I study singing and what these people say is true. Ariana is a talented singer, but a mediocre vocalist. There is really a lot of straining going on and yes - she really doesn’t resonate. People are crazy about high notes. They don’t care about how well you hit them - if you reach them, they will always call you a good singer. She ruins her voice with that stuff, over the long run. You don’t need to lick people’s asses, only because they are famous and rich. Her music is pretty dope, I like it. But the critique is well-deserved. I also don’t understand the whole “you guys can’t sing, otherwise you would be popular” - there are so many singers with barely any singing talented (Selena Gomez is a great example). The background is important, the looks, your personality, the sound of your music - your vocals are probably the least important part. A basic singing talent is enough if you look cute.
