I was a infantryman in the army it was rough you do what you have to. In my opinion anyone who chooses infantry no matter what service are brothers.

I can’t believe I found this. Sgt Powell was my section leader, and later platoon sergeant for a significant amount of time in my unit. I literally can’t believe I came across this video

Back when I was in high school 30 plus years ago. I was in the Army JROTC program. I did see a lot of what the Army was all about as a kid. There were 3 of my classmates in JROTC that did end up joining the Marines as infantrymen after we graduated because they really wanted to be Marines. During high school I did take the ASVAB during my Junior year 3 times so I got a better score each time I took it. The Army recruiter was the guy who made me take it every time when it came up. I got the ASVAB study guide and studied it and took the practice tests. My 2 Army JROTC instructors were both retired Army Sergeant Majors. They both kicked my ass for 4 years in high school. One was Infantry the other Special Forces. Starting in 9th grade I started doing PT by running, swimming, push ups, pull ups, and sit ups etc. till I got into Basic Training at Ft. Benning after graduation. I did talk to various recruiters from all the services. My serious conversation was with the Marines because they looked up my ASVAB score and they liked what they saw. My GT Score at that time was100, even though I was an average student. I just studied harder with my ASVAB study guide. The Marines offered me every technical job they had from being every mechanic, aviation, electronics, and never mentioned infantry. I say I was impressed. Then they told me how hard Boot Camp was going to be and how mean the Drill Instructors were going to be. They didn't lie about that. I saw a movie from the late 1970s called The Boys from Company C starring R.Lee Ermey. I then asked them if I can go to Airborne School on a contract enlistment as an infantryman? They told me no because Airborne slots are very rare in the Marines. They told me that you have to be selected when you volunteer for Force Recon after when you get to your regular Marine infantry unit. Then I made up my mind after talking to them, I decided to join the Army to be an Airborne Infantryman. I then went to my Army recruiter. He told me the same jobs that I was qualified for in the Marines. I told him I wanted Airborne and Infantry in my contract. He told me I was an idiot because my scores were way above for 11 Bravo Infantryman. So the recruiting staff looked up for Infantry with a Paratrooper slot. 10 minutes later they told me they can't find one for both. They had was basic 11 Bravo. I then said "Oh well I guess I won't be signing up." I was about to walk out of the office until the E-7 who was the station commander stopped me and said "Hold on son. Give me 20 minutes to see what I can do for you.". After 20 minutes that E-7 was calling and yelling at people from somebody up in Army Human Resources that finally they got me an Infantry and Airborne contract. So I enlisted in my junior year delayed entry program until high school graduation. Graduated Basic, Infantry School, and Graduated Airborne School. Memorable times as a young man back then.

This year starting this Summer before October before the fiscal year. The Army needs more Infantry. Airborne, Light, etc. Get Airborne Infantry my Man!!! Look up Google they have big bonuses for Infantry. I have never regretted jumping out of airplanes and being a Paratrooper. I am an old fart now at 52 years old. I jumped last year out of a WWII C-47 for my unit reunion in Texas. You will see guys wearing Marine hats, stickers on their cars and trucks with Marines on them. For me I just laugh. I sometimes ask what these old farts like me did in the Marines? I found out few were Infantrymen or Force Recon guys. The Force Recon guys are very proud and elite like Airborne and Rangers in the Army. Many of those Marine veterans were cooks, clerks, mechanics and other MOSs than Infantry. No disrespect to those veterans about my age. These guys even avoid me at the VA when they see my green patrol cap with Airborne Wings, Jump Ovals, and Black and Gold AIRBORNE tab on top. Their stories about their past service cannot say how dangerous their job was when we were younger. My 2 badges I have truly earned in the US Army was my Combat Infantry Badge and my Jump Wings. Those 2 are my life story. Be proud to be an American.

