Army Rations from France (Menu No. 12) French Individual Combat Ration Taste Test

Ойын-сауық

We got our hands on some French Rations! You know we love a good MRE, and you know we love snack boxes from foreign countries, so it was only a matter of time before the two worlds collided. (Seriously, who saw the Venn Diagram on this one?) This box was huge! It had to be enough food for a week. And it was so WONDERFULLY French. Paté! Dates! Museli! All that was missing was a baby baguette and a mini bottle of champagne, and we'd feel like we were spending the apocalypse on the Rue Cler! Here's an idea. Add this to your rations for a little treat for if the world goes south. Your future self won't regret it.
Thank you SO MUCH RustySuqid. You've been a long-time supporter of the channel, and it has always meant so much to us. THANK YOOOOOOOOOOOU for supporting our weird fascination!

    Hello from France and my Lorraine region close to Alsace region with the Strasbourg city. It was a funny episode to see you testing some of our foods. The "pâté" is much better with a crunchy "baguette". Believe a greedy French guy. Best wishes Natalie and Tara, and all subscribers.

    For the 2 main dishes, they would definitely be better hot. The sausage dish is supposed to form a sauce and cooking it would change the texture and taste of the sausage.

    If I remember correctly, pate just means ground meat, like bologna or hot dog, or other processed meats like that. It also refers to ground liver in some fancy circles, especially fattened goose liver that is often considered cruel. They force feed the geese for a while just before the slaughter to make sure it is fatty enough for "sophisticated" palates. Since I hate liver, they can leave the geese alone until Thanksgiving or Christmas, then sell them like you would buy a turkey for one or both holidays.

  • @KurwaRomek

    @KurwaRomek

    Жыл бұрын

    It's called "foie gras" (fat liver). It isn't ground though, at least the good quality ones, but is cooked whole and pressed together into a terrine. We tend to do it more and more with ducks instead of geese nowadays. It is kind of cruel but it's a delicacy since Roman times. The whole animal gets really fat, we eat the meat and the fat is used in cooking

    @@danemon8423 Joke? Seriously, prior to Waterloo, the French were often victorious. True, they were defeated over and over again during the Middle Ages. Who can forget Crecy, Poitiers, Agincourt -- and numerous other French military defeats. But Joan defeated the British handily. And the French had a decent record from Joan until the English found Marlborough. Since then, France's military history has been spotty at best. Napoleon had some success, but HE was a Corsican. And after Waterloo, the French have had an almost unbroken record of defeats at the hands of anyone except primitive tribesmen. That's why the meme exists.
