Armenia has always avoided conflicts. Artsakh was Armenia for over 2000 years. Azerbaijan, a manufaced country in 1928, was granted the ownership of Artsakh and Nakhijevan by Soviet Russia, specifically by Stalin. Azerbaijan has a big appetite when they call Armenia western Azerbaijan , thus, war is only being postponed. All these so-called 'peace' agreements are nothing but giving away Armenian land piece by piece.

War happened at internationally recognized Azerbaijani land and no Armenian land was invaded. So far Azerbaijan had every right to take back their lands which were invaded back in the 90s. How's Russia "losing sway"? Both Armenia and Azerbaijan were incorporated in Soviet union, therefore both have lobby in Moscow, Russia favouring one over the other would mean "losing sway". Unlike the Usa with its Taiwan and China issue, and similar policies of creating tension through "divide and conquer" principle, Russia does not need war and tension in the region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, therefore it's better to solve the ethnic problem that was created during Soviet times now than having the issue going on indefinitely..

Russia do not force anyone to align with them. I'm from Nigeria and from the history of now moribund Ajaokuta steel plant, Russia was the country given the project and when they finished it. The Nigerian government terminated their contract around 1983 and they never made a fuse about it but left. That plants is in ruins and everyone knows another 'hand' made Nigeria cancel the contract and Ajaokuta steel is mirage now.

Regardless of how Russia may appear useless, dumping Russia is probably a bad decision. The West is on the side of Turkey. When looking at the wider pic, perhaps the long term destiny of Armenia was to be subsumed into Turkey. The 1829 Russian takeover of Yerevan was perhaps a small diversion. Armenia hosted NATO planes at one of its (ex Sovet) airbases. Armenia also left the CSTO already - I'd expect Azerbaijan is considering this too.

"Russia betrayed us??" Look at the Armenian leader who publicly undermined their own position in Nagorno Karabach. You can't do that and then try to shift the blame on to others afterwards.

Armenia has nailed it's colours onto the tattered mast of the EU, so there is no surprise that Russia will not risk the lives of it's soldiers defending Armenian territory. They should learn to choose their friends more carefully.

Arminian and Azerbaijani to understand that peace and only peace is good for both of them. Shouldn't occupy each other's land or try to provoke others. Use your resources on your own peoples welfare and not on weapons.

But we haven’t occupied a single Azeri territory since 1994. And even that land (Artsakh) had a 95% Armenian population and was under Armenias control before Stalin gave it to the Azeris. We even had few hundred year old Churches there which are now being demolished by their government

And while the Christian Spain preserved your Mosque, the Muslim Azeris instantly destroyed our few hundred year old Churches right after they got our lands (but at the same time we also have Muslim Iran which has preserved our thousand+ year old Churches). And Muslims don’t have to invade Spain to visit QURTABA as even today there are many Muslims living in Spain that can visit the Mosque without getting discriminated by local Christians. While no Armenian can visit Azerbaijan to visit the Churches our ancestors have built nor have the Azeris kept any of our old Churches for us to see
