Ghostina1 Agreed 100% I “have” a Yt 2019 Capra cf pro race and after only two weeks of owning it the clearcoat started to develop some problems, at first it started bubbling and 2 weeks later the whole clear coat started peeling off! I immediately emailed them and after 10 days of waiting I received a reply that said that I needed to provide more photos and videos. I did that and it got approved for warranty. I was told the new frame would come in in 2-3 weeks because they were having issues with the manufacturer in China that needed to be worked out. After a month I received no news so I emailed them AGAIN asking for progress. I was told I would be informed when a new frame would become available. I understood, a month isn’t so bad if you think about it... February goes by, March goes by, April goes by and I start to worry, WHERE IS MY FRAME? The customer care told me not to worry since my issue is ONLY esthetic and does not influence the riding experience. I one again understood and agreed, there are worse problems than a peeling clear coat but still, I paid for that clear coat. A few more months go by and in the end of August( 7 months after my initial email) I was told a new frame was available and that I could ship in my disassembled frame for them to swap out for a new one. The day I receive the email I go to my local Dhl office and with the provided shipping label I ship off my frame. 2 weeks go by and the tracking shows nothing! My frame was apparently lost while shipping and currently I AM STILL WAITING for DHL to find the frame or claim it’s loss( a process which was suppose to take 3-4 weeks according to Yt).It is now October the 21st and I still have no frame. Dear Yt I definitely won’t be spending my money with you in the future! Thank god I disassembled the frame fully and still have the components which will soon be transferred to a worthy frame NOT from Yt, they ain’t screwing me again!! Take this with a pinch of salt, I’m not saying this will happen if you buy a YT but be warned that it might happen!

2016 Jeffsy owner here. Frame bearings are amazing, they still last and here in nordic region it rains all the time... BB was crap, replaced as soon as it needed service. Pike got replaced under warranty in 2018 so did the Reverb, no complaints towards YT, they did not make them. Rear shock was a pain and stuck all the time, at some point I learned how to service it myself and got a ton of spare overhaul kits, but eventually just changed the shock and it has been great. Sram guide RSC-s died before the first set of pads could wear out, was very disappointed and angry, replaced them with 4-piston XT 2019, never felt better, will avoid Guides in the future. Sram GX drivetrain is bulletproof and still running, just adore it. DT Swiss wheels are just THE WHEELS to go. Dirt all the time, absolutely zero problems, minimum maintenance, never needed truing. Ibex Onza tyres are great. Can definetely recommend the YT. Warranty haggling sucks but You sort of expect it, after all You save a lot compared to bikes LBS is selling, especially here. Similarly specced Scott would have cost me nearly three times more.

I've been pounding on a 170mm Lyrik for two seasons. I'm sure I'm well past the service interval and the fork is working fine. I have no complaints with it. The thing seems to be bullet proof. I do intend to service it this winter. My opinion is that any established bike or component manufacturer knows what they are doing by now. I think selection comes down to personal preference in most cases. I'm partial to mid and long travel bikes but I'm not brand loyal. I think they're all pretty good.

I got the CF PRO Race 29 Capra in August and so far have had zero complaints mechanically, but I do have a positive story about my customer service experience. I (completely my own fault) purchased the 27 and did not realize I had until I got the confirmation email from YT about the bike shipping. Chock it up to excitement... or just me being dumb lol. So I reached out via email and within about an hour had a response back. Worked with a Jordan on my mistake and they got me completely squared away AND managed to get me a discounted rush delivery so I would still get my bike in time for a trip to Snowshoe (again on something that was COMPLETELY my own fault). Loving the bike, and glad to see someone that has had one a year and rides WAYYY more/harder than I do give it a good review!! Thanks for the video!

I’ve owned the 2019 YT Jeffsy CF Comp for a little over a month and ~120 miles on the bike. I love the value of the bike. It’s nearly impossible to find a bike for 3k (got it on a sale) with the spec that this bike has. It’s been a riot to ride. I do think I’ll miss not having a LBS to service the bike and talk to in person. With that said - I would definitely still recommend YT. I’ve emailed them 5-6 times with random questions and they have replied within 24 hours which was a huge worry of mine. The bike and company are fantastic in my opinion and the bike absolutely rips!

