really don’t see ariana overpowering abel in any of their performances together ever, she simply brings contrast to his smooth vocals, it’s all about balance. abel gets in his mid belts harmonizing with ari’s higher ones and sounds gorgeous. but it’s wonderful to see how most of the time he’ll just stop and stare at her and hype her up. feels like he has genuine appreciation for her talent and almost lets her take over whether it’s on this song or save your tears and i love that!

it's because he lets her take over that she does overpower him. it's not a bad thing, ariana is a powerhouse vocalist, and he isn't. so of course she's going to outsing him. and she has, here and on save your tears live. you really cant deny that.

I think The Weeknd is not going to his full potential in vocals when it comes to songs with ariana bc you can see his concerts or live performances that he can go so much more higher then he does when he sings with Ariana I think he’s just trying to give all the spotlight to ariana since it is her song but they’re both so good

I get what he's saying, but she has a point. The thing is, I don't think anyone has tried to say Abel is a better singer than Ariana. She's a powerhouse vocalist, he's never been that kind of singer. I'm sure Abel would agree that he has nothing on her when it comes to vocal ability, but he's still an amazing singer that has a very unique style and voice

What I noticed is that everytime The Weeknd sings with Ariana Grande he just holds back. I think it's because she has a strong and very loud voice. I think it wouldn't sound good if both would sing too loud and high. He sings way higher in his own live performances.

Don't think it'd be fair to compare those two I mean there's obviously some considerable difference between their vocal capabilities like Abel for a guy can go really really high and ofcourse its nowhere near Ariana's highest high because naturally she's meant to go higher than any other guy literally lol Both are equally great so no she didn't kill Abel on this one 😇🤭

You know what I find interesting!! Ari kinda comes off shy when she’s singing with the weekend!! Idk like she doesn’t look him in the eyes!! You can tell majority of her career has been her singing by herself and that she really doesn’t want to cause any headlines and just wants to sing with her friend, but it’s so interesting to see

okay but can we talk about how in this performance, she kinda took some of his lines?? he had to stop himself a few times and i’m sure this was rehearsed but i did take notice, she covered more of the background vocals than her main parts. i don’t know if this was intentional (and in the comment above mine you can see it is because he is saving his voice for tour) because it sounds amazing either way but don’t put the two against each other yo. especially in comparison to male vocal range vs female.
