Weight of the car and weight balance definitely affects this. GT cars tend to run 27-29. But really light cars, 21-23 can be good. I think the Prototypes you will generally want to run around 21-22. An old muscle car might go as low as 3-4 psi lower in the back if it's extremely front heavy. I'll try to find the right balance for the car, and then start dropping PSI until I start losing lap time. You can tell because the grip starts giving away under load (real easy to feel on a wheel) when they go to low.

Very good comparison. I also tried this after watching and it's crazy how just tyres alone make a significant difference. Can wait for the next one as I always struggle with what camber and toe settings to run, can we get a tutorial on this too?

Looking at your tire temps through a run will help tell you where your tire pressure needs to be. Inner/outter temps hot? Needs more tire pressure Middle temps hot? Needs less pressure Beyond that; the lower the tire pressure, the more thrust-grip IE-acceleration and braking The more “perfect” the tire pressure, (meaning even tire temperature around your desired corner) the more corner grip. If you’re working in a spec series and you have a car that just won’t hook up and get the power down, dropping the tire pressure below “perfect” will allow more grip under acceleration with some sacrifice in corner grip. However, the drivability will often greatly improve consistency and average laptimes. This completely skips over suspension tuning, but tires is a fundamental that you absolutely have to get through to be able to do the rest.

From FM2 till now the standard tune on cars have: (S class and higher and/or with race parts) Tire pressures to high Gearbox to short in the first 3 or 4 and to long from mid to the end 4/5/6 (7) Suspension usually to soft (Because of high tire pressures maybe?) Damping to high, rebound to low. Adjusting above depending on car and class will lead in to 1-3 seconds gain quick and easy. Besides laptime, it makes the car more stable and consistent making it a better car to race. Leaderboard tunes are often sharp and snappy while most drivers 99% will not be consistent with them. They are good for qualifying but hard to race. Adjusting ARB (Anti Roll Bars) to more stiffer/stable combined with above can result in a consistent car. Maybe this is something your viewers would be interested in to learn how to do. It is tricky because it is also a matter of skill level and driving style, but it can make a lot of difference. Peace

@@Inside-wheel It sure is not easy and not for all. Hence i always say: "Do not pick the fastest car/tune per se, But pick the car/tune you are fastest with, consistently." Because that will be the best car/tune to race with and matches the skill level and driving style. In multiplayer this is highly underestimated. Peace

That car weighs nothing thats why it works. 22psi wont help if your in a 2000lbs RS6. You just have to take in the weight of the car when choosing your pressures.

Low pressure gives more grip, harder tyres give more speed, Stiffer springs needs firmer tyre pressure. Wet weather needs softer tyre pressure and softer suspension. Using these basics, will put you in the ballpark of any set up

just tested this and zero difference at all. i can get top 1% on any rivals leaderboard so not driver error. tried this on my 2000 silvia spec r at 2200lbs with race tires on mediums. and did 22 psi and 32 psi and the difference was only the way the car felt. lap times were the same. i tested on mugello full circuit.
