Mixing with baking soda or nonscented litter deodorizer helps with the strong scent! I have a machine litter box that rakes (not the litter robot obviously) and I’ve found increasing the clumping time helps with the machine being able to scoop it better because I think it takes longer to really harden than what they advertise. Love that it’s super absorbent and uses less litter. And super love that it’s more ecofriendly than regular clay litter.

I used clay litter for 20 years, mostly Fresh step. Since I've been using this i can't believe how much better this is ! I found clay litter left more mess on the floor. It clumps up well whatever the cat does. I've been using it about 6 weeks now. I will keep buying this.

I use this litter with sustainably yours. And it’s been a life changer. Mixing them solves the issues of it being way too strong in odor, and also solves the problem that sustainably yours litter gets sour scent after a week of use

You know what, I started mixing it with the multi-cat version and i kinda like it. I will have to try with large grains, because I do not like the original sandy one.

@@SvenandRobbie I’ve tried the large grain as well. But I prefer the performance with the finer grain. However, I do use a top entry litter box from iris to control the tracking. If I double with an litter mat, the tracking probably has decrease about 95%

Sour scent?! Nooooo 😢 I want to go back to a natural litter. I loved walnut but not the brown dust on my white cats paws

We've fully swapped to this litter for our 4 cats. It's the same price per box as the clump and slide we were using so we really don't have any complaints other than the tracking. But we had similar issues with our other litter too

i have had cats for over 20 years and have used many brands of litter. Hardball is by far the best litter I have ever used. The odor control is great and it keeps the litter box clean and dry. I will recommend this to everyone I know who owns cats.

Have either you or the woman whose channel this is tried out Ökocat litter before? Once I tried it- and I cannot stress this enough- it changed my LIFE. I've never even thought once about turned back since I first tried it; I know it's made of wood, which is less 'sustainable' than corn(?), but _WAY_ more than clay mines, & IIRC, made from upcycled logs that would've gone to waste anyway. Oh and it also costs WAY less than normal clay litter, per lb!

I have tried it. I liked it and thought it did a nice job, but wasn't super impressed. I've tried two of their litters. Which one do you like?

this helped me decide on buying this! it’s in my amazon cart ready to buy next week! my real test will be …will it stick to the litter robot or will it slide to the bin when it’s rotating!? we shall see!

This litter is the best !! It lasts so much longer than all other litters, but unfortunately one of my cats is not a fan of it.... So I just use 2 litter boxes now... I'm still saving money with one less cat burning thru clay litter.

Speaking of Arm&Hammer. Have you tried the clumping version of FelinePine?. I’ve been seeing them at my local petcos. Currently using Ökocat and want to stick to wood based litter. I’m a huge Arm&Hammer fan and (unfortunately) used their clay litter with great success.

Ökocat is the BEST sustainable litter on the planet, changed my life- and also costs way less compared to clay litter, per lb. I sound like a shill but I swear I just really, really love them LOL. Only downside really is *how long* can 'sustainable' upcycled wood litter really be, when we run out of unusable logs...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was reading reviews of this product on Amazon and the company has stated that they have no plans to make a unscented version of this litter. I can only use unscented so this is a bummer.

I agree with hoping they make an unscented version. I love this litter but cannot stand the scent. I sprinkle the arm and hammer litter deodorizer into the litter to help with the scent. Anyway, love the clumping power and hate the tracking! I saw one comment above about how their cats are having medical problems. This concerns me. My one cat is throwing up more than his normal hairballs and I wonder if the litter has anything to do with it…

I've tried two other A&H litters and wasn't impressed but after this review..idk maybe I will give hardball a chance.

I tried the hardball litter for a month. I really wanted to like this litter. I wanted a lighter weight litter than traditional clay. It is pricey. All 5 cats really did not want to use it unless I mixed it with their normal arm and hammer clay litter. Even a month later I still had to mix it. The pros was no dust. Clumping was ok but I didn’t see much difference from clay. The issue for me was the tracking and really the cats just did not like it. It tracked throughout the house I think because of the weight and that was with litter mats. For the price I would try a different brand.

Mine clumped so strong. I couldn’t use it in the litter robot because it just stuck to the bottom like super glue!

Guess I'm kinda oddball here. Finally tried it, but still not sure I like it. It's amazing with urine - those solid clumps are great - easy clean up. I bought the "Unscented", but there was quite an overbearing scent to it regardless, that I added a layer of baking soda to the bottom before placing the litter in it. The mess the trail from the box is still just as bad, only harder to see because my floors are hardwood, almost the same color as the litter. May try one more time, only wish the box came with more than 1 litter box fill and no refill for the price I paid - our litter box is large because we have multiple cats. Sitting the fence on this one.

