I think Ariana Grande is just eccentric. Mariah Carey used to make different voices. And Britney Spears. Even John Lennon would do this. In his case, I think it was partly to entertain himself and others. And ultimately, I find it entertaining and endearing that Ariana does this. It doesn't bother me.

Yes, completely agree with you. Instead of calling her out for a voice change, they need to be more blunt and confront specifically the appropriation.

In my opinion I get it, because hay have a phone call voice, a Friends and family voice… I even have different dialects depending on the people I’m surrounded, but I’m Dominican no one’s understand us, because our Spanish it’s very broken

Two words: Austin Butler. Dude got hounded for keeping his "Elvis" voice after the fact lol Lennox Lewis (from Canada) put on a British accent. The LSU football coach during his first speech to the Tiger faithful (the Massachusetts man from Indiana stretched the word "family" into a three syllable word lol). Men get it too Ari lol

Ariana seems to "code-switch" quite a lot (i.e. change her speaking style to appeal to certain audiences) which suggests she might lack a core and stable sense of personal identity. That said, she's also an actress AND has jokingly suggested she might be a sociopath (seriously), so she might also be deploying the different voices as a manipulation tactic as well.

I hate her baby voice, she's a full grown woman with a deep voice but tries to convince she's this sweet and cute persona which I don't buy, all of her homewrecking allegations and being naughty around married men is truly concerning.

Ariana is soo persistent, hardworking, talented. But she is kind of a copycat. She was overly inspired by Mariah riding her coattails. I feel like she has an identity crisis because her voice changes to suit who she is obsessed with at the moment. Yeah I'm sure talking in a higher pitch does help ease whatever stress, but none of the legendary singers ever did that because it is crazy and not natural. It is schizo to entirely change your voice because voice is how people identify and recognize people. When I was young in elementary school, my friend had the most crazy unique laugh ever. I loved it and when we hung out, I started laughing like that subconsciously but that was just something fun. When we broke off our friendship I went back to my old laugh. Whatever comes naturally is what you are. I have learned that and these days just try to be me. Example, think Elizabeth Holmes. EVERYBODY admits she is psychotic to talk in a weird masculine deep voice. case closed.

Talking in different dialects and accents can be an early sign of mental illness.
