    I'm very new to isopod culture and the great thing about my Magic Potions is that so far they're actually the most active and visible of the ones I've acquired - more so than my various Porcellio laevis - and are more than happy to emerge in daylight especially when dried shrimp are in the offing. Beautiful little animals!

    Magic potions are unusual in several respects…I have heard this from various people, that they are very bold…mine appear fairly bold for an Armadillidium, but nothing like some of my other species. I wonder if this depends on the specific strain?

    Thanks Rus good luck with your love potion. I got some about a month ago. They are hard to find but I’m just caring for them as usual. Set up like yours. I offer crab meal. Which is shells. Then pulverized chicken egg shells azomite. Then a mix of plant based chow with pea powder brown rice flour kelp and several other adjuncts. Then a pile of dry anchovy powder. As a buffet they don’t seem to care for veggies or fruit so far. I’m getting some butternut squash sweet potatoes to add. Bananas mold to fast. I feed Saturday and Tuesday or Wednesday. This seems to make most of my collection grow and several are reproducing. I started in Isopods in March this year so I keep out of my hospital bed and up doing something. I am also posting on KZread but haven’t learned editing yet but going to soon. Thanks again Ricky 💃🏼🕺🏼🎸😎🐈‍⬛🍂✌️

I'll try uploading each of the types soon.

    How would the Magic Potions do in an arid enclosure? Are they escape artists? Would I need a lid for their enclosure?

  • @Aquarimax

    @Aquarimax

    7 ай бұрын

    As long as they have a readily available hydration station, they should be fine with regards to an arid enclosure. They cannot climb smooth, clean, dry surfaces, but they can climb scratched, dusty, dirty, rough, and in some cases, damp surfaces. They can also climb the silicone sealant used in glass aquariums. A lid is usually best, but as long as unwanted creatures can be kept out and the isopods have no way to climb out, AND you can keep the hydration station moist, a lid is not a necessity.
