same got most of them, even staring at them so long I only got them because I paused for so long and thought about the actual facts of what I know about expressions like the lines under your eyes with a genuine smile and the shapes of the eyebrows. So it was a very analytical way I had to do it and it was still very confusing. Especially with some of them. Like half of them just look like a normal eyes and eyebrows and I don’t know what it is and it’s just my best guess since it’s like literally just blank to me.

It's very possible that you are not looking at people when you're speaking. This has a dramatic affect on your social skills as you're not getting feedback that you would be if you look at their face. I actually noticed a dramatic improvement in my social skills when I started wearing contacts. Think about it this way - most animals don't speak and rely solely on social cues. I have autism and I did pretty well with this. All autistic people tend to have different strengths and weaknesses, I’ve always studied peoples’ expressions a lot

@@quit3118 I just got diagnosed a month ago but knew for a long time. I would do some research to look farther into it. While dealing with a possible diagnosis can be scary, it can also be freeing and comforting to have an explanation of how your mind might function differently than others.

I got 5 right I was so shocked bc I have like panic attacks when I have to go to social events

@@olivej445 The thing about this is that people with autism tend to struggle to understand or empathize with how people are feeling, so as we get older we start paying a lot of attention to things like facial expressions that can help us understand how people are feeling. I'm not saying it's the same for everyone, but for me my autism and struggles with socializing have made me hyper-aware of other people's feelings and I know a lot of others have the same experience. Which is why these tests are dumb lol

The only one i got wrong was flirtatious lol

Maybe you're neurotypical and that's why you understand social cues and all that. But for neurodivergent people it's VERY hard to understand them. More for some than for others. I'm autistic and I also have ADHD so this is very hard on me. Reading people's faces and know what they mean is not something my brain can do. So yes. It is very hard for some

Got them all but I am diagnosed with autism. People with ASD are on a very wide spectrum. It isn’t talked about enough, but one side of that spectrum are ppl who experience an extremely heightened form of emotional empathy. It’s really overwhelming to be overstimulated by not just lights or sounds in a crowd, but also being overly aware of what everyone else is feeling around you. The worst part is you’re not just aware of it; you become emotional bc you’re experiencing all of those emotions/feelings as you become aware of them.

@@prestowand not awkward at all! First, be honest and open about your experiences even if you feel crazy saying some things out loud, because that’ll really help with getting answers. Second, even tho 90% of self diagnosed ASD is accurate, don’t lead with “I think I have this..”. Explain the symptoms that are concerning you first, and then ask if your therapist can test for ASD. Note: autism, anxiety, ocd, paranoia, depression, etc are often related to each other. Ppl with ASD can experience symptoms of other mental ailments, but they can all exist without ASD as well. I hope this helps, and I am hopeful you’ll get the answers you need! ❤️

Paradoxically: one of the things that counted in favour of my autism diagnosis was my unusually precise awareness of facial expressions, emotional states and their signs and features. Apparently people recognise emotions using… I don’t know… instinct? Rather than an encyclopaedic analytical vortex of microexpressions. Spectrum, for sure.

I was boutta say the same thing. I have low level autism and this was easy. I’m a weird case thought cause most of the symptoms I used to experience don’t really exist anymore. A lot of the sensory stuff was caused by ADHD medication that I don’t take anymore, and my social issues have mostly disappeared with practice