I have a top entry litter box and Hardball is the cleanest least tracking litter I've ever used I hardly ever sweep litter anymore compared to clay litters

I have this in one of Shadow’s litterboxes. She hasn’t touched it. I wonder if it’s the scent?(I normally use unscented clumping clay).

It probably is the scent! Cats are sensitive to smells and this litter is sooooo freaking strong. I hope they come out with an unscented version soon

Yup! Pine pellets! Doesn't work for everyone though and your cats might never take to it. For clumping, I love Sustainably Yours.

Why did you switch from the Tractor Supply pine pellets to the Arm and Hammer Feline Pine? The latter is so much more expensive.

Just the time spent and gas it takes to get to my closest tractor supply co is not worth it to me.

It's been a year since this review and I've come across similar comments to this one I am "quoting" below. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? TIA. "DO NOT USE! We currently have all four house cats who can’t urinate or poop because of ingesting this litter, it is very fine and gets on their fur when they use it so when they groom themselves (as all cats do)it can be ingested. It is sand-like, we had only been using it for 6 weeks when the symptoms started. The pain this can cause a cat is torture and I’m sure if you are a pet owner you can only imagine the expense from the vet. All caused by Arm & Hammer and this litter. AGAIN DO NOT USE. Thought it was the best litter ever until those “virtually indestructible clumps” were inside my cats."

Has anyone used this with a self cleaning rake litter box? I can’t stand Crystal litter! Or the thought of my cat constantly going in dirty litter so I am looking for a litter that would clump and not break in the rake!

I wouldn't use this i an automatic litter box...might be okay with the rake kind. I am using it with my Litter Robot and those clumps are stuck on there well! I have to manually remove it eventually because gravity just doesn't work!

I tried this litter, and it was hands-down the worst litter I've ever used. The scent of it was completely overwhelming. It was so strong it about knocked me over when I opened the bag. I use the Litter Robot 3, and it turned the inside of my Litter Robot into the worst mess. It was stuck all over the inside of the globe, and got into places in the robot I've never seen litter before. The clumps weren't hard like they advertise, either. Maybe it works better in a regular litter box, but in the Litter Robot it was horrible.

Omg I just tried it in our LR and it did not work well in there at all. It stuck so strong on the bottom that it just stayed there until I manually pulled it off 😅

@@SvenandRobbie It was awful! For me it ended up stuck all over the inside of the globe, not just on the bottom. I couldn't get it changed out to a different litter fast enough! And when I took my LR apart to clean up that mess, I found the Hardball litter in all kinds of crevices that I'd never found litter before. I won't ever use Hardball again! At least not in a LR!

@@SvenandRobbie No mold in my carbon filter. The clumps that did make it into the drawer were soft and mushy, not hard at all. I went back to using Fresh Step Outstretch Advanced. That's worked best for me out of the litters I've tried in the LR. I've never tried Sustainably Yours.

It's definitely awful smelling, and it also made a mess of my automatic robot

I absolutely hate this litter. The fragrance stink, but worse, it does hardly anything for smells. The scent got really really weird after being used. I can't wait to be done with it.

I actually think it is eco friendly. I thought I saw somewhere that says it’s made of sorghum. Some litters are made of materials that do not breakdown; example being clay

They work differently. I love them both. Hardball clumps are pretty hard, the scent can be overwhelming, and it tracks quite a bit even with a litter mat. Worlds Best clumps well, but not as well as Hardball. However, it is unscented and tracking is minimal with a litter mat in my experience. Both are great depending on what you can and cannot deal with 😅

We call the pee clumps chicken cutlets. 😂

This litter is magnetic or something. It sticks to my plastic cup, and litter pops off and hits me in the face.

How are your cats doing now? My dog just got into the litter box after starting to use this. It’s not something he usually does so I didn’t consider the potential complications of him getting into it. After reading your comment I’m worried about my cat too. I’m heading to the store now to buy different litter.

@@rvhermitlife7083 Because of our vets quick intervention and our decision to stop using the litter all of them are healthy ,not one issue after we went back to Tidycat. Arm And Hammer showed no concern for our cats health or the vet expense to have all four cats blockages removed. It was disappointing to say the least. I am hopeful your dog and cat don’t experience any issues. Our issues didn’t show up until after about 6 weeks of use,so I bet your babies will be fine since you acted quickly. An ingredient they use to make the litter is also used in dog and cat food and treats which may explain why your dog decided to try some. Two cats had blockage of the urethra and the other two were intestinal blockage so just monitor them.we knew something was wrong when our cats stopped eating and we’re not pooping or peeing at all. Hope you don’t have to go through what we did☹️

It smells really bad. Like a strong chemical smell. Really bad.
