@@Tsupek Steam has been "holding" edited Reviews of ARK for the last few weeks now, it took me five or six tries to do an edit on mine. I have also been Banned from the Steam Forums three times now in the last two weeks... my First EVER bans in any forum ever... hmmm.. The comment that got me banned was this [aprox] 'This Patch [that's all it is] is just the long over due FIXEs we all as ARK owners deserve. We have waited many Many years now for the Very Fixes they Promised to us all... now it's behind a fake Pay wall.' ... That got me banned for a month. I guess I shouldn't swear so much :P

I previously recommended the game. Last few weeks I have changed my review to state that it's closing in August and I do not recommend the game, but I still love the game.

How is $60 “basically free”? I play Ark with a group and we have global chat in game so WildCard should know their fan base is pissed. I haven’t seen or heard anybody excited for ASA or Ark 2

Imao, wildcard realised that they weren’t gonna get sales on ark 2 from the veterans because of how drastically different it is, so they went oh shit, and released this in an attempt to make back that money.

These posts read like Snail Games saying: "Hello fellow gamers. Boy, these devs are great! What a great value!"

Ark is a great game, I've played it for 8 years..... but the devs have always been the worst part of the experience. Anyone who has played since the open Beta could tell you that the Devs never gave a shit about anything. It took them FOREVER to fix even game-breaking glitches. Like the one where your entire system had a siezure because lightning struck when you happened to be looking at water. Took months for them to do something about it. Every chance they had to fix the game was spent on introducing a new creature or skin set. They never listened to their player base and were always so proud of everything and quick to give themselves credit even for the player made maps. The devs just need to grow the f**k up, get over themselves, and stop being so damn GREEDY.

You coudl argue as crystal wyvern are well wyverns, not dragons- dragons have 4 limbs and a pair of wings while wyverns have 2 wings at the front and 2 limbs in the back

I'm sorry the zoologist point I have to mark off as a player with years worth of time into the game. Zoologist is when you tame every creature in the game. You can play the games for years and never get that done or feel like you need to. There are just a lot of creatures that people can go their whole ark like not taming. Like the spider and titanboa. Hell my last creature I tame for it was surprisingly the Phombia because I may of accidentally deleted my progress. Or just never tamed one myself

Everyone I have friended (Minus one with 11K hours, she specifically went for all the achievements) are missing ascension and zoologist. Most are missing explorer too. I also don't got alot myself. There was a point before achievements or achievements got revamped or something, can't remember, so a lot of early access/early game players just never bothered getting them. Not to mention that if you main non-story maps then you won't get a lot of these too. Rag and Fjor my beloveds lol

@Kah Bellakyra lmao I was equally as shocked. But I have it on console and back in its early days I had to wipe my files a few time to hot fix a lot of stuff back then, like game corruption. So who knows if that also erase the times I did tame them.

Not taking up for them, but master zoologist is kinda rare for some people. Some stuff just dosnt get tamed by most people.

Go into single player. Be able to build a trap for every size creature, keep a notebook of the ones you've already tamed, compare that with a list of all creatures (not just "all creatures that are on the list") and wash, rinse, repeat until it's done. Takes a long time but it's possible.

Wildcard basically stating "Bow down to our chinese overlords"

Thank you for doing an investigation into this. I knew there was something fishy about these accounts. Half of them are not set up, have very few hours in the game yet still give a positive review anyway, or just flat out blowing smoke up the companies butt.

Number of achievements to hours played means nothing. I've got 4000 hrs in the game and only have 23 achievements. That just depends on style or way of playing and what you're in to. This is not a "red flag". As for the "Master Zoologist" I'm pretty sure most players don't have this achievement, unless they make it a challenge to get it done. I'm a PVE player and only tame dinos necessary in a PVE setting. Utility and Boss Fighters. There are MANY MANY dinos in the game that there is really no use for them in PVE other than food, hide or drops to do the boss fights.

