel comfortable putting the heating element in the dishwasher. Of course do not wash the temperature control probe, just wipe it down if it gets dirty. The instruction manual has a few recipes for stir fried beef, chicken, fried rice and shrimp. The probe attaches to the base here and the temperature can be set from 250 degrees Fahrenheit to 450 degrees.
When you first get the wok, make sure it’s unplugged. Wash the wok in warm soapy water and dry. Take a tablespoon of oil and wipe the wok all over. This is to condition the wok. Wipe the work dry with a paper towel, now we can test the unit. Plug in the temperature probe to the base. It has a trigger release which should keep it from detaching from the base. Plug into an outlet. Turn the unit to high, pour 2 tablespoons of oil and tilt to coat the wok. Turn the temperature to 450 degrees. The indicator light comes on. When the indicator light goes off, wok has reached the set temperature and we can start cooking. I’ll make chicken and green beans. This is 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts cut up and coated with a little cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce. These are fresh green beans and red bell peppers cut up. Make sure to have all your ingredients ready before you turn the wok on since cooking goes pretty quickly. Put the chicken in and stir. The handle is cool to the touch but I would still suggest using an oven mitt because you don’t want to accidentally touch the hot wok. Take the chicken out. Put the beans in and stir. Add whole red chillies broken. Now I’ll add soy sauce and a little Sriracha, a little water, put the chicken back in, cover the pot. Lower the heat to 350. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beans are tender. You can open or close the steam vent depending on how much moisture you want in the wok. Now I’ll try steaming broccoli. Put a cup of water in the pot and the steam rack. Cover and bring to a boil at 450 degrees. The water is boiling. Place the broccoli on top and cover. The broccoli is done in less than 5 minutes.
To clean, the dial should be off, unplug the unit from the wall. When the wok is cool, remove the control probe. Clean and dry all the parts.
If you want to try this wok, I’ve put a link in the description above. Share this video and subscribe for more reviews. Until next time, thanks for watching :)

I love stir-fry! The release probe is a nice feature so the cord doesn't pull out without you knowing. Also, good to have the glass lid so you can see the food as you are cooking. Food looked good and cooked well. Nice review! Like the wok!

This video was very helpful to me because I had ordered this Wok from Amazon in 2021 and since then I haven’t used it and finally I decided to use this and as I was reading the instructions and I opened the base and I was trying to put it together and I couldn’t but then I decided to check on KZread and see how to put the base back together and finally I got it and put the base together. Thank you so much for the instructions. 👍👍👍👍

Other than the excessive amount of 'up-speak', this was a VERY informative infomercial, and I thank you.

How accurate is that temperature probe? if filled with oil at set to 300, will the oil be close to 300? and how long does it take to get to 300?

After about 5 years of use the non-stick coating on the bottom of the wok is starting to break down and come off, this is not good. Time to replace the wok, the high heat at the bottom of the wok, required for cooking , has damaged this wok to where it is dangerous to eat from. My carbon steel wok will last me for many more years. I loved the Aroma wok and will replace it to use as a secondary wok as I have been doing., Very nice and informative video for the new comer.

Awesome review! Would you recommend this or the super pot? Thank you.

Thanks! Both the super pot and this wok worked well. If you want a grill function, go with the super pot. The wok is larger than the super pot, so if you're looking for size, then this wok would work better. It really depends on your need :)

Nice review! Just so you know, when I clicked on the link to amazon, the wok it shows is not the same as this video. The Aroma woks I'm seeing do not have the glass lid.

If it has some kind Teflon coating, do you really need to season it like you do cast iron?