Sweet Vids! This bike has made me a more confident rider and fits me so much better than my previous bikes (2015 Nomad, 2014 V10, 2007 VPfree, 2001 Bullet) YT service & communication has been pretty good. I’ve had no issues with the frame, just components they selected Here are the fixes and changes I’ve done on 2019 Capra PR after six months - (6’3” 225lbs shore rider) • Replaced the tires in the first month as I was not confidant on the e*13 • Changed the grips to Squarewave XL for my big mitts • Fox 150mm dropper to a One-up 210mm • Trailmaster DT swap on the saddle as it’s a bit comfier • 32t to a 28t in the front and 10-50 on the rear… now she climbs! • The Adaptive Preload Adjuster thing on the e*thirteen cranks lasted a few weeks so I shimmed it • The Raceface pedals were a deal but the right one flew off the spindle a few times till I used lock tight, then the bearings went, and I warrantied them • The headset bearing went - YT sent a new one • The BB is gone but I haven’t changed it yet • The e*13 chain guide is weak and I glued it together - but its not great • I’ve popped 4 rear spokes and then rebuilt it with all straight gauge spokes now • The rear hub has come loose twice - and it too loud (I added grease, way quieter) • The bond from stanchion to crown failed - replaced under warranty and got to cut my own steer tube height

I have a 2016 Al comp Capra which I bought brand new direct from YT. Still riding it regularly 2-3 times a week all year. Bike is bulletproof. Ridden plenty of enduros and DH tracks. Only issue I have ever had was the reverb dropper which got sorted within a week under warranty. That was 2.5 years ago. No problems since. Love it and when I eventually get rid I will get another. 👍🏼

This is actually so helpful, I have a 2019 YT Capra AL COMP, and am suspicious of the bottom bracket. (Granted, I have destroyed a left crank on every single bike I've ever owned, so it could be me). Good to know that the headset is something to look out for in the future. My Capra has the Fox 36 Performance Elite fork and Fox Float X2 (not factory) rear shock, so I'm interested to see how long they last in comparison. My frame is also Aluminum, but I almost prefer it because I don't have to worry about cracking or chipping it, just dents and bends. My Capra was sent to me with a very bent front brake rotor, which was clearly damaged in shipping when looking at the box. However, I sent an email to YT, sent some pictures, and 5 days later had a new rotor (It would have been quicker if they hadn't just ran out of stock). Granted I live in NorCal, just 7 hours from their San Clemente HQ. So far, I love my Capra! (PS. I talked to Austin from the San Clemente HQ about the brake rotor, he was super nice and very helpful!)

I did have skipping on my cassette but realized it was user error from a crash that loosened my rear axle. I've been pretty rough on my YT and I plan on sticking with them in the future too. Hi geezer, I bought a 2019 YT CAPRA got it delivered in July, the whole building experience I loved as I was waiting months for delivery, the whole bike as a package was fantastic value for money and all components were and are still great only a few niggles but for the price no problem. The bike will go absolutely anywhere- I mean anywhere! Shred big downhills and still climb anything, fox 36 and fox rear fantastic, guide rs brakes again perfect, e'thirteen tyres great, loads of grip and no punctures ( not converted to tubeless yet) 10 month on and I ride every week- in fact after my next 13- 15 mile ride tomorrow I will have covered 200+ miles during lockdown. Wheels are strong and take some punishment (still true!) Only gripe are a creaking bar and dropper takes some getting used to ( not as good as my reverb) on my specialised, but YT said I could return if I wanted but to be honest I couldn't be arsed with the hassle and I suppose that's the price you pay not being your local shop, but getting a top bike for £2700 ticks all the boxes I love it, still on the same pads but will be replacing my front soon and rear tyre. Good vid by the way.

I have a 2016 capra CF pro race and have had no issues except the rims. The dt swiss 1200 are very light but I cracked them three times. DT had great customer service and repaired them for free (I payed shipping). However, I wish the bike were spec'd with a more gravity focused rim from the box. I now have a set of grade 300 rims that have help up to similar abuse, if not more. The YT spec for dollar is really where the bike shines. I can easily recommend YT bikes as long as you are comfortable doing your own service or have a LBS who will be happy working on the YT. *disclosure: the DT rims are great for trail/xc or a rider who makes few mistakes. But I ride "freeride stuff" and both the first two cracks were my fault for casing. The third was from a square edge hit in a rock garden but the rim was already weakened from previous cracks.

