Army Rations from France (Menu No. 12) French Individual Combat Ration Taste Test
Ойын-сауық
We got our hands on some French Rations! You know we love a good MRE, and you know we love snack boxes from foreign countries, so it was only a matter of time before the two worlds collided. (Seriously, who saw the Venn Diagram on this one?) This box was huge! It had to be enough food for a week. And it was so WONDERFULLY French. Paté! Dates! Museli! All that was missing was a baby baguette and a mini bottle of champagne, and we'd feel like we were spending the apocalypse on the Rue Cler! Here's an idea. Add this to your rations for a little treat for if the world goes south. Your future self won't regret it.
Thank you SO MUCH RustySuqid. You've been a long-time supporter of the channel, and it has always meant so much to us. THANK YOOOOOOOOOOOU for supporting our weird fascination!

For most normal person, this is more than enough for two person a day. But soldier do a lot of things, so they need a lot more. This is very cute video!
When Natalie bit into the biscuit at the beginning, the first thing that came to mind was Max Miller (Tasting History) hitting his hard tack together. Clack clack.

I’m glad you ladies enjoyed the ration. Happy to have contributed the other to Tara’s Apocalypse Kit. Paella is typically a Spanish dish with rice, sausage and seafood. Life has gotten in the way from Shhh’ing. Have a great week!

Good on you for donating this one for a review👍Looks like they had a fun time.
Hello from France and my Lorraine region close to Alsace region with the Strasbourg city. It was a funny episode to see you testing some of our foods. The "pâté" is much better with a crunchy "baguette". Believe a greedy French guy. Best wishes Natalie and Tara, and all subscribers.
Le réchaud est une déco j’ai l’impression Vous auriez pu au moins réchauffer nos petit plat mesdames ^^
These were not dates but semi dried plums called pruneaux in French. The pâte was made with wild boar meat

These actually were dates, it was specified on the package.
Fun taste test. When I served in Vietnam our "C" rations were Korean War vintage. Yep, they all tasted about as 'yummy' as that sounds. lol

I love how for some of the food options the two of you were like that meme "Someone will die... of FUN!"

"It tastes like the..., outdoors."
Got to admit, I'm kind of surprised neither of you had ever had paella before!
An anecdote of French soldiers in Afghanistan. A French MRE was exchanged for 5 American MRE. And now it is in Ukraine that there are MRE exchanges

Trader Joe’s has a really good Muesli that comes in a bag. I mix it with yogurt, either fruit flavored or plain and add honey.
Very fun video. Now you need an Italian one.
I really like your shared energy. I'm going to keep looking for your videos. Doc out!
For the 2 main dishes, they would definitely be better hot. The sausage dish is supposed to form a sauce and cooking it would change the texture and taste of the sausage.
The sterno will come in handy during the Zombie Apocalypse. But burning down Natalie's house would not have been a great idea. Though it would make dramatic content: Natalie and Tara Try Burning Natalie's House Down. Still, there ARE limits to which you should not go -- even for your art.
You guys are a hoot! thanks for sharing!, vr, Shannon
That was food for one day for one soldier. ;)
Great job!
This was fun. :) I always find this sort of taste test intriguing.
Nicely done. Beautiful ladies having a fun time. Dreadnought Adventures approved !
Nice review! I've got a couple of these but haven't tried one yet! Good call on not using the esbit stove on your dining room table 😉
The French have really good ration packs.Maybe keep an eye out for the Italian ones as they are quality also. I think the Brit Ration packs are a tin of expired beans and all the tea and cigarettes you can eat.
If I remember correctly, pate just means ground meat, like bologna or hot dog, or other processed meats like that. It also refers to ground liver in some fancy circles, especially fattened goose liver that is often considered cruel. They force feed the geese for a while just before the slaughter to make sure it is fatty enough for "sophisticated" palates. Since I hate liver, they can leave the geese alone until Thanksgiving or Christmas, then sell them like you would buy a turkey for one or both holidays.
@KurwaRomek

It's called "foie gras" (fat liver). It isn't ground though, at least the good quality ones, but is cooked whole and pressed together into a terrine. We tend to do it more and more with ducks instead of geese nowadays. It is kind of cruel but it's a delicacy since Roman times. The whole animal gets really fat, we eat the meat and the fat is used in cooking
It’s Quiet Army MRE time.
The French RCIR is one of the best rations made by any country, and ive had most. Great job guys! I need to review another one of these soon😁

Wow! That French MRE did contain a lot of stuff! A far different from their American counterparts. You both looked like you were having fun with it. Perhaps there are other MRE'S from other countries that you might experiment with in the near future. Great job as always ladies! Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your trip to Hawaii! Don't break too many hearts over there! Have fun and stay out of trouble, you lovely ladies! 😎👍

@@danemon8423 Joke? Seriously, prior to Waterloo, the French were often victorious. True, they were defeated over and over again during the Middle Ages. Who can forget Crecy, Poitiers, Agincourt -- and numerous other French military defeats. But Joan defeated the British handily. And the French had a decent record from Joan until the English found Marlborough. Since then, France's military history has been spotty at best. Napoleon had some success, but HE was a Corsican. And after Waterloo, the French have had an almost unbroken record of defeats at the hands of anyone except primitive tribesmen. That's why the meme exists.
This was very rational!
Engage ! Legio Nostra Patria... For lunch 😉❤️ 🇨🇵
That is a 24hour ration breakfast lunch and supper the snacks and power bars are spread out through the day. Keeping in mind this for one soldier.
👋👋👋👋👋 HI TARA'S MOM 👋👋👋👋👋
I stock up on pork liver pate at our local Asian grocery store. Delish.
If heating over a flame vent the tin first. A better way to heat the tin is to submerge the tin in simmering water. Tara, what's your favorite date? Mine is the ajwa date.
I think the tin with what you thought were dates might have been prunes which are dried plums and very good at keeping you regular. Never been a fan of them myself. Very nice ration though, even I would have trouble eating all that food in one day!
There's dates in those? I can't even find those on Tinder.

Thats a 24 hour ration. Three meals for one person. And please open the tin to let it vent before heating next time. Don't want there to be an explosion of french sausages in your kitchen.
I’m pretty sure one of those cans of meat you ate, included some kind of snail in it.
I would love to send you some snacks from france that you could try on video :)

Muesli is more Swiss than French... pronounced 'moosley' or "myuslee".... the heating things are fine- have you never seen a chafing dish? Moving on to another channel. The French MREs are about as good as they get. US ones aren't bad at all (with its chemical smelling heaters that can burn the snot out of the hands that have to fish the packets out). SMH.
If you open the tins then heat them it's easier to warm the food and safer!