For you younger guys or people that are joining the military, take his advice and also check out my story too: I joined the Marines at 17 and a half because I wanted to be infantry. Nothing but infantry. I was also a young impressionable kid that thought he had to believe and do whatever his recruiter told him if I ever wanted to be a Marine. This led to me NOT getting an 0300 contract because one day my recruiter told me that I could not go infantry and I had to accept a air wing contract if I wanted to be a Marine. It’s not that I was scared to say no, it’s that I didn’t even know saying no was an option. My five years went by and I never, ever got to do the job I set out to do. I regret my poor decision every single day and I don’t feel fulfilled with my service. Reddevilparatrooper is COMPLETELY right. Get the contract you want before you do not have a choice. Don’t end up like me. Best of luck with your service.

I did the same thing as him and went from Marine infantry to Army infantry. The Marines were definitely more disciplined, but in the Army they fought just as effectively, but with a better overall quality of life. I loved my time in each branch, but at the end of the day I deployed and saw combat with the Army, not with the Marines. That’s why i’ll always consider myself a soldier first.

@@j.a.f5305 That’s really not a good way to decide. Are you planning to join the military so you can win more fist fights? Maybe try MMA instead. Your question isn’t answerable mainly because there are thousands of individual marines and soldiers with varying degrees of skill when it comes to fighting. Being in a specific branch doesn’t inherently make you a better fight than those in other branches. Figure out what you want to do in the military and the weigh the pros and cons of each branch.

@@j.a.f5305 It’s not disrespectful at all! Boot camp in the marines may be better training than army basic, but it depends on your mos. If you go Infantry then Army Basic will be longer and possibly on par. The reality of it is, is that Basic Training or Bootcamp is literally just the basics. You learn everything in your unit and in more advanced schools. The Army has much more opportunity when it comes to schools. In the Army If you have a good PT score your unit will send you to any school you want pretty much. I have rarely seen guys who were fit that asked to go to a combatives course get turned down. In the Corps you had to get really lucky to go to any schools, a lot of which happened to be Army schools anyway.

@@aLbotTV Yea in the army there is infantry man and Special Forces which is more intriguing. Thing is after I’m finished with either branch I’m planning on going around other countries to learn other martial arts. Like jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, takes info, kyokushin karate, kalaripayatto, akhara and many more, so I don’t plan on going to any schools. What’s beneficial about the army special forces is because of there 40k bonus. And it’s more interesting because the training will be much more intense than a regular infantry

In the Marine Corps, I did a lot of training with other branches. Most of which was with the Navy. (I was in the Air Wing) I think the most important thing I learned about the branches is, there is no “best” branch. Every branch in the United States military is the best branch in the world at what they do. Need the doors kicked in? Call the Marines. Want the Block leveled? Call the Air Force. Want the neighborhood stabilized? Call the Army. All the while, the navy will hold down the seas and the coast guard will stay ever vigilant of people in need. Nothing but love for my brothers and sisters in every branch doing any job, from cook to commander.

"Once a Marine always a Marine" I've trained with other branches however the Marine Corps isn't a Branch of the military service in all actuality the Marine Corps is an annex of the Navy so I wouldn't say that I was crossed training with the Navy due there wasn't anything thing in my career rather the D.I.or being a Marine Corps Recruiter that I didn't have a daily interaction with Navy personnel due there's not many Marine Corps Bases that don't have Navy personnel.

Had Marines in my unit at Bragg and in my Airborne class at Benning. Most were pretty cool, but a few were little punks. We had a few Marines at Bragg who got out of the Marines and came back into the Army. They liked the Army better because you could rank faster as long as you were good and squared away, the Army had more challenging schools to go to like Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger, Sapper, Jungle warfare, Pathfinders, Green Berets, Delta. They were way more impress with the Army's equipment and gear. They loved being a Paratrooper and the challenges to go with it.

