I think it would be way more powerful of kratos killed ares out of protecting Greece besides revenge. Revenge goes against kratos’ character development. After people see that kratos is now a protector then everyone could begin to love him instead of fear him. Then the prophecy at the end of ragnarok would come true.

The only reason Kratos would go to kill ares is too protect greece since his brilliant character arc gave him more of a heart. But that would only work if atreus is with kratos since that's the whole reason the last game happened. And since its similar circumstances (fight bad God even tho bad god not hurt us) Kratos himself wouldnt be willing without the wishes of atreus

He wont kill out of vengence. That doesn't mean he won't kill you if you try to fuck with his home and family. The wrathful, furious, and monstrous godkiller is still a part of him, just kept under a lot of restraint and temperament.

Kratos destroyed Olympus and killed Zeus, which was what Ares wanted. But he did not anticipate that he would die before seeing his plan come to fruition. He only wanted Kratos to be a tool to overthrow Zeus. But as every carnation of Ares has a habit of crossing certain lines.

I would love to see that.

Give kratos a 30 min fight where he temporarily gains his youth back and his old voice comes back for just 1 boss fight would be awesome

There was a time historically where the Roman Empire was on the rise as Greece was on the decline, which caused to pseudo adaptation of the greek gods into their Roman counterparts. Like Helios being Apollo, Ares being Mars, Zeus as Jupiter etc. So there could be the potential bleed over/resurrection of the gods with the new roman persona's.

As long as Atreus is safe and Ares doesn't do anything to innocent people while Kratos is nearby, Kratos would just ignore Ares. This is literally his whole arc, abandoning vengeance and instead fighting for the benefit of mortals and he finally achieved this in the middle of Ragnarök.

Uh, NO. Kratos might not have any care for senseless carnage anymore, but he won't hesitate to let that out if he's pushed past a certain point, it's a necessity, or both. Baldur and Heimdall learned that the hard way.

This would definitely be a "Justice, not vengeance" type of situation. Kratos would need to calm down and try to keep in mind that: Yes, he should go hunt for Ares and kill him once again, but he shouldn't do it for revenge. He should do it to make sure he won't bring misery to anyone else.

Idk about that last bit, Kratos has gone through so much character growth in the past few games evolving out of that vengeful mindset. Feel like it’d be a 180 just because Ares was back. No doubt he’d get back to Ares at some point but not for revenge, probably more so for the good of the Greek world.