It would not surprise me if they are using something like ChatGPT or something to create those posts. They have posted on every Community Crunch since and everybody is like, “Let’s wait and see how long it takes them to comment.” How has the world become such a shady place, more than it was before. I have noticed that a lot of the streamers and youtube video makers out there are also buying into the new ASA and absolutely love the idea and cannot wait for it to come out so that they can buy it and play it. The wool has been pulled thick over their eyes in my opinion.

I have noticed that too. Ark KZreadrs are desperate because their Channels are going to die. Making Videos Like "Why ASA is Worth It" doesnt help the Viewer or Player. It only helps them to be relevant as a KZreadr. They Join the shady Business this way IMO

Yeah, but you have to understand that most of them make a living out of ark streams/videos. I hate it to, but most of them can not afford or are to scared to take a stand against WC, because they could loose their income and most of them are Ark only content makers, so changing the content would most likely cost them tons of followers. Not ereryone can be a H.O.D and call wildcard out and give a shit about their negative response to you.

To some extend im not sure about Ark remaster but on the other hand im sort of excited for it since for me it would be an opportunity to play Ark from the beginning with others since i wasnt there last time. I came to Ark just before Gen 1 was released so i kind of missed most of it. I did catch up to the story eventually but it wasnt the same anymore since my "friends" who used to play Ark already did it and basically retired from the game.

Revealing such Methods really calms me down and is satisfaction For me. All of it surrounding Justice. Btw: Master Zoologist isnt really easy to accomplish, because Most people Just skip it. There are 2-3 Dinos very hard to tame. But the example Highest Peak is way easier. You Just have to stand on the volcano on The Island or at the blue Obelisk. You do that within your First week playing the Game. By the Looks of it, this Dude is either an Admin of WC or a Crafting account For official. Probably Chinese, because No dots and No commas. Just my Observation, no facts

If you play the game regularly, like a good gamer should, you have to invest a lot of time into taming all creatures. Even if Taming speed is on 100 and hatching all around only taking half an hour for a Giga, you still have to take about 3-4 hours taming Troodons or preparing alot to tame a Titanosaurs (without a Mek)

One minor thing you misunderstood with steam the points it showed on the profile's awards page was just from the awards themselves as when someone else awards your post you're given points for it, but yeah having that many non clown awards from that account in of itself is pretty damning evidence.

Stuff like this happens all over steam, there is an entire group dedicated to spamming mega threads until they get locked.

After repeated trial and error of dealing with Facebook jail I've gotten pretty good at reversing these types of trolls. Being able to manipulate algorithms with sarcasm and being passive aggressive can really draw the trolls into being the one to make the mistake. If they are there just to cause chaos and get the negative posts shut down then maybe play outside the box. Block those accounts and make your post. I'm not sure if they will be able to respond or not since I haven't experimented with that or have any knowledge, but could be an answer. Just step around them completely. Knowing how slimy Snails are (pun intended), this is most likely coming from their side.

I have encountered these public relations accounts across many games. The best action I have discovered. Is to take your time on thoroughly shutting them down with a solid "single" comment countering all their points. They will fire back with mere accusation towards in attempt to garner them more ability to keep posting. All you have to do is never reply to them. Talk in third person about how some other guy saying "topic" in such a way is lying or deceiving people. All the while responding to another person entirely. Next, never quote them other than the first response. Quoting them pings their account so they know to respond. Avoid that all costs. Lastly, these accounts are basically untouchable. They exist to serve the company's interests and get special privilege. When you see these types of accounts appear. Their goal is to get the negative speakers banned or the thread locked. Its important you avoid conversation with them. Or they will use anything/everything to get some sort of negative exchange going. So they can report each of your posts for moderation to address. Even if you break no rules that is enough for moderation to ban you. Merely because you had an exchange with one of these paid PR accounts. These PR accounts will "never" stop responding as it only aids them.

Dude is highly confident in a game nobody has even seen yet.

