    Ye SC2 got stale. It's nice to see a new game that is significantly different from the previous being pushed so hard. This game is great, and even if you're a non-RTS-player, the spectator-sport aspect exists because who doesn't want to see a bunch of tanks and mechs blow eachother up in mass? With nukes and such going off. It's just fun to watch.

    Somewhere in a not too far off alternate universe, one of the top players lost their first few skirmishes, declared "its over" in chat and stopped fighting, and poor alternate universe Winter was never given the chance to secure the win. ( Don't be that guy. )

    Armada gets a lot of what Cortex bots have by going vehicles. Jaguars are Armada's Fiends, and Mausers are Armada's Sheldons. Bulls, however, have no analogue - they're very good balanced relative to Cortex tanks (Tigers and Tzars) which go into extremes.

    man you were like 1 vs 4 and really were like 1 vs 8 as you took out a lot of eco of almost all the other players. nice sneak arounds to back of bases. i've been only playing a few days thanks for introducing me to the game. one thing i saw that i think you could of done better i know who am i to give a pro player a tip a rank 1 myself lol. but when you take your commander to the front skip all the metal on the way get the middle first then use your constructors to back fill the metal you skipped. this 1. protects your costly constructors from getting killed from 1-2 pawns or grunts 2. allows you to secure the middle and get up some defenses before your enemy arrives if he was doing your strategy. my 2nd tip could be once you got that commander kill and all that metal instead of going bots tier 1 why not go tier 2 vehicles? you were killing in the metal department but when wind got low you were lacking some energy. awesome playing and micro. thanks for showing some more gameplay. what level were the players you were playing against like 1-5 ranks? when i play i spend most of my time focusing on economy and very little time focusing on combat and units. its just amazing to see you were the opposite almost totally focused on combat and barely looked at eco with your amazing use of hot keys. you were amazing at reclaiming all the metal on the ground. very impressive gameplay. at the end there i think i saw you building a 2nd regular fusion reactor instead of an advanced fusion reactor. i believe the advanced are the way to go once you have 1 normal fusion up. and you can even reclaim the metal from the 1st normal fusion. at least that's what i've been told. hope to see you with the BAR crown one day:)

  • @EugeneParallax

    Tidals are more-less an average between solar and wind. Notably, building them requires delegating Commander to that task or an amphibious vehicle con. Then you'd have to deal with increased metal drain, because metal/energy ratio is about double that of windmills (you'd learn that by playing naval). By the time Winter would have that leisure, he might as well just focused on advanced solar. The only player that is favorable to exploit tidals here is the one who did - a guy in the backline with a handy safe lake at his disposal.

    Never ceases to amaze how a few units sneaking past the front line can be ignored by the entire team for minutes, while gutting their eco. Makes no sense. I guess it's the bystander effect; everyone assumes someone else is taking care of it? But, damn, after the first minute of no one moving to intercept, you'd think they'd no something... Really takes the satisfaction out of the win when the enemy is THAT dumb =/ 34:35: SMH

    Blitzes are good stand-in for Pawns on more open maps where you have to control wider fronts. They're marginally faster, so you can slaughter pawns if you know how to handle them, but you also have to be prepared to repair them with your commander - you cannot really throw them away as you would with Pawns. And yes, Janus is the absolute beast - two volleys to obliterate an LLT and an absurd stopping power against most T1 units. Also very demanding on the micro, but Cortex have nothing to match them in sheer burst firepower.

