For many types of creativity, PVA glue is useful. The result of all work often depends on its quality. Carpentry or furniture is a separate category, low-quality products simply do not fall into it. But if "Universal" is written on a jar or bottle, then the variation in quality is simply huge: from "a little worse than furniture" to "you can't even stick a newspaper."
How to understand what kind of product you bought? After all, almost no one writes on the packaging of the exact composition. The first thing you need to pay attention to in the store is the price. The cheapest glue in the hardware store is most likely not very good. If it is written on the packaging that the main application is the plasticization of mortars, this is the lowest quality. Most likely, there is no plasticizer in the composition at all, the percentage of the content of the most important substance - polyvinyl acetate - is quite low. A thick consistency can be achieved, for example, CMC (carboxymethylcellulose). This piece is used for the production of other types of glue and in the food industry (as a thickener and stabilizer).
Cheap grades of PVA are good, for example, for creating a cotton toy. Such glue is not very sticky (cotton wool will not stick to fingers and brush) and slippery (it will be more convenient to smooth the material. In addition, it does not create a noticeable film on the surface and the toy will dry much more evenly and faster.