Because then you don't have inside information and are saying it will be good as a fact with 0 evidence to back it up. Also your review is highly misleading. Does it have a decent in depth lore? Sure. Will majority of solo story oriented players ever experience it? No. Saying it has super story driven and explain everything is misleading. You have to scavenge every official map for those boxes and records to piece it together. Its a massive grind and casual story gamers will absolutely hate this. Least bugs in a game? Do you have the absolute latest pc or something? Its an unoptimized mess. Babies fall through floors when hatched. Ext. I've seen many games with less bugs. And I work in games QA. Aka finding bugs. The AI is Hella simple and loses its shine after 10 hours. They bee line in straight line and then repath if they can. The AI is not all that. Its incredibly simplistic with some commands and patrols. It is suspicious almost all your reviews are just copy pasta and minimal but ark you are all over it. It is highly suspicious. Also. Most toxic community on earth? Blatantly false. The nicest community I've seen. Altho maybe varies where you go. I found a Facebook group that is really kind. The official players are sweaty try hards tho. But have you ever played mech warrior? Yikes. Now thats a toxic community that will rip your head off for being under 300 iq with any single move you make. Seriously cringe. And explain the other 4 accounts all saying the same thing as you minutes apart. I'll give you credit where credit is due most your games you review you have plenty of hours. But I find your d2 review misleading as you only have 3 hrs so there's no way you experienced the full package. Maybe you played before it was on steam tho idk. But yeah. How can you say ascended will be all its hyped to he and totally worth rebuying everything AGAIN AFTER they said it would be free? You haven't played it. You haven't seen it. So on what grounds and what evidence can you provide that your claims are true? Like its ok to like a game. I have around 3.5k hr in ark between all platforms. I love ark. Its one of my favorite games. Doesn't mean I have to be wildcards or snails lap dog and shill blatant misinformation just because I want it to be true. Its sad. And for the record I believe wild card has good intentions. Id put money on the issues and mess ups being snail games.

Apon reviewing brains profile deeper i think they're a troll account. They have 55 steam guides of utter troll nonsense. Most their reviews are as basic as basic gets with minimal hrs in game. I think they aren't an ark dev or employee of snail or wildcard but just a troll who really likes ARK and unwilling to see the reality of the situation. Best let the troll starve.

I have over 2500 hrs and don’t have master zoologist - also have over a million steam points (due mainly cause I’m addicted) - other than that Thanks much for the informative vids. And keep it up.

I've been wondering if this game should be reported. A lot of the positive reviews recently made have less than 30 titles on their account.

Glad someone got the energy to dive a little deeper into this. My own attempts to engage them in normal conversation were, as you've shown, quite frustrating. To the point where I had to step back to conserve my mental health. They are simply infuriating. Interesting to note is that almost all of the alleged "alts" have sent me *friend requests* . Supposedly to "talk it out". They were probably looking for access to information on *me* they could use in their campaign though, so needless to say I ignored them.

They are unable to take any criticism. When they banned ini files the pvp community went crazy. I put into the ark discord complaining about being meshed the day it came out and there inability to help us, but they were able to fix ini. No support for being meshed just got banned from the discord for being an “idiot troll”

What is truly out of control is this disgusting company and the scam that they intend to "impose" on users is absurd, not only what this and other companies in the media intend to do, but even more what influencers and KZreadrs try to do at the same time. stand up to players for defending junk companies like this

Not sticking up for them, but things happen with achievements. My game has more than 5000 hours, I've beat the bosses several times on several maps and none of them are unlocked. I may never get master zoologist because I'm not willing to sacrifice a tame to get another on purpose. (btw, I spent full price on the pre-order, full price on the expansion pack, and full price on the GEN pack, so no, I'm not spending another $120 on the same game)

They posted all together on Community Crunch 358 immediately after it posted. April 21 as soon as CC posted

Imagine all this chaos and being one of the big names in the upcoming anime and then finding out the people behind the game act like this..... i'd quit and say you cant use my voice.

This is why i am so sad I love ark and want to continue with this series but this stuff here and what they are currently doing is wrong and honestly I hope it goes bad for them...cause if this works out for them then other gaming companies are going to start doing the same too.....unless they change their things around I am not supporting them.

