Wow... I'm in NJROTC myself and I'm typically not a big fan of the unarmed exhibition routines from most schools with all the slapping and stepping and all that but there's no denying that what I just saw was one of the most clean performances I've ever seen. Good job, mad respect.

to me I call our unarmed drill team penguins because they look like penguins when they start clapping and stepping. but then again it's JROTC. We do weird, wild and crazy things. to me JROTC is like my second family. =)

I can't tell you how long it's taken me to find another Unarmed team that is as sharp in their movements as my school district's drill teams. On top of being sharp, it's also so clean. This is truly a wonderful performance!

of course this isn't proper military drill it's exhibition. it's supposed to be creative.

Then it should not be in a program meant to mimic the military, it should be kept to dance recitals, because this is a goddamn disgrace to the word "drill"

who said jrotc is meant to mimic the military? It's a program meant to make young people be better citizens, not soldiers

The "ARMY junior Reserve Officer Training Corps".....sounds like they're training youth to have skills necessary to join the military. Though I will agree with the citizen part as the Cadet program up here and in the UK, etc. is designed to build better citizens. BUT in addition, we are teaching skills relevant to the element you're training under. I'm willing to take a wild guess that jrotc have classes doing very similar training.

For high school if you're going to be going to competition you have to report in how a branch would or they'll take off points for command voice..

I'm on the Armed Drill team in Arizona. to be precise a little town called Sierra Vista and even though I spin rifles for a living our unarmed drill team is probably the hardest thing to do. you have to be really coordinated to do unarmed drill team. yea it's weird but that's what makes it fun. yeah for some people it's embarrassing but damn people it's the military (JROTC) that's what they do.

All I'm finding is festering cancer in theirs come to section ( why am I not surprised) about a flawless and beautiful drill team execution, and fun fact exhibitions are not supposed to be traditional they are supposed to be creative to the team or units imagination and training.

well usually if its a 1st place routine you would want to keep it because you can keep getting that first place trophy over and over again. that's probably why they always do the same routines because it always give them 1st place.

This is girls drill team. We don't spin rifles we can. but there ain't much we can do. so what mean you Americans call drill team girls drill team is gonna have some step in it. They weren't really doing that much marching cause they didn't put it in their routine. we don't just do regulation for our drill. that's why it's called Fancy drill team. That really offends me to call us that but I tell you what I bet you that dancing get us 1st place each time.

  • @heartfullbutterfly314

it's supposed to be like that. This is a form of drill (like regular drill, armed drill, etc) done in JROTC called exhibition where it follows marching rules but adds in a little bit of coreography to it. It's basically a step team (with the stops and claps) that is done in a military way. There is also armed exhibition that is done with rifles. Sorry if that didn't make much sense

I know that this type of drill isn't for everyone and that it's completly different from traditional drill. Maybe you would like Armed exhibition a little better. it still is like this but there isn't the odd arm movements. It's more focused on spinning the rifles or throwing rifles in the air and catching them.
