ARISE NEWS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH NIGERIA’S PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

ARISE News spoke exclusively to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. It's the first interview he's granted since beginning his second term in office more than two years ago. He told us about his worries for different parts of the country - including the northwest which he said was his biggest concern. He says the people there are the same - with the same culture - but despite that they're killing each other. He told us he's given the police and military the power to be ruthless with those behind the insecurity in the region. But the president wasn't so open when it came to the topic of Twitter - saying only that he'd keep that to himself. Here's our full interview.

He's not speaking like a president, he's complaining about everything just like you and i will do. Whereas he has the power to change what he's complaining about.

Absolutely and spot on. He does not realise that he is the leader and that the responsibility for bringing about change rests on his shoulders as the leader. This is a failure in basic leadership maybe due to ignorance. It will help if future leaders of Nigeria be made to undergo leadership training before starting the job of leading the country.

@@miraol9620 200 million citizens can never agree on doing anything on their own cos the population is too high and there aren't going to be meetings that accommodate millions of people, that's why leaders are delegated to do tasks. It's foolishness to rely on citizens to make things happen. It never works. In a big population lies chaos, disagreement, foolishness, corruption, confusion, wisdom etc., all working together. The entropy level of a big population is too high. So, we need leaders at all levels to lead the way. All of us can't be involved in the making of key decisions for Nigeria, that's why we have executive leaders to do the job.

Yes, he is complaining because even if he take action people like you would start crying and accusing the president of persecuting his people, some unpatriotic people would be calling for international help, the stupidity of some Nigerians as regards to Twitter ban in Nigeria is an example of that, it has become clear that there is grand conspiracy by Twitter and international media against our country but birdbrains among us decide ignore the risk and choose to be bigots because of their hatred against the President.

Big thank you to the Arise TV team led by Duke. Thanks Mr Segun Adeniyi for the bravery you displayed during the interview. We need to start asking our governors to be accountable and stop short changing local government chairmen, Minister Malami also complained about this issue recently. Contrary to people’s opinion, the president is still in charge. President Mohammadu Buhari's problems are nepotism, ethnicity and religious bigotry that have resulted in lopsidedness in appointments made by his administration since he came to power in 2015. The President also failed to answer most of the questions correctly. It is better to put our so-called unity into test by conducting a referendum. This would solve many of the problems we are facing as a nation today. Let the past governments come out and defend themselves about billions of dollars wasted during the oil boom from 1999-2014.

Admittedly some of his answers weren't as sharp and concise but he did somehow make his point. However if you didnt get anything from the interview at least you can all ask yourself what you fixation is with the government at Federal level when your State Governors and LG chairman are doing absolutely nothing. Every sane person builds from ground up, both the brainwashed masses have been hypnotised to always look up at the FG instead of governments closest to them. Nigeria will change for good when we start taking our LG, State and National Assembly politicians to task.

All the question been asked him, he keep shifting blame and talking another thing. Now if it's not the responsibility of president to secure people that vote him in power then let him take to the national assemble and let them sit and make law and give power to all state governor to creat state police and security and armed them to secure their states. Yes if state governors are given that power to do that they will creat employment because they will recruit more youths in state police and other security outfit and arm them to secure their state and its boarders But your president don't want to do it because he know if he do that that his mechinaries foot soldiers with cow will never enter any Southern part of Nigeria in grazing they will remain in the north that has vast land and be grazing as they want them to be wandering in their bushes and farms.

You said Buhari allocate money to all governors, yes he did then ask yourself after the so called allocation and yet some governors recieve the money and yet don't pay workers and own them either salary for months or allowance for months and yet the Buhari who allocated the money never one day surmon the governor he allocate money to and asked him what happened to the money he allocate to him to pay workers and he didn't pay them. We now know mr president’s position on the issue of insecurity and why he gave most of his appointments to the north… I think we should not have issues with his appointment, we should face the appointees…are they performing? the answer is No…. Then, we are the problem and not the president…

Niger can develop its own infrastructure - they can take loans too to develop their business; there are projects in Nigeria crying for attention. He stated that there are Yorubas in Benin Republic - but he does not want Nigeria to do business with Benin?

Truth be told, a "one Nigeria" that is run properly is a good idea. But when different regions are completely neglected as though they do not exist...how do you want them to say "unity". Mr. President you seem like a jolly fellow but the people you govern are suffering big time. You are not showing us the unity a father brings to the table. In God's name please we need more from you. Everybody wants to break up because they are not included! President please do more.
