I am biased towards Auli'i (I live in Hawai'i), but Arielle did great! Auli'i has an innocence about her that fits the Moana character for sure...

@@imuawarriors i'd prefer Auli'i Cravalho. Arielle's great, but i'd rather have the Islands represented (and that's coming from a Pilipino).

Arielle Jacobs is literally perfect! She was amazing as Jasmine in Australia! She would be the perfect Moana, Eliza Hamilton, or Pocahontas! I would pay so much money to see her as Eliza!

Her diction is beyond perfect! You can understand every word she is singing! Some singers don't have that...like Ariana Grande. You can never make out the lyrics when Ariana is singing. Great job Arielle!

I mean, she is a Broadway singer, and they generally have excellent diction. Look up show tunes, it's amazing just how clear almost all the words are.

You are speaking to someone who is highly into Broadway musicals, and a local theatre performer also classically trained singer,, so I know. Just saying Ariana was in Broadway musicals, and she has horrible diction.

icomeandgobybubble87 in her pop music she puts forth no effort diction wise, but if you listen to some of the Broadway stuff she's done like the showcase spot she did last year. There she has crystal clear diction but she loses some of her crazy riffing abilities , it's not a matter of ability rather it's a matter of the placement of effort.

a few things came through to me in the movie: that unknown yearning (to explore), the chafing of a young mind and heart from restrictions (well-founded though they were), the need to do something, and the belief that that "something" (to change what is, change past wrongs, and to take responsibility as befitting a leader-to-be) needs to be done. it was no "kid's movie," i can tell you that right now.

That's a pretty spot on Moana.

That vibrato though! Absolutely lovely! :)

I actually noticed that too. I was watching this video and then I looked at a picture of Auli'i Cravalho and I thought 'Arielle and Auli'i look so similar, it's a little scary, but at the same time, it's so cool'.