Michael Nettles Don’t get me wrong. I loved being in the Marine Corps and I have a lot of pride in it. My analogy was simply to point out the intentions of each branch. The Marine Corps is an expeditionary force. It has never been the intention to go into an area for extended periods of time and stabilize it. We CAN and we DO. But that’s not the intention. We get there, do what needs to be done, then leave. The army is much better suited and funded to be somewhere long term and stabilize an area. I don’t think that is, or needs to be a knock on either branch. It just is what it is. The point of my comment was regardless of the branch(or department of the navy) you prefer, each is the best in the world at what they do. As far as my experience with other branches. My MOS was 6338 F-35b avionics. The majority of my interactions with the Navy, Air Force, and the Army were in my schoolhouses. However, as you pointed out, I did obviously see a lot of the navy once I hit the fleet.

@@devon9453, I agree with your accessment for the most part, but would add that the 75th Ranger Regiment is a special op light infantry that goes in and kicks the doors in and would be called upon before any Marine Infantry unit would. The Marine expeditionary force is more inline with our 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, very highly motivated units, but not Spec Ops like Rangers, Seals, Green Berets and Delta. You're exactly right about each Branch having their own specialty in what they do, and they all do it very well, and we're all on the same team at the end of the day. Good luck Marine and thank you for your service.

You can take that "pride" all you want. I'll take that E5 rank at the 2 year mark with the Army anyday of the week.

Yeah promotions suck in the marines and is one of the reasons a lot of marines switch to the army infantry. In the army you could be an E-7 easily in 8 years if you are highly motivated. It might take 15 years to make E-7 in the marine corp even if you’re a bad ass unless you are a DI who happens to get selected to be a DI instructor

I've served in US Army 2004-2012. 11Bravo, Air Assault. 101st ABN Div. I had a guy in my Unit who also did 4 years in the Marines. He said the biggest difference in training, is that Marines paid much more attention to drills, marching. etc.

Alright boot.... Yeah totally... I didn't join for bootcamp to be a "breeze." I wanted my Drill Instructors to set me up, and put a peanut butter packet in my assault pack in hopes of getting me dropped after 6 weeks into training. I wanted my next pack of tards to single me out 99% more so much that they put me up against a guy that was 3x my size during pugil sticks so that my bone in my leg twisted around and broke my femur, because when I knocked his ass out he landed on top of me. I wanted to spend 3 months in MRP and STC. I wanted to be made a PEB and spend 8 months looking after retarded RSP kids, and mow grass from there to here and from here to there. Remember leatherneck square? Yeah I mowed that.... But hey, 3 months went by and after all that I graduated. :) Only took my entire first year of service to graduate. But I did it, and I don't know how other branches go about it, but god the Marine Corps' Med Boards is fucking retarded. The Marine Corps is pretty much retarded all way around. Leaving what's complicated and requires thinking up to the Navy to figure out. :/ It tells bunches that this guy was in the Marines and now he's in the Army lmao. Re: On my crucible a kid snapped both of his legs, and I still to this day pour one out for the homie. Poor soul is probably still in STC waiting to get discharged. :(

This is a great video, always good to show the true side of things and help the younger generations that will come after us make a good choice for themselves without adding in any of the biased hype or hate on the branch you don’t like or aren’t familiar with. I’d like to add that when he was talking about billets, the fact of the matter is if you are on your second or third contract, the USMC usually wants you as a Corporal or Sergeant to do one of those billets for three years, otherwise known as Special Duty Assignments (SDAs) or B-Billets. Do not expect to get by without your name coming up on the HSST list. One thing they would often tell NCOs is “if your name comes up for a certain SDA, you WILL go to the screening. IF you pass the screening, I guess you have to go do that SDA for 3 years”. Not everyone wants to do an SDA though. Food for thought.

my squad leader at Fort Drum was former British Army soldier. Jesus, his 2 mile run with 55 pound Ruck and without was the same 11 minute. every Monday was 8 mile run and Friday 12 mile ruck march. that was terrible. also he was 36. i am not going to say how many push ups and sit ups he did. he was straight savage. he pushed me so hard i raised my PT score a lot. miss that times. climb to glory. light infantry

Old veteran here. I'll tell you what I've learned over the many years I've been alive. Currently Marines are very popular in media and pop social platforms. I remember back in the seventies, everything was Army Special Forces, TV movies and such. Then in the eighties it was Rangers this and that. The nineties hit and everything is Navy Seals across the board books movies. For a while its been a little of all of them but now its Marines, I say let them have their day in the sun. By the way old Army Grunt here. Rangers lead the way, Semper Fi, and God bless everyone who ever put on an American uniform.

