I think this game was won in the first card draw. Getting the Breeding Program with what you already had was just amazing, and Side Entrance with the Macaw just seems like an auto-win.

It was a very strong start, but not unbeatable.

Cool game! 3rd partner zoo before conservation is a pattern I will keep in mind. Side Entrance placement was very instructive. Finishing the game without the 4th action upgrade is also something I hadn’t considered. Look forward to more games!

I usually get all 4 upgrades, but I needed Asia as 4th partner zoo to play my monkeys, and this game was quite fast. I like to get my worker by round 3 (unless I find a full-throated card) either with 3rd partner zoo or 8 reputation.

Doing build 1 before getting america parter zoo seems very risky. If opponent is also on the 2 america's plan and takes it before you do, all plans are out the window. Since you had priority on getting partner zoo you didnt need to keep the euro bird, but when I dont have prio I would have kept it as a backup plan. 4:14 I think you should always do association at 5 for a project ( either americás 2 or bird breeding). This lets you upgrade build making it a much stronger action especially since we have a huge amount of money for second round. This also lets you get extra worker and to make sure you can use that, you want asso going back up the track asap. Because of this, I don't like advancing the break and drawing cards first actions. I'd probably put it back for an X, because you want this round to last. ( Heck, you could even play both america's animals and do the project after, but then getting the extra worker is more risky) EDIT: You adres this 30 seconds later, but I still feel wating for america's 4 for the 1 extra CP is a mistake. The upgrade and better use of asso at 5 is worth more than the extra cp. Also blocking america's 2 makes it more of a risk for opponent, because if they want to support it they need 4 symbols for 3cp. Getting to 4 leaves them the easy 2 EDIT2: It's crazy the amount of primates showing up for the mandrill.

1. Opponent took Europe before I did build 1. I would have had to assoc before sponsor, which would be a serious issue if the round goes long. Keeping euro bird as backup would have been prudent. 2. I get an upgrade either way. I would get a worker which is wasted, I would not get the 2-size income, and I'd lose a CP. Using your strongest action (assoc 5) on 2CP is below average, it's better to deny the 3CP spot.

I personaly go basic research, side entrance, and 2 bird. first few move: build size 1 at the 5 money, taking partner zoo(i dont want to risk to the oponent taking it), side entrance, build size 1, play macaw or card depends if opponent can trigger the brake, if card first than build after animal. total cost macaw 13, owl 12 =25 you get 5 money and spend 4 for build 2x1 size. after break geting extra worker and upgrade build, association or sponsor, maybe animal if i get good one and see a way to the fast 2nd upgrade

Good idea to not take cards first. Normally I like to take cards to maximize my options before I decide what to do, but since my cards are already very strong and I don't need any 5 strength actions, it's better to wait. I prefer not to take the $5 because it slows down my income, and wouldn't plan on upgrading sponsors for Basic Research.

Its give bigger income. You still placeing side entrance the same place but U van go 3 kiosk or 2 kiosk 1 pavilon

@@Elamate90 I already went 2 kiosk 1 pavilion, which is max income for side entrance. If you build on the $5 you're slower to surround the Park Restaurant.

3rd kios can go next to the size 1 enclouser that covering the 5 money

@@Elamate90 The 3rd kiosk is only 1 income. The pavilion is 3-4 income (2 from side entrance, 1 from adjacent kiosk, 0-1 from appeal. Plus you cover 2 spaces instead of surrounding Restaurant, so -2 income until you finish that.

I find it Hard to get to utilize the third worker early, because one either needs min 3 x's for the double association action og needs a second association action at 3 or 4, which seldom is possible Due to breaks?

If you have extra workers you can get 2 rep with a partner zoo, or spend 2x on partner zoo + university. 2nd worker is quite valuable, 3rd worker much less.

@@strategyadvisor5604 Third worker is a must last 1 or 2 rounds to support multiple projects in 1 round.

This game is an example of a dream starting and I still don't think it was utilized fully. It is not worth to go out of your way with 2 icons for america for 3 points instead of 2. Not only do you commit too much for 1 CP you also leave out the easier option for your opponent even if they were off to a bad start instead of blocking. Owl would have been much better keep instead of 3rd america animal.

​@@strategyadvisor5604 1. It would give your more options (you drew breeding program and he had europe animal to support it on 2 before you, but you couldn't know it at that time) 2. You would prevent him from supporting it on 2. This would slow him down a lot giving you better odds. Not saying you played it bad, but it was a minor change that could have mattered if you didn't start with such an insane hand.

Lol this game was a joke. Side entrance + Federal Grants. Scarlet Macaw + Bird Breeding Program. Has to be the best card draw I’ve ever seen. No strategy needed when all the stars align like this

Agree. a start like this doesnt really need a strat guide. Also not that many interesting decisions early game. Even some moves I would consider mistakes.

In the 2nd round, why not go for the bird breeding program with you association action?

That's a great question. The main benefit of early breeding program is getting the 3rd upgrade (from reputation) sooner. If I had more reputation and could get that upgrade immediately, I'd do it. Delaying the partner zoo means I'd have to get my worker from a conservation bonus, missing out on 3 x-tokens later. Playing the Hippo this round, which requires Africa, is very good because I end the round before opponent plays animals and deny their income. Playing the breeding program also gives them the option of supporting it.
