Europe's Ariane 5 launch vehicle lifted off from the ELA-3 launch site at the Guiana Space Center at 22:20 UTC on January 25, 2018. Mission VA241 carried the SES 14 and Al Yah 3 satellites and targeted a Supersynchronous Orbit. Contact with the launch vehicle was lost nine minutes and 26 seconds after launch, shortly after the second stage started operating. Contact was never regained with the launch vehicle, but the satellites were later found in a stable, but off-nominal orbit and are expected to the fully recovered.