Can confirm companies or steam itself is paid to mass post positive reviews. There are also PR bots or people paid to always post positive responses in forums. I have noticed this trend ever since Metro Exodus and Epic games in 2019. Who knows how long it has been happening. But I have watched copy/paste replies in forums for any negative feedback in multiple games since 2019. And I have watched games like Star Base have massive negative review numbers come in. Only for there to be a counter flood of positive empty reviews. Or I have seen for example, where 10 negative reviews come in dropping the overall score. But 2 positive reviews come in massively boosting the overall game score itself. It is becoming easier for me to point them out as time goes on. These fake accounts have a handful of talking points they apply to every conversation. Or they will recycle their own previous statements as if the conversation never progressed. If you manage to get a real person paid to speak positively. Eventually they will get upset by losing their stance and attempt to either derail the thread or upset you. Which is then used as an excuse for moderation to silence you with a perm ban or locking the thread. Even if you broke no actual rules and the other account used demeaning language. You will be the one banned not them. Or they will use that person's posts as an excuse for the thread being off topic or heading no where to warrant a locked thread. These are all very common patterns I have witnessed to silence any negative discussion of a product. If you want to counter act their paid positive review bots. Upvote every negative review in every language. Its the only way remaining to us that counters their actions in the score. Its the only way remaining to us that counters their actions in the score. Either way, these games have massive advantages assisting them to keep their product positive. Yet still fail somehow when they disregard their own community. So their product ratings get artificially altered to look more appealing and thus more sales for steam. Instead of losing money for making poor decisions that upset their community. Claiming the backlash is mere review bombing. If you want to see similar bot actions in another game. Check out starbase and look for starbase/general discussions and thread: A Developer To Avoid.

Valve need to get on this and come up with a way to prevent this stuff. Such as no one word posts. No extra reviews from the same IP address and removing the ability to review for accounts that frequently contradict popular opinion on bad games as well as any infraction of the first two suggestions.

Works just fine - with the hit box detection on par w/ Fromsoft and the gun/ arrow play of FarCry. Sarcastic eye roll inserted here. Still have a decent amount of hours in game along with 4 undedicated servers that mostly get used for solo or dual play. But yes it’s a mess I especially love the undetected arrows visually hitting my target over and over with one or two connecting. If not for mods I would of set this down along time ago.

Master zoologist takes forever in legit gameplay, it's so hard that I just gave up on it.

I noticed this back in that first ASA announcement post as well. I did in fact block each of their accounts due to their behavior. Here's something bannable for them: On one, possibly more of their profile pages, there is a malicious link posted. What it does? I have no clue but it can't be good. Someone should make a burner account and investigate. Get those accounts shut down for violating Valve's TOS. Because I'm pretty sure that whatever it is their links are doing... Isn't good. They might've taken those links down since I saw them, but who knows? They might just still be there...

Great work in sniffing out the dirty coming from this situation, keep up the great videos, i know they must be a lot of work!