Skyler Koneferenisi if you want a combat role join Marines. The thing they left out was the values the Marine Corps focuses on for boot camp. They mostly save the combat for SOI. Yu won’t regret being a marine but you might regret not joining

Very helpful video, I am stuck between marines and army and this definitely helped me see the differences, I mostly want to do marines just for what he said, the pride and the workouts and I want to discipline myself. But the army sounds much more beneficial, maybe it’s just about all the work you put in, I don’t know what I’m going to choose but both are great!

Did both here as well....Marines do hump much more weight...usually no less than 65. Army grunts are good to go.

Joined the Marines in ‘98. Mostly because I watched “Aliens” (1986), a few too many times. Not ashamed to admit that, because everyone I served with said that movie played a big part in them choosing the Corps over any other branch! Wanted to be in the band, but got forced into the Infantry. Semper Fi 🦅🌎⚓️

I think the big difference is the equipment given to each unit, I was in the Army but I seen how Marines are given better rucking equipment, body armor & vehicles, but they are forced to take care of what they have because they don’t have the budget to replace a lot of stuff. The Army on the other hand can break a bunch of stuff repeatedly & replace it before night fall, plus we have better equipment when it comes to rifles, support staff & larger supply of warfare tech like thermals, CROW systems & schools available

Well im gonna finish this in the morning but as an 11B our rucks have never been less than 60 even in basic. I think that's more subjective to your leadership climate. I was sent to a stryker unit in AK but that did not change our PT standard. But I have heard that light units are a whole lot more intense about it.

The marines take beaches but the army captures nations.

@Dale Ross, would disagree with you big time buddy. I had marines in my Airborne class at Benning who failed. Had former Marines in my unit at Bragg who ETS out of the Corp and came back into the Army. Their biggest complaint about the Marines was outdated equipment, less challenging schools to go to, and slow promotions. They said they would starve to death in the Corp. They said they would have went Army if they had chance to do it all over again. They love our challenging school, and our equipment and duty stations way better.

I have same route, just I sent a bit more time in the Corps. I think I joined the Army the same time this dude did haha. Stay frosty gents. Rah.

We make do with what we have. Since we are under the Navy we get those scraps. At the end of the day we fight the same battles mentally and physically. USMC

I spent four years in the Corps and retired Air Force and I worked with a guy that went from Air Force to the Marines. I made Sgt in two years in the Marine Corps Air Wing but I switched when they told me to make E-6 I had to go to the drill field or recruiting

The Marines come with all of its equipment to include air power because it must sustain its self and can bring on additional forces equipment staged on meritime prepositioning of ships. Marine can fly into country and take tanks, trucks, and ammunition off ships; example during desert storm we sent battlions of artillery, and took artillery and eqipment from off the ships. During desert shild Marines suppied the Army with food and ammo that was a Airborne unit at the beginning of the conflict. I am not saying the Marine Corp is better I am just saying the Army has a different mission but we are on the same team. I speak as a retired Marine who spent time with the Army and Navy and God bless.

Keeping it simple.

Mech units are definitely easier. I’ve served in the 25th, 1st, 101st, and specialized units. Fort Riley (1st ID) was longer work days with the Bradley’s and maintenance, but easier in the field (lighter personal loads, driving over rucking, etc..). Schofield Barracks (25th ID) a light jungle warfare unit was physically more demanding (12-30 mile rucks, heavy personal loads 55-100lbs, more field time) but shorter workdays with more long weekends. So light infantry units will really put it on you. Most of my career was light infantry, infantry scout platoons, and specialized units.

