Mission 9 is bullshit. I can't believe the Devs would place the flag almost in the beginning of the level! I spend hours trying to find the flag on the later path and found out i can't go back! What the fuck 3DO! I do like this game but i hate it when you back track to find out the item you're trying to get is locked off until you restart the whole level! I really hate that!

That change in the story of everyone closest to Sarge all his teammates his superior commamding officer and love interest all dead could be part of the fact that this was likely planned to be the conclusion of this game series' saga. The fact vs myth of this could be debatable but it was also said one of the reasons 3DO went bankrupt in 03 was because they ran out of ideas for this game series and funds for further continuity and development. It makes wonder if 3DO intended to make this the last Army Men game.

@@StevenCodeBlack They bankrupted themselves pushing the 3DO console. Anyway, I doubt this was planned from all the way back in the first game. I think they just realized - "Hmm... maybe we should finish it off by telling kids that war is bad".

@@rangergxi The 3DO had nothing to do with the closure. We were going on a decade since the 3DO was released.

I used to play this game with my older brother so much that the disc broke, in fact when my dad tried to throw it out I dug it back it and played it until he got fed up and snapped it in half

@Alex Green Army Men III is a conclusion to the plot of Army Men 2. Though the game project was cancelled a Beta of the game was complete that from what I hear is entirely playable. Last time I checked the creator of that game was considering getting the Army Men license from 2K to make a multiplayer game called Army Men Online.

@Alex Green I thought of my own followup to Sarges War that also would serve as a co-op remake of Sarges Heroes 1. Sarges War Sgt Hawk goes back in time somehow to stop Malice from joining the tan by allying with his past self from Sarges Heroes. I'd be revealed that due to SW Sarge screwing up the timeline, events are now altered as they were in Sarges Heroes (this is shown by fixing the continuity error in Sarges War where Sarge is a cadet in the real world with Gooding despite the fact in Sarges Heroes no one knows about the Portals prior to Sarge finding them and it's revealed that Sarge's War Sarges presence is altering key events in the timeline) and in the last stage the two Sarges take on Malice but it ends with Malice unleashing a self destruction button in his base that Sarges War Sarge stays behind to let Sarges Heroes Sgt Hawk flee. By this point, both Malice and SW Sarge are gone, the timeline has been permanently altered in favor for the events of Sarges Heroes 2 to take place and while SH Sarge is sadden at the loss of the friend he made, he knows that the SW version of himself wanted nothing more than death at the loss of his friends and thus that was the fate he found.

@Alex Green I tend to view Mylar (and the Army Men/Army Men II/Toys in Space games in general) as in an alternate universe. I'd definitely try to incorporate Dr. Madd and The Tan Baron though.

Dude being like 10 years old after playing the first 2 games... this game was truly disturbing and bad ass at the same time. Now it seems a bit cheesy but at the time I was super into it. Anyone else played the gameboy advanced game? That was a banger also

I played this all the time when I was younger! I still play it today! I just love the sweet machine gun sounds!

Shame that 3DO died while making this. Imagine how cool newer army man games would be if they revived the series

Imagine a modern army men game with destructible enemies. Like, limbs flying off, little plastic bits every where, the flamethrower melting them. Like brutal doom for kids.

I loved all the army men games as a kid. Was sad when I found out this was going to be the last one. I loved Sarge’s Heroes, Air Attack… all of them

I love the Army Men Sarges Heroes games. They made a shooter game that was kinda funny, a bit childish and awesome. And all it took was replacing the soldiers with plastic men that could be bought at your local store. I would love to see a remaster of the Army Men Sarges Heroes games in 3 in 1 bundle for modern consoles and PC (Similar to Crash N Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy) Or Make a 4th Army Men Game that has Sarge being the "Last" Green alive and have him rebuild a new army with different soldiers from different Nation's to finish the War once for all

My favorite part of the Army Men series was all the cool levels set in the real world. Army Men II and Air Tactics are my favorites in the series for that reason alone, also the amount of bug gore in Air Tactics gives me PTSD lol

Let me tell you, friend. That part, at 1:50:42 is CHEAP AS SHIT on Expert. Now, I don't get angry with video games often because I've sort of grown out of that era of video game tanrums... but THAT particular part on Expert brought back the rage in me. Because there's two APCs, a bunch of regular shelf enemies going for you, and worst of all, that machine that keeps respawning the invisible guy--and his respawn time is WAY too short. I pretty much just had to kill the APCs then make a wild dash for the ladder, find a way to sneak around the destroy the machine because fighting the invisible dude just didn't pay.

Also fighting Malice on Expert is about as fun as scraping your teeth on a brick. Wow. I thought he was hard enough on the regular difficulty, on Expert I had to use every single rocket, machine gun, automatic, and sniper bullet I had AND still need the regular carbine to finish him off. That stuff was absurdly hard.

I love the graphics. I wish the camera angles were better though and it showed how much life your opponent had.

This takes me BACK...

Seems with this one, Army Men lost that comedy feeling and turned dead serious and dark

I think thats the point, its a juxtaposition between a dark story and comical premise, if you look at it, its not that dark, its seemingly intentionally comically dark, it knows what its doing. besides i think the point is to capture the feeling of how most kids played with army men. bring that imagination to rela life i think it crerates a unique and interesting aesthetic.

I dig it. Its like the last hurrah for 3d0. It's like a message to the kids that grew up playing their games years before that not everything is sunshine and rainbows. That even your pal Sgt Hawk has a breaking point and he is willing to tear the whole world apart as vengeance 🤣

Did you try putting toothpaste on the scratches? I had disks that had the same issue and I remember my mom and I asking jeeves way back in the day and we found a thread where people recommended toothpaste. Most of the time toothpaste would work for me, and when it didn't we had a device for cleaning disks and between the two, it was almost guaranteed the disk would work

I have all of them, they are fun

I used to love playing this game as a kid! It felt fun and exciting, didn’t care much for the story, but I thought it was kind of funny none the less. The acting so over the top sometimes it could be really bad to some, but I thought it was funny, lol.

Those storage canisters in the end are supposed to indicate that Sarge's team was not killed and that Malice Just made copies of them to play on sarge's emotions So that means They possibly could be alive somewhere

What a disappointment. Beginning was a banger, but after a while the game feels the same. Music doesn't change. Also, lack of cutscenes in the middle just ruins the pacing. No closure or satisfaction at the end either. I get what they were going for, war is hell and revenge is never worth it. But, there's no payoff for killing Malice. Not even an ending cutscene of Sarge trying to return to his life after all of this. Just a stupid picture. 5/10 Could have been way better, fucking sucks that this is the end.