This literally happenes everywhere nowadays

Mostly well covered points you've made regarding what's going on. Some things I'd like to mention from this video. Steam points can be farmed as anyone can give you an award and those points valued with the award are given to you. You dont need to buy them. Award farming then has become a mini game on steam by which trolls either through intentionally too positive or negative posts and threads, especially at times of controversy for a game can gather hundreds of thousands of points. Basically steam has groomed this behavior because it does of course invariably become a micro transaction for those also addicted to responding to those farm trolls and why steam really doesnt go after them unless they too openly violate steams rules. You are absolutely correct that dudewithabrain is ratting and getting people banned who step over line with steams rules. People either get too caught up in responding to such trolls or they just dont know those rules. They should, as you recommend be more cautious with how they respond. Dudewithabrain though has crossed those lines themselves(and across more than one account.) But they dont care. Their steam points arent taken away. But any responses to dudewithabrain eventually can lead to a thread being locked(like 3 thread(2 being the community news ones) because its all derailing. And while blocking is good advice, unfortunately it doesn't help address that they're not being held accountable outside of places like this or reporting on steam(and yes they've gotten in trouble for their actions in the past as you'll read on to see). This is why instead of reporting the posts they do, it is better for people to make direct reports to steam support linking this video and another information as to how systematic their trolling/ratting has been. With ark achievements though, lots of players dont go after the achievements unless they want to out of wanting the ingame skin unlocks (in which case many use admin commands or mods that insta unlock them). Master Zoologist isnt that easy to get if playing normally but not super super hard(just takes some time of course). Point is people can go thousands of hours in Ark just building and nothing more or some focusing on mod play etc. Dudewithabrain and their sockpuppets have been harassing the Ark forums for a while now and well before the recent controversies with Ascended. Simple go back in the post history of dudewithabrain to January and you'll see a locked thread they were trolling with then as just one example. You also didnt mention how Dudewithabrain and his sockpuppets were/are harassing people on their steam profile pages in comments (and that was discussed in one of the locked community crunch news threads). They too were doing this sort of trolling too before the Ascended announcement when people were arguing against them in other threads that were locked/removed etc too. There are 3 sets of moderators related to the Steam platform that warrant mentioning and discussing: 1- Developers can moderator the forums of their game as they wish and their rules can overrule that of steam's in many(not all) cases. This is why there are really bad games where people points something bad out (without being nasty) and their steam account is banned from posting on that game's forums. 2- Game Volunteer moderators are appointed by the developer, usually fans or similar but not limited to that, to help moderator a game's forum. They too can override the typial steam banning/removal rules but also with limitations. 3- Steam's normal moderators are restricted to following the specific steam guidelines for posting and cannot overstep. All that being then understood, people getting banned for arguing with dudewithabrain are getting popped for their breaking steam's rules and by steam moderators. Wildcard tends to avoid moderating ark's steam forums, the largest community of their player base for years now. Even volunteer mods have handled less and less over time too for them. Also, people looking into dudewithabrain outside of steam are suspecting that he is a neckbeard from Texas with the last name Cummings(thus no coincidence regarding one of his alt's names). Google then puts out a wealth of info once you start looking into that.

Nice summary. As said these accounts are most likely funded by someone higher. Considering recent events since release of Ark roadmap, to some extend i understand that they had to do what they eventually did because of what happened with Snail and charging 59,99 for ASA is in a way still decent since it includes all the DLCs although no Ark 2 but it could have been worst. In my opinion its still pretty stupid to basically preorder game that will not be out for over 16 months and still it may get delayed once more. In consideration of Snail, maybe WildCard should go self publish as recently Giants Software did with Farming Simulator 22. I do not know what they would need to do for it and i do not know how difficult it would be for WildCard but maybe it could be step in the right direction for the future of Ark. Its just an idea and as i repeat myselft i do not know what outcome that would cause for Ark comunity.

I 100% agree with EVERYTHING you said except for 1 thing... You actually DO fight "Crazy" with more "Crazy"... You out crazy them!

Even if they're not directly connected they are acting as such, it doesn't take being paid by a company to be a zealot for them. I can easily see them being all the same exact user and just swapping between them to copy/paste and modify the same statements. If they are hired on by Wildcard to run interference for them, I wouldn't be surprised (given their previous missteps). Enjoying the behind-the-scenes content about the sheer stupidity of Ark's parent company and developers where they're trying to take advantage of their users.

I have around 3k hrs in Ark and I don't have the master zoologist achievement but I'm not an achievement hunter. I only play sp as well and there are plenty of useless creatures and nuisance creatures that I don't care to tame bc they have no use in sp (pego, megaloceros, gallimimus etc) I just play Ark for fun as a dinosaur collector game for the creatures that captured my imagination as a child Edit: this is another thing WC would need to do differently with Ark2 to get me on board. If they are gonna have an achievement for taming everything then make it worth the effort to obtain it. No more untameable and/or useless creatures that only exist to throttle players progression or be food for something else

Ugh... Ark was one of my favorite games. It's sad how this is all happening, effectively ruining it.

I guarantee you everyone will forget about this when the game comes out and everyone is playing it and everyone will jump on the bandwagon like they never hated on it.

So there's antagonists on the Steam forum. Wow, what a revelation. I started watching this waiting for a point to the whole thing, but couldn't make it to the end since I realized I really didn't care about this.

Its almost certainly a dev or publisher source. Probably also Chinese. Its a thing that is done in China to boost reviews of things and its not behavior frowned on over there. Amazon is loaded with similar scenarios.

