---------------
7 Days to Die is a survival horror video game set in a post-apocalyptic world where players must scavenge for resources, build shelters, and defend themselves against hordes of zombies. The game takes place in a randomly generated world and features a day-night cycle, with the zombies becoming more aggressive and difficult to deal with at night.
Players must also manage their hunger and thirst levels, as well as avoid other environmental hazards such as extreme temperatures and wildlife. The game can be played alone or with others in multiplayer mode. It was developed by The Fun Pimps and released in 2013 for Microsoft Windows and later for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Linux.

I agree, preacher gloves need nerfing. And it's sad that a few weapons got armor set bonuses like magnums, rifles, intellect weapons.. but other were left high and dry. And there are a lot of repeat buffs that could have been specific play style bonuses.

Devils advocate it could be with future in mind, preacher gloves are undead for all weapons, specialised ones are all enemies which includes wildlife and (when added) raiders for their specifi group, but could us a tone down but depends on toghness and number of raiders when added. Plus unless you go full preacher you miss out on the set bonus (although some balancing is needed with the set bonuses imho.

@@Cadacf Maybe - it will depend on how much of a role bandits actually play - they might be only on occasion like a buried supplies quest, you just go raid a bandit camp. So 90% of the time you're fighting zombies. Regardless - it's going to be a while before we see bandits, so I'd prefer balance for what we have now, and recast things when bringing in something new.

Assassin set also needs some changes, maxed out and with the skills, you become invisible right in front of zombies, you can even shot them repeatedly doing sneak attack bonuses. Only con is that some triggers for zombie spawns are glitching the agro, and sometimes you never hit sneak attacks even tho being hidden

I love the thorough breakdown. While I agree with the notion that the preacher gloves are too strong relative to their other counterparts, a difference that isn't made clear due to the nature of the stat UI is that all light armors offer 0% crit resistance, whereas all medium & heavy does. While this isn't enough alone to justify the stats remaining on par with their counterparts, it is at least a vulnerability the player adds worth noting. Since none of the armors report their critical resistance values aside from some of the bonuses, you can see them by comparing the before & after on the stat page. The only set bonus I've seen that's actually worth going for is the raider set. While it may seem underwhelming at first, when combined with the natural critical resistance on the rest of the gear, it's actually quite substantial. As an experiment I actually took my brawling build in full level 4 raider gear and just went full fisticuffs in an open field on horde night and was able to go most of the night before having to retreat because I could just shrug off everything they dished out. Only when the injuries started to pile up did I have to retreat to my base, and only then did I realize I didn't even have my full set like I thought and thus I was down about 25-30% crit resistance as I was still wearing my farming boots from cycling the farm earlier that day.

Every content creator has shown there there is one big problem with armor. That the full set bonus isn't even worth going for. Fun pimps need to look into making the full set bonus more appealing. Maybe they need to give another bonus stat instead of one? Make it two extra stats for a full set bonus instead of one. I'd suggest maybe 3 extra stats but at that point it might be abit too much leaning towards people only doing full sets. There is some kind of middle grounds where a full set bonus feels worth it while also letting people still do none full set ups, because right now, NOBODY even considers full set bonus and I think that's a problem.

  • @CautiousPancake

    @CautiousPancake

    4 күн бұрын

100% agree that the full set bonuses aren't worth it. What I'm not sure on is if I prefer it that way - where they are just a little bit extra if you feel like using the full set, but it's not mandatory - this gives you the flexibility to play with whatever armor you like. Having said that - it feels like it *should* matter - although that will cause people to complain that it's "railroading" them into playing with a full set. As long as the sets are mostly balanced and interesting though - I'd be happy with that I think.

Hehe sure - so what I was trying to say was that because medium and heavy armor have penalties to stamina and mobility, but those penalties are reduced by the points you put into medium armor skill (or heavy) - you don't want to use a full medium armor build, and have points in medium armor, but then use the nerd hat (heavy) as this will give you full penalties. However you can wear any light piece of armor any time, as there are no stealth/movement or stamina penalties for light armor.

in the playthrough, I am in right now, at the beginning I went all light armor until I had enough points to put into the armor type I wanted so I would not have a movement/noise penalty. While the preacher gloves are good when you are mixing armor sets, having a full set to get that extra set bonus can complement and make your build incredible. EX I went in full agility attribute so I took the Assassin medium armor, added some stealth perks and you can have 6.6X the damage of a bow, plus almost walk over zombies without them noticing, or do multiple sneak attacks on a radiated zombie and they barely react. You trigger a Zombie trap room? just back up out of sight a few seconds and most if not all will lose interest in you and you can just come back to finish them all with the bow. Having to have an 'Armour' storage box now and swap in and out of armour pieces constantly, depending on what you are doing, is going to be a a tedious bore very very quickly. At least you can still do 'themed' playthroughs with the new sets I guess, and just ignore bonuses. There is so much still wrong with the game and so many features still to come that have not been implemented, it is a bit of a joke saying it is now under 'full release' and full price (imho). And I say this with over 4k hours in the game (having started during Alpha 19). 1.0 is pretty 'meh' tbh, there is very little in it that makes me enthusiastic to play it, and they have also lost the plot with the zombie health buffs and difficulty curve, especially for new players. The low level infested stuff in particular, even in the desert biome etc (never mind the harder biomes) are bonkers difficult from what I have seen, first week irradiated etc...utter nonsense.