Same here, at first. (PNW Loam dropper & lever). Fixed seat clamp torque but noticed the incremental height adjustment ring can also get too tight if you ham fist it. Easy adjustment. The big one with them is that with any moisture and lots of usage the seal does its job almost too well wiping the post clean of any lubrication. I clean it regularly and wipe it down with light machine oil (wipe on/wipe off) and even with lower PSI it will come up and scramble your eggs. I really think the biggest thing is keeping the post clean and lubricated.

On a very similar 2018 Jeffsy (almost same components except rear shock), problems I had were with the dropper post (did not get up totally even after a full service rebuild and greasing), and the TRS cassette which was crap: generation 1 were cranky, generation 2 were "sliding" off the hub (sad when you are 30km away from home, and have no chain whip in your toolkit, but who have one!), so I changed it with an eagle GX, no problem anymore! And the TRS tires were kind of "grip grip grip whoooshhhh", replaced them relatively fast. Changed BB bearing and headset bottom bearing with better ones after 6 month. Rest of the stuff is bulletproof on this bike!

I clean it regularly and wipe it down with light machine oil (wipe on/wipe off) and even with lower PSI it will come up and scramble your eggs. I really think the biggest thing is keeping the post clean and lubricated.

I had some simular findings with my YT Jeffsy... Had to replace the headset and BB after a year. Also didn’t like the short steerer tube. The only problem you didn’t mention which I experienced was the E13 TRS tires are not for everyone so I replaced those. I also switched to the XT 11-46 cassette because it works better than the TRS+ cassette. Overall: Great bike! Great price! If you’re a home mechanic, why wouldn’t you buy direct to consumer? You’re inevitably going to tinker with your bike anyway #WinWin

I own a YT Jeffsy 29 CF PRO for over a year now. - The RaceFace bottom bracket was rattling after 4 month. Early wearout of ball bearings. - bad true running of new ethirteen wheels. After reworking them now they are stable. - short cutted fork head tube. The bike front is too low fow me. I have to ride higher pressure in fork than i like. - high damping sticky tires. Good for grip, but high rolling resistance. - flaked off lacquer on rear stay near tire. - Fox 34 fork was almost dry inside, bad responding behavior. After filling in lubrication oil now it is working well. That was very unusual for a Fox product. I think the YT Jeffy ist a good product and overall I'm happy with it. An improvement is still possible.

I had a YT Tues AL, which I sold to get myself an enduro bike. That Tues' frame bearings wore out super fast, and the rockshox boxxer needed service more than I'd like. I found the paint rubbed off really easily, and the whole bike generally had this feel of bombproof but fast wearing. Hard to describe but sortof like an old truck: you feel like it will outlive you, but the parts on it can fall apart if you look at them the wrong way.

The E13 cassette wore out in a year, made my chain skip and has been replaced with a heavier but half the price Shimano cassette. I can't say their customer service is bad, they've been very helpful with me. Mostly they'd refer me to E13, who have good service too. E13 wheels I have to agree, they're pretty darn amazing. I have 2 YTs. Had to replace the headset bearings and BB on my 2017 jeffsy A1. Not a complaint, it was used heavily. On my 2019 capra CF Pro my BB wore out quickly and was replaced. I have had a heck of a time with creaking from the ethriteen split cassette. I'm going to have to say it's my biggest complaint. They put to different metal pieces together. One part is steel and the other is aluminum. The steel part of the cassette wore out the aluminum in a fewmonths. This created too much tolerance between the interfacing metals surfaces. I have to do my own "hack" to deal with it for now involving some liquid tape. (actually seems to work great). I thinking of replacing the drive train for and eagle.

Bars can make a difference to the ride comfort and I'm quite picky personally. I've got a pair of One up pedals and I've serviced them 2-3 times in 2 years and they are still fine and still on original bearings (I think).. so it's you. Personally I prefer XT over SLX the shifter is better and it's not that much more expensive but the latter gets the job done good enough. For me and brakes its how good the modulation is and most popular modern brakes are good enough IMO. Poor performance from the Dropper post though, I've had and got a few different ones with my favourite being the Fox Transfer but I've also got a BrandX that gets the job done at a fraction of the cost.. I'm not keen on the speed of it but it works well otherwise though I always replace the lever for a Wolftooth. I got my first bike after 20 years fox exclusive with Rockshox on last year and agree I was massively impressed with the Lyric and SD Shock... I'm a convert. I find my Fox shocks a tiny bit easier to service personally.. but that's due to the many years servicing them however I found the SD RC3 Shock easier to dial in than say a Fox DPX2.