Ive worked with shady game devs and publishers before. This is a tried and true tactic. It is likely an employee or higherup forcing fake good pr. Trying to create a favorable talking point or stear the narrative. As for the hours and lack of achievements. Thats likely a testing account used in QA and development spending countless hours doing the same repetitive tests. And of course they make reviews for everything ark. My guess is this isnt alts and mains but rather the qa or dev team following the same scripts and doing it while at work and cracking jokes. Like. Ive been with a team that did this. I personally didn't do it and called it out with my personal account. But yea. This screams wildcard employees artificially trying to force positive pr.

Although i did reply a bunch, i gave up, i just sit back and will await this mess that is called ASA. If words dont matter, lets actions speak, let WC show what 'amazing superenhanced' ASA will eventualy be, or even be delayed (my big gues). They seen a huge growth in custom/private servers non-official, maybe thats where their goal lies, piggybag on creators to make paid mods, get 50% of it, and be succesfull. Let youtubers and others 'promote' their game by playing the game with their mods. Maybe its succes, maybe its big fail, i still am in my official server every day knowning all too well it will end. But at least i came terms with it, i will go on my terms.

"What are they doing with their time in ARK" ....i have over 20k hours and still havent unlocked master zoologist... i love the building mechanics, and defending the base. We've grown so much over the years its more about maintenance now.

I have seen this all unfold firsthand, what makes dudewithabrain look even worse is that the claim they are modder for ARK, yet looking at their Steam Workshop page, they have only very rudimentary mods, with two hidden, as it only shows four (last I checked), but said they had six. They also had no clear knowledge of how mods worked, as the comments of one thread showed with myself and several others calling them out for their misinformation, even when they showed "proof" to back up their claim, the aforementioned "proof" did not strengthen their case, it actually harmed it, as the timestamp they claimed did not say what they claimed. Eventually they tripped up, contradicted themselves and then doubled, tripled and even quadrupled down on their lies. Unsure on the other accounts, but dudewithabrain also makes very poor attempts at gaslighting in the threads too, they are so poorly transparent when they do it that they make a windowpane look opaque.If dudewithabrain and the other accounts are not employed by Wildcard or Snail Games in any way, they are fanatical to the point of extreme zealotry. People say the Final Fantasy XIV community is zealous to a fault, but no, you only get "attacked" by the FFXIV community when you say things that are fundamentally false or misinformed, as even the most diehard FFXIV fans will happily admit the game has flaws and will not hesitate to call Square Enix out on it. If you want zealous behaviour, dudewithabrain and their alts are the perfect example of it, they attempt to silence even the most minor criticism and try make Wildcard and Snail Games look like the exemplars of perfection, even going so far as to try claim features that are the result of mods are part of the base game. There is also a rumor that either Wildcard or Snail Games have paid off a Steam moderator as both treads were closed by the same moderator and strangely several posts on both threads that were still on topic, but highly critical of Wildcard were removed, but it is just that, a rumor. I have since unsubscribed from every single ARK discussion I was part of, even threads I started myself years back, after the behaviour Wildcard and Snail Games have shown, as well as enabling the actions of dudewithabrain and his alts, I want absolutely zero to do with them. Since I obviously can't get a refund for ARK, I will actually be removing it from my account, I have zero desire to ever touch that hard drive bloater or anything from either company again.

I think it’s supposedly a bot to meat ride WC and make them look great. In truth like you have said before, upgrades are normally free. To try to charge us 60 bucks for it is crazy. I really hope this isnt something forced by WC maybe its just some crazy WC meat rider. Either way it sucks that whoever it is, is willing to say that lmao.

You make some great points about this guy/group of guys. The only piece of evidence I don't agree with is the master zoologist. I've been playing ark for almost 6 years and never got this. You have to get all the island creatures to get this and I started playing on rag. the tames still count, but I somehow never got the achievement. You can unlock it with a cheat code on single player, but I was trying to earn it, not just get it. I tried to leave a warning review on the Microsoft store, but it somehow glitched and I couldn't post it. Strange, huh? Sorry about the slight rant above, I guess you struck a nerve with the achievement thing. :)