Is it "ready" or actually ready - I guess we'll find out in a month! I keep an armour box as well, but I haven't really used it yet - other than for a bit of wood chop and a bit of mining. I rolled on an agility playthrough atm and my assassin gear makes it sometimes that i scare myself when i accidently step on a zombie xD The only thing missing for me in terms of clothing would be a clothing rack or dummy or something like that, so when you interact with it, it exchanges parts with your own. For example if that dummy got some gloves you want for harvesting your crops, you go to it, interact with it and it exchanges your gloves with the ones it was wearing. Hi Joel! That's true for sure, but nearly all combat currently is vs zombies rather than animals, and I have no idea how much combat there will be vs humans when bandits come in Feb 2025, so I can't rightly review for that (unless you wanna give me a sneak peak ;) It makes sense that you don't want to change the set bonuses and tiers too much, but as the game is now, they feel out of step with the other gloves. I also understand that a nerf will likely not be popular, and maybe the better option is just leaving it until bandits come in, but it feels like dropping the damage bonus on those gloves some (for now) would make choosing preacher vs other gloves more of a meaningful choice (i.e. do I want 25% dmg on both melee and ranged, or 50% dmg on just one), and you can ramp the dmg bonus back up again with bandits, depending on how significant and frequent they are for combat.

Thanks for the overview CP, I'm a couple hours into my first 1.0 playthrough and this really helps. I'd love to hear from everyone here, does this system feel fun and flexible to you? My instinct is "Aw shit, now on top of the other ten things I've got to remember to take out or put into my inventory on horde night, now I also have to change clothes." Or, "Aw shit, I forgot to change clothes before reading those magazines." I didn't hate having to remember to put my "warm clothes" on before heading into the snow biome, because that really made sense for the game, but this? I gotta be honest it feels pretty forced, random and silly? I haven't played enough yet to have a firm opinion on it, so let me know what you guys think.

If I'm out and about and need to read a couple of magazines, it's no big deal, or chop a little wood etc to not have the "correct" armor on. I'll only swap if I'm doing a full overnight mine or tree chopping session. So it's good to collect them, but it doesn't feel "mandatory" for me. But everyone will have different thoughts I'm sure!

I think the devs are trying to compliment the armor sets together with the volumed magazines though not very significant and it feels like these armor sets are mostly for role playing and must not be game changing, I mean we played this game before with simple armors without any bonuses. And they obviously wants us to craft multiple sets for each tasks we want to do. What I do personally is I craft the preacher set and just leave it in my horde base and only use it during horde night. And when I need to gather specific resources I use either lumberjack or miner set depending on what I need. All these bonuses are just to help in specific tasks and only the Preacher armor set really makes a difference when it comes to damage dealing and the athletic set is very good in the early game to preserve resources and travel faster on foot.

@@CautiousPancake I observed that some sets are just for early game and need to be changed eventually. Another early game set is the Ranger set. The set helps with the Pipe pistol damage but more importantly the full set helps a lot in the reload speed since pipe pistol is considered as a revoler, and I have tested it personally. Since in the beginning we only have access to pipe weapons, this is gonna be a significant help, plus the additional armor since it is medium armor is a big boost and the additional health and stamina helps significantly as well, not to mention that little bartering bonus in the early game is very massive in my opinion. The key here is not to look at 1 set as your forever set in the whole game rather to recognize which are the early game sets to mid and to late game. Also some sets are only good for situations like gathering resources which you really don't necessarily have to upgrade if you lack the materials. Hope this perspective of mine will help appreciate these armor sets and learn how to utilize them properly.

Honestly the only bonuses I ever really cared about was speed or movement types. L8ke running speed and aim and reload speed. Damage helps a big deal yet nothing enough bullets and fast reloading can't handle. With fast enough feet and good cardio it's always fun to jump out of the base and create a "bait ball" and throw explosive at them. My interactions with armor is about the look or how I can modify it. What I home for in any armor updates is mods to go in it to make it look the RIGHT WAY instead of mixed or matched. I loved the helmet mods that made a helmet look like the cowboy hat. I hate the "NERD" armor so much I want to get in the face of a developer that made it and ask "really you think any self respecting nerd would wear that?". I tried swapping it in when doing a lot of magazines, and you do get a couple of bonus ones here and there - it's got a benefit that's sometimes handy, but not game-breaking - I think the bonus on this is ok (at low levels) since I don't feel bad if I'm out of space and need to read a few magazines, as the low bonus in early game probably wasn't going to add many levels. With the economy being the way it is I don't blame them, they have to put food on the table after all, it's just getting kind of old. Overall I like the idea of the armor changes, but the old system had nothing wrong with it, and with some polishing (notably, making BDUs not meta) could have been just as good if not better than the new system, but with the survival element of having to wear clothes you found in a random drawer.