ArmyRetGuy Schofield loves to run, I also went through the first iteration of jungle school before they started passing out tabs, people in Schofield always get made fun by big army because you’re in Hawaii but it’s definitely physically demanding & weather never stops training

Newy Gee Yeah, it’s definitely a hard station, especially true in the late 90’s. I did more rucking there than the rest of my career combined. I’ve walked till blood was coming out of my boots with every step. I will admit though, being in Hawaii was nice. Yeah... you do way more field time, and as you stated, weather never stops training, even on Big Island at Pohakuloa where it gets freaking COLD!! Time off and the surf is amazing though. I miss the beaches!

@Ben Allen, you never really discuss the different between Army Infantry vs Marine Infantry. Like shooting and combat? are Marines more trained than Army Infantry? how well trained are Army Infantry?

They’re all trained for what they do. No one is trained “more”. Simple as that.

I went from being a Corpsman to army infantry. Maybe because I was at hood, I felt the army was a disappointment. We didnt train like we did in the Marine Corps, at hood we sat in a parking lot and when I asked about training I was told "we will when we go to CA". I did everything with my Marines and in the army I couldnt tell you who our medic was. Also every higher up in the army was trash. We had a guy that just came back from Iraq and was being reclassed to 11b and when he brought up the tradoc regs about reclass and prior service in training, the e9 took the reg from him balled it up threw it in the trash and said "we do what we want". Everyone has different experiences but this was mine. 14 yrs before I got injured and retired.

Yeah hood I've heard is pretty trash. But the disorganization and shitty leadership honestly is army wide theres definitely some great leaders but for most they have no idea what leadership is

I feel like there was a lot of rhetoric about how the Marines were the tip of the spear and how we'd be kicking down doors and kicking ass. Granted, maybe our discipline may be a lot better, but who really is out there kicking ass? During my time in the Corps (13-17) all I heard about was how this or that army unit was deploying to combat zones while I really only went to the pacific to party and very few Marine units ever deployed to any combat zones. Maybe during the peak of the wars the Corps really was kicking ass, but nowadays, it seems that the army has all of the deployments.

Yo that’s what I keep telling everybody like people just don’t understand like this is not the 1980s with a 1940s or the 1990 or the 1990s do you know it and that’s why I was telling one of my cousins that join the Marines I told him listen you’re not gonna regret it because the Marines 80 to 90% don’t even see combat people are just too ignorant they have a very bad misconception of thinking that you’re just lined up to die and it doesn’t go that way

Budget, it costs money to deploy. Marines are broke, (compared to their branches). Deployments are shorter too, 6months max for marines, army would be in country for about a year.

25th Infantry! Army airborne. I love Marines, I trained with them, and I would never take any of that back. I would never disrespect Marines. But Army, all day long! When I was in Iraq, the Marines defended and the Army fought battles!

Damn John Kohler, I served with the 25th inf in Vietnam with a guy with your name! We started out at cu chi, then they switched us to the 4th inf in August of 1967. We were both in co a 1/14th golden dragons he was wounded at red hill near duc pho in nov 67. I lost track of him after that. I was wounded at a place we called lz hardcore in feb 68. The John kohler I knew was from Illinois. Damn fine soldier. Welcome home john

I'm in the process of joining originally i went to the navy but they didn't want to grant me a waiver for a tattoo i have so the army took me in the two braches are kind of fighting over me cause navy recruiter wants to use me as a number for his qouta and the army is trying to transfer me over to them so its been about 3 weeks of me waiting on them to transfer me over but im looking to do infantry airborne i look foward to it but the waiting game is just a drag

I was in the Marines 0331 in the early 90s. I probably would have stayed in twenty years, if not for the fact that we're being used to fight all of Israel's wars.

The army pays more and promotes faster for the same job. Also gets better gear and can afford to train more often. Should've went army. #pissed off 0311

As a US Army Airborne Infantryman Combat Veteran of the Panama Invasion and 1st Gulf War with the 82nd I had a few prior service marines that ets out of marine corps and come back in the army. The biggest complaint they had toward the marines was outdated equipment, not as many challenging schools to go to, and slow promotions. They like the fact that the Army had Air Assault School, Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Sapper School, Ranger Scool, and of course Green Berets. Most of those marines were good soldiers, but did see a few not make it through Airborne School at Benning though.