Derailleurs are the first thing I’m liable to tear off. I’ve had the SLX m7000 for a year, and aside from needing some loctite on the clutch adjustment bolt, it’s been flawless. I’d rather put the extra money in something like a shifter or brakes.

The reason they cut the head tube down is because of the warranty and their insurance. If you alter anything on the bike your yt warranty is void and for their liability insurance they sell the bikes in these particular specs. I asked them about changing the stem for a shorter one from factory but they won't do it for insurance reasons and they warned me that changing it myself will definitely void the warranty. Be warned. Realistically something like that would be difficult to prove but good to be aware of if you return the bike to them!

From what I understand, the long-distance customer service just isn't worth the pain when things go wrong. When I buy a bike from my local shop there's a year's worth of service included. Any part failure and it's replaced or fixed by the next day. A major failure like a frame and they'd probably have a spare one for me to ride, and all the labour of shipping it off is on them. From the comments on here and the video it seems pretty reasonable to expect something to fail within that first year. The YT bike might be a bit cheaper up front, but riding time is crucial to me. I work full-time at a good paying job, I'll pay a little extra so I won't miss a month or more of riding, or the hassle. MTB for me is to relax and unwind, not something that stresses me out.

When talking about suspension you mentioned comments from haters (which at this point there isn’t any). Whether it’s suspension or any other components it comes down to the best are the ones that work for you. There are a lot of good components these days from a lot of companies. Suspension wise I have fox on my enduro bike and rockshox on my trail bike and love them both for their different applications. I have shimano brakes on one of them and sram brakes on the other, again love them both for their different intended uses. If riders are true riders they understand that the absolute best parts are the parts that work for them.

I bought a 2019 YT Capra Al Comp 29er a little over 2 months ago and i love the bike but ever since i got it came with slight details like a visible scratch in the front of the handlebar right out of the box (which i ended up covering with a perm. marker...) and it wasn't just like the plug and play experience they say it is after you adjust your suspension, cockpit and put on the wheels. I had to take it to the local shop to get the derailleur adjusted and even still the cassette seems to be giving me issues with shifting on the last 2 gears b/c we tried a shimano cassette and no problems with shifting... I was going to call E13 for the warranty and stuff like that but i just wanted to ride and, it didn't come tubeless ready... On the first couple rides i started noticing the creaks which are annoying AF and i don't think you should be dealing with all this Sh&% when you paid for a new bike and like i said i love the bike even after all this BS and i'm just going to keep on riding it because i know even if it didn't come with problems like this the bike is going to end up getting new components and needs maintenance.

I have two 2019 YT bikes and my girlfriend also one. The bikes are awesome and ride super well. No complaints here. I did crack my chain stay on the Capra AL in a crash and although I was expecting to pay for the part they did swap it under warranty for me though. So all good there. It did however take longer than I would have liked and they barely communicate. No status updates, no notification about shipping....and this is in Germany. I do think that they are still a pretty small company and their CS seems understaffed to me. I do believe that they are aware of these problems. In their defense I also have to say that in that crash I also cracked my ethirteen rim and they took almost as long to get me a replacement rim. Is this maybe a bike industry thing? I have experienced longer waiting times with shops ordering replacement parts for non direct to consumer brands as well so I doubt that I would have been dealt with much quicker with any other bike. So would I buy a YT again? Hell yeah! Awesome bikes! Awesome components, reasonable price. In the end no matter what you buy (bikes, headphones, computers, audio gear, whatever) if you really want zero down time your only option is to have a spare for everything so that if something brakes you can rely on that while your main piece of equipment is out for repair or being replaced.

What isnt ok is that after two months i still have zero idea when the part will arrive. i contact YT weekly at this stage. Not once throughout this process have they initiated contact in regards to an update on my replacement part. If its going to be three months just bloody tell me and at least i'm not let down every week by knowing nothing. Seriously contemplating selling my bike as soon as it is finally repaired just so i dont have to deal with it ever again. I'm happy that they decided to change it for free but they definitely have to work on their service time... The service guys on the phone were very nice and friendly and when i asked them some weeks later how long it will to get that new chain stay they responded very quick. I think that chain stay is supposed to break/crack because i've heard that this happens to a lot of the Capra AL versions... I dont regret buying this bike cause it feels so awesome to ride and it's definitely worth the price. Of course the service could be better but I'm sure they'll work on that.
