    I dont think this is the 80s version. I remember about 20 years ago catching on some cable channel parts of a series that had CGI like this, which wasn't really a thing in the early 80s too much. Edit - Looking through the comments sparked a memory. It was one of the Red Shoulder ones.

    I like how Chirico has that Golgo 13-esque coldness and blank face. He seems rather stoic. But he seems to have a bit more humanity than Golgo 13.

  • @maysen51

    @maysen51

    He does have humanity. Chirico throughtout the series is always in conflict thus why he has a stoic expression. He had to deal with being double crossed, wanting answers and those answers leading to more questions and more of his past he isn’t happy with. Personally from a character standpoint especially in the last red shoulder we see pretty much all of the red shoulders have some sort of empty expression.

    SGT Kirico's one-man action was so awesome but other enemies AT units weren't his opponent in the battle. By the way, Kirico's ex-girlfriend hasn't come back and she still stayed in space but who is this silver hair female soldier? Kirico is real brave soldier at the same time so popular guy from many girls.

    @@DaSpineLessFish Weak excuse for a horribly done battle scene. Flashy and cool looking sure. However they get a 1/10 for their depiction of tactics in combat. Absolutely no way any army would conduct an operation that random and sloppy. Even Soviet human wave attacks were done in a structured way. I have seen plenty of animes where they took the time to showcase tactical thinking and movement in combat. If the creators don't care about that I suppose that's fine as it's their show. However or anyone who knows anything about military tactics will cringe once or ten times while watching this battle segment lol.

    Gundam wing syndrome? Votoms was more than a decade earlier than gundam wing. And a Gundam is a thousand times better in terms of armor compared to a scopedog. If anything Chirico in votoms uses ordinary grunt suits that is actually more volatile than a leo. Gundam wing survivablity is much higher than a scopedog since it is a super mech in in it's own universe. Also if the main character dies in his own series then that ends the story, they're supposed to have plot armor. This isn't game of thrones where there are multiple characters with their own storylines.

    We're not for sure that Deus Ex allowed Chirico to survive as it reveal that he is a demigod and humans his playthings. Fiona joins Chirico in heaven where they will wait for the day to arrive when humanity need the gods, to avoid the humans exploit him or Fiona for their own intention. The scopedogs have lighting shaped antennas and Chirico is seen as an emperor of war with a ceasar crown.

    So, like, why do mecha in VOTOMS even have feet? Seriously. When they're in hovercraft mode, the better maneuvering is just so much faster as to be an actually usable vehicle due to its agility. If rough terrain or power is a problem, tank treads or a hex-wheel system should make up the difference. This leads to a more stable and consistently fast locomotive system that can probably handle slopes better than these guys' stuff and has fewer moving parts than legs, and it would also add cargo [= weapon] capacity.

  • @ElliFong

    @ElliFong

    Late answer, but mecha in Votoms does have tracks in their feet. Because this is a fictional universe, why those mecha move like human is because the new type of fuel. The building in this universe are also made with those mecha to fit in in mind. Not so much with actual tanks.

  • @jimmeier547

    Well... 1. Because mech with legs is cooler, screw practicality 2. Primarily the VOTOMs do have wheels/treads on their feet to move around in quicker speeds, but they are limited to mostly flat or more even places 3. Gives them more tactical flexibility in addition to their "single pilot APC" unit status

    @@NXTangl Same goes for a tank with damaged tracks. Nowadays it’s known that legs are actually the way to go with robots: as the other guy commented, tracks are good/cheap but limited to more even places, while legs give you the possibility to move through more diverse terrain and provide more mobility as a whole (plus humanoid robots look cooler).
