Upgraded axles with more oil capacity, heavier springs, stronger drive shafts, larger fuel tanks, custom HD transmission, reinforced frame, bead lock wheels and 6x6 with lockers, etc. They put in a ton of cool stuff in these packages that make the legendary 70 series even better. They are way overbuilt compared to the already insanely tough 70 series Land Cruisers. It would be awesome to build one into an overlander.

True. But google the Hilux / Landcruiser war. Rebels and smaller militia's in the middle east and Africa have required a whole rethink in military tactics after beating a number of tank divisions in nothing but Landcruisers like this (the 4x4 version) and Hilux's, with dudes sitting on the back armed with .50cal machine guns and RPG's. The smaller, maneuverable vehicles could outflank and outrun the tanks and inflict heavy casualties. Many militaries have been looking at replicating this role so you can see that's what these guys are aiming for

Choices like the Bushmaster are probably out of the budgets of customers looking at these, and a lot of defense corporations have to ignore enquiries from some countries due to their own countries laws on who they can sell defense hardware to. Mining companies in need of secure transport platforms will be looking at this vehicle closely, as will anti-poaching agencies through Africa, where the commonality of OEM service parts mean that operating these fits better in to their ongoing operational budget limitations.

Then having to fuck with custom, and unobtanium parts(in any random shithole in the world), more than likely under threat of or actually under fire. Those modified rigs for the Rubicon are better rigs to take on the Rubicon, designed to do that task. I'm not saying this thing is the perfect specimen, but it is PURPOSE built for a set of tasks, and pretty well thought out SYSTEM as a whole. Choosing a LC is smart, wide covereage worldwide, among many other positives.
