Chris Weidman cheated for the entire fight with his fingers outstretched like pitch forks in Silva's face..If you watch the fight back, Silva got eye poked on 6 different occasions and took 3 punches to the back of the head..That was no win, no matter what anyone says..Every time Silva stepped in to throw a punch, he had to dodge Weidman's finger to the eye defense..It's cheating for the entire fight..Chris was winning, but that doesn't take account of the damage done by the eye pokes, or the never ending out stretched finger defense..Jon Jones used to use that defense, which is where the rule came from, take points immediately, eye pokes will disappear forever..

Problem with the "he was winning the 1st two rounds" argument is that he eye poked TWICE in the same way during them. Should have been a pt deduction for the 2nd one, which greatly changes the dynamics of the 3rd round.

It doesn’t matter if weidman intentionally eye poked Silva or not. He was warned in the locker room before the fight, he was warned again during the fight multiple times, and then it was identified via video replay that he clearly did it again, not only with one hand, but two hands before Silva dropped to the floor. I love weidman and I am certain that he didn’t intentionally eye poke him again, but he also never did anything to stop putting his hand out in a position that he was told several times not to do…and that’s just careless on his part. And it’s not all weidmans fault, it’s also the referee’s fault for not taking a point and addressing weidman’s inability to fight responsibly. If someone knees a grounded opponent 3 times, or eye pokes 3 times, or grabs the fence 3 times, etc. etc, it doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not, points need to be deducted. You should never be considered a winner after fighting in such an irresponsible manner, and much less take credit for winning. Weidman is (was) a great fighter, but he is losing fans by taking credit and celebrating that win, especially after watching the replay. Fans would respect him more if he showed a little more class than that. I still love Weidman for all he did in MMA, but not a classy way to go out if this is going to be his last fight. Love your show Ariel 🙌🏼

It is the most INTENTIONAL eye pokes ive seen in 5 years of watching every fight that happens

So any fighter who's winning on the score cards can break the rules i.e kick a downed opponent or eye poke or take a nut shot just to end the match and win by points. Basically Usman should have eye poked Leon in their second fight so that he can win.

Weidman should have been DQ'd no questions asked, and If I'm not mistaken, Chris was finished by Moose, Romero, and Jacare in the third round in fights he was winning.

Referees discretion for eye pokes are very inconsistent. Some refs will take point(s) off after 2 eye pokes.... Weidman poked Silva four times prior to the TKO eyepokes.... no points taken out. I've seen Herb take points off after two eyepokes.

If Weidman would have lost after being eyepoked 4 times, I wonder how u guys would have felt about the result. Would it have been fair game then?......

The fact the referee took a point earlier in the night for 2 groin shots, but then didn't take a point off Weidman for 4 eye pokes, made the favouritism too obvious.

Ariel you have clear personal interests that keep you from having true journalistic integrity. As a former ammy fighter and longtime MMA fan, I’ve always felt this way.

Winning the first 2 rounds dose not mean you can't get finished in the 3rd or be on the bad end of a 10-8, the fight was ended by blatant illegal actions. I'm not arguing there was intent there, but that fight should 100% be a NC and they should rematch.

He poked Bruno multiple times before the finish and was given multiple warnings in between and never got a point taken which was absurd. Luke rockhold capitalized on that moment and finished him with brutal ground and pound. Definitely a career changing defeat. Weidman was losing anyway but started to pick up steam until he threw the kick. If he never threw the kick he could have won.

Warnings are stupid. Rules will remain undefined and nothing will ever change if "the warning" stays in the rule book. In tennis there is a "fault" and you only get a certain amount when you break SPECIFIC rules. You can get a warning for talking in MMA. How many warnings before you get a point deducted for dancing? How can you not blame chris? Every fighter has the same gloves and most fighters don't eyepoke their opponent once let alone 4 times in one fight and DOUBLE eyepoke them in one combination. The gloves do curve a little so he's actually not even telling the truth. Look up that video of gilbert burns trying the new ufc 30 gloves (which have been and gone now so they're probably still using the same tech).