    Econ is complex because timing really depends on reclaim. There's 4 stages - mexing open metal spots, going t2 and upgrading mexes, building fusions + t2 converters, then infinite scaling AFUS and t2 converters with 4 converters per AFU. The earlier you can advance to the next stage, and the more build power/resources you can pump into econ, the better it is for you... but the tricky thing is doing that without dying. You should always be building energy at all stages of the game with at least 1 constructor - add more if you start E-stalling and scale back when you're stable. The rest of your resources should go into units and occasionally build power. If you are stuck on t1 for an extended period, you should continue building energy and start adding t1 converters, too. Always be building energy. If you cannot get reclaim, you will generally have to cut units and be very vulnerable when going from t1 to t2. The trick to having a killer economy is being able to use your reclaim to pump into econ or tech without making yourself so vulnerable. But at the end of the day reclaim is what wins and loses games between the best players, all other things equal, so to compete you have to balance your econ to take the best advantage of reclaim. If you can balance your build power with your income, and get a bit of metal storage, then any time you successfully reclaim it should go into your bank and hold steady. Balancing build power PERFECTLY is hard because it not only depends on how many constructors/nano turrets you have, but also what you are building with them and how time and metal expensive those things are. If you are a newbie you should focus on balancing your build power only building one unit type out of your t1 factories, like Grunts or Blitzes. T1 is the most important stage to balance your build power on, because the step up from t1 to t2 is the most sensitive and challenging, and that makes properly allocating your reclaim at that stage of the game extra important. In my opinion it helps if you can keep your expenses sliightly lower than your income, leaving 1 extra Metal/S so you can bank a little metal and spend it with your commander on things like laser turrets without slowing down your econ or unit production. If your econ is balanced then you can use reclaim to push t2 without cutting unit production, and you can use reclaim to accelerate your econ. If you kill a commander in the first 15 minutes of a game and reclaim it, that is a perfect time to go t2 without having to cut units. If your build output is a lot higher than your econ, and you are stretched too thin, your reclaim will all go poof into accelerating all of your constructors the moment you gain it, and you will have less of a choice of how to use it. In this video Winter did a really good job getting reclaim, but he was overcapped on build power and so most of the time it was just going poof, immediately spreading out to all of his factories and constructors. This is okay in some circumstances but isn't the BEST play, especially if you still have a major economic step still ahead of you. If your build power is balanced then you can make a conscious choice to pump that reclaim directly into economy which is always preferable. For example, if you are t2, and you win a big battle and have several thousand reclaim to grab, it's better if you can put that into an AFU and 4 t2 converters, rather than just extra units... because an extra +40 metal per second is better than just building 3 extra tanks per minute for a little while. The reason i recommend at least 1 metal storage is because when you get that reclaim, you will either need idle constructors to use it right away, or you will need to make some first. Having idle constructors sitting around is a bit of a waste of metal, and building new ones take more time than it usually does to reclaim something, resulting in wasted metal. Having storage gives you some flexibility, so you can bank the reclaim while you add or move build power around to utilize it. It takes a lot of practice and game sense to manage mid and late game econ and build power. Winter isn't quite there yet but he will be if he keeps playing, he's getting better and better.

    @@TheLingWhisperer Damn this is really insightful. One major thing I don't understand is how exactly do you balance build power with econ? Is there a ratio you follow that can help you determine this?

  • @TheLingWhisperer

    @TheLingWhisperer

    Жыл бұрын

    @@kaldra1920 There isn't really a formula because it changes depending on what units you're making and how much metal each mex earns on the map. You can figure out a formula for one unit you spam in the early game, like grunts or blitzes, so you know roughly how many constructors or nanos you need to spend all your income on units and energy. If you can, try to leave a little bit so your com can pump out defense on the front line quickly as needed. But the ratios won't always work out right for that. Sometimes you'll be a couple metal per second over, sometimes you'll be a couple under. Good rules of thumb: don't build more nanos than your econ can support, scale them up with your metal. Nanos are a lot of build power and can be overkill, it's alright to use constructors instead. It's valid to use your com to pump reclaim into tech (or econ) after winning a fight. Keeping a t1 constructor just behind the front line so you can pull your com back and plop down a t2 factory with that extra 300 bp is great if you can keep the factory safe. A good tip is to pay attention to constructor priority. There is a little priority toggle you can flip whenever you have a builder or nano selected. If a nano is set to low priority, it will only get the leftovers after all the high priority constructors have gotten their metal. If your high priority constructors are balanced to your econ, that means the low priority ones will start pumping out metal once you get reclaim coming in. This is good for accelerating AFUs in late game. A bank of nanos on low priority next to your AFUs will put all your reclaim into them as soon as it comes in, as long as you don't have too many high priority nanos on units.

  • @EugeneParallax

    @EugeneParallax

    Жыл бұрын

    @@kaldra1920 There's no such ratio because it depends on what you're producing. For example, you can handle 4+ conturrets if you pumping units in bursts of 5-10 to reinforce the frontline and adapt to the situation, while they amplify building energy production otherwise, but if you prefer to have a constant supply of cheaper units like Grunts/Pawns, then you'd likely stall with more than 2. Stalling means that you'll never reach T2 unless deliberately cutting that line for a while when the moment is right. T2 makes that at least double, unit spam should not take more than 4 turrets per factory, and T3 takes so much resources you'd likely lose count. Like been said, its a matter of many variables and as such a combination of experience and intuition, rather than rules. BAR economics is much more fluid and flexible compared to other classic RTS models, and eventually you even remember the approaches on different maps from the previous successes and downfalls.