They still do the underwater level in the marines? (I’m talking about the escaping the sinking carrier trading)

It’s a helicopter mockup and you’ll do it if you are going to work with helos. So for Infantry, most likely yes.

So I'm in the DEP for the Marine Corps, and I only qualified for jobs in the combat support field and another field that I didn't like or caught my interest. Initially, upon joining the DEP, I was planning to get an infantry rifleman contract (0311), but I fell 3 points short for my GT. Instead, I asked if I could do another job that was in the infantry field, but they said no. My whole life, I grew up having the dream of becoming a United States Marine and also getting rifleman because I knew I would be great at it, and now I can't have it and I might have to stop pursuing the Marine Corps. When my recruiter said that I couldn't get riflmen, I felt down, like my dream had been taking away from me, but I didn't argue that much with him. I ended up picking AAV (1833) because that was the only solid option. Though, I know I'm wasn't guaranteed that job due to me scoring low on the ASVAB, and I felt like my mos would later on change in boot camp to another lower score mos like a desk job which was what scared me the most because I wanted an active job like infantry. I've read online that your mos can change in boot camp, and I didn't want to take that chance, so what did I do? I went to an Army recruiter, and I was 100 percent guaranteed infantryman (11b). The first step to transferring to the Army was to get a discharge from the Marine Corps. Of course, it's my recruiters job to keep me in. He asked me why, and I said because "I wanted infantry." He went on to say,"If you want a branch that will push you to your limits and motivate you to do better, then the Marine Corps is for you, otherwise join the Army because it requires lower standards and a lack of discipline." He also said,"If you join the Marine Corps and ever want to switch to another branch, you won't have to do basic training again, and your rank will remain the same. In the end, he told me to really think about it and to get back to him when my mind was made up. So, where does that leave me? In the middle because I really want to be a Marine because it's been my dream but I also don't want a job that I may not like. On the other hand, I want the Army because I'm guaranteed the job I want and I know I will love it. My overall goal in the military is to be the best of the best, which would mean doing special forces, and I plan on doing more than 20 years, depending if l like the military. I don't know what to do guys. Please help me. I'm 18, btw

In my Unit 1/7, We never had pack lighter than 80, and the gunny would weight them before hikes.

I don't know whether to be an army or Marine grunt it's a hard decision since the marines are feared and typically have less time on a deployment but the army has cooler shit.

Man I wish KZread was around is the 80s before I went to Paris Island. I join the Marines for one reason to be a Marine. I'll never regret it but now looking back 35 years later I probably would have gone in the Air Force. Lol Thx for the video.

I wasn't going to sign into like this post, but they really broke down the stereotypes in this video. I Ws a Nastygirl (they know what that means) when I signed on but spent over a year patrolling southern Bagdad with Marines under my care, so you never know where Uncle Sam will send you. You only know whether you're gonna make a decision to do what you know is right in that moment or live a life of regret.

Contary to popular belief among civilians, there is no true rivalry between soldiers and marines. They were made for different purposes (despite having similar things like infantry, tanks, etc.) and are not jealous of each other. They both respect each other aswell as both branches have collaborated multiple times throughout history. The Marines are first to invade and may get support from the Navy who also fights off other navies. The Army then arrives and follows up with the marines with support from the Air Force.

What world you live in? Marines hate the 82nd, mainly because whenever we cross trained at Camp Davis we smacked that ass. Plus we welcome our dark side making us "whole" they are playing a role.. narcasistic command ( reason their training is longer is learning how great they are and Marine corp. History)

1200 minute 2mile plus or minus 1 minute was average, so I could walk a 9 min mile to make your three mile time.. Marines are egomaniacs (not the actual infantry Marines) claiming they're all infantry. Ask an Infantryman if the gym was open after being released by their command? Most days was at least 2100 9:00 pm. 5 months and knows it all, still an over confident Marine.

I have completed 20 year of service. All service has good points and bad. Ground service is not pleasant weeks no showers, dirt naps, cot rest, food is not the best in the suck , and stand off capabilities is what I most sought.

Did both. There was no comparison. Marines. Just add on. I'm getting on in years. I've experienced alot good and bad. In all my experiences I can honestly say that there is nothing in this world that compares or like being in a Marine Corps grunt unit. NOTHING!

Shit even an army airborne soldier is more badass than a marines grunt IMO. Don’t get me wrong marines are some tough dudes and they train well but when do you ever see a regular Marine infantryman have Training in airborne Operations? never only force recon and marsoc. While in the army you have all these extra schools to make you a more elite soldier. Marines are the best in amphibious assaults tho I give them that. Also reg infantry vs reg army infantry goes to marines but once that soldier gets airborne or air assault or pathfinder or even a Calvary unit it’s different.

I was in the army with a guy who had been discharged from the marines because he was too young. He had two weeks to go at camp la June to graduation when they found out, but they kicked him out anyway. A year later he joined the army. I met him at “tigerland” at ft polk la. He said that marine boot camp was easy compared to that. I know they were getting us ready for combat in Vietnam, but we all thought the di’s were a sadistic bunch of son of a bitches, especially at that damn vc village they had set up. The worst was the hogshead half full of water, they would stuff you in it, put on the lid and turn you upside down, roll you around, hang you up by your wrists and beat you with bamboo switches, make you stand holding buckets full of sand for hours. Well then for some of us it was off to panama for 3 weeks for the special forces quick kill, jungle warfare school, then to a combat unit in Vietnam. I did hear later that a lot of the shit they did to us at ft polk they put a stop too because too many people were getting hurt ect. I think they did go too far a lot of the time. Most of the guys I trained with there were volunteers, so there was no need for some of it. I know one of the di’s wound up in cu chi and got his ass fragged. Didn’t kill him, but ended his career. I seRved up in the i Corp area, right alongside the 3rd marines, and I can tell you one thing for sure. Out where the foxholes are dug, there’s none of this who’s best bull. Shared my last can of c’s and last cigarettes with more than one 03 marine, and visa versa.

I'm joing army because in pretty sure I'll stand out alot better but I'm more introverted and serious type person dont get me wrong I got a good sense of humor but hopefully I do stand out and get those schools .

Well fellas i contract and i do work with everyone so hell i believe a man is only as good as the people training him. Im in Virginia now heading back to that shit hole east again. Keep dropping hammers check your 6 .

the different is , to looking at them I can told you who is the Marine, I am been both branches, Army can PT everyday but never look even, I can recognize a Marine for a mile away..

You can't even spell correctly. How can we take you seriously? I bet that even though you "am been" in both branches, you were more than likely a pog in both.

What made me realize the Marines are overrated is my time training with them in Airborne School. I trained with two Marines and one struggled with pull ups (burned out quickly) and the other who was a Marine Sgt could not hack the long distance runs so much so that he had to get pulled by the belt by the guy in front of him. I also trained with two Ranger instructors who definitely led the morale. I respect the Marines and still think they are tough but definitely not the toughest. One thing about being an Army infantryman who is aspires to be an elite such as rangers and SF, is that there is a necessity for no quit attitude. 11Bang Bang “Follow me!”

My best friend’s husband is in the Marines, and my boyfriend is in the Army. I have/had family in all of the branches. 🇺🇸 I am proud of all the military of ours. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. Be safe.

Will marine infantry be available during January

So even with the extra career opportunities, faster wait times, faster rank promotions, and sign on bonuses.. it's still worth going to the USMC.. I believe it. I never went, I went Army, but I believe there's something they have that the Army doesn't.

I spent three years in the Army. After the experience I would have done the same thing. I just think that I got much better training with the exception of the glory. Which I really don’t think made a great deal of difference anyway. Great respect to my Marine brothers especially Vietnam era veterans.
