No, this is an inaccurate statement that's still being said after years of it being debunked. Isayama wasn't sure he wanted to kill her back then and his editor wasn't sure either, because they wondered if there was a more appropriate place in the story for her to die. Isayama changed the draft where Sasha died to one where she lived and the editor was impressed by the improvements to the point they JOKED about wanting to cry while reading it and said they'd secretly do so in the bathroom so Isayama wouldn't see.

Sasha’s death really symbolizes the change of tone in the series Sasha isn’t per say the “comic relief” but she was definitely one of, if not the most positive character in the show and kept things light when things got dark With her now gone, lighthearted moments are almost all gone from here on out

Zeke’s betrayal was foreshadowed a few times in this season. - His conversation with Colt in the second episode revealed that Zeke was keeping his royal lineage a secret from everyone around him. -Eren tossing a baseball in the air after telling Falco that he wanted to send a letter to his family. Zeke is Eren’s only surviving relative and he was using baseball pitching techniques during the battle of Shiganshina. -Zeke bluntly stating “Eren is not my enemy” to his fellow Marleyans, before quickly adding that his priority was taking down Levi. -Zeke mysteriously managing to miss all of his shots while throwing projectiles at the Scouts. -We see how Porco and Pieck managed to escape Yelena’s trap, but we aren’t shown how Zeke “escaped” his.

Zeke is not Eren's only surviving relative. But yes, his double-crossing was hinted even earlier when he first met Eren and told him "I will come back to rescue you".. Thinking back now, he has been boldly open about it lol

Eren and Reiner can never hate each other ever. They both understand each other's actions and all they are trying to do is survive.

From season 1, I always thought I had an idea of who my favorite character was. I do love all of them. But this season, this particular episode, definitely made Jean my favorite of them all with that single line : ‘if we toss kids out of an airship, will the killing ever end ?’ 💛 Looking back, his character growth is the best of the whole show in my opinion.

I think, no matter which side people take, everyone can respect him.

There's a not small group of people online who think this story promotes war and fascism, which has always informed me they've NEVER seen it, anyone who has seen this show has ever seemed to feel that same way. It's like people who think euphoria promotes drug use despite it being the most painful and real story about it I've ever seen, I'm always happy to see people get the right message out of everything, the Marley arc is where it becomes very obvious, but you gals have had it in your mind for a lot longer than that, props

The "bearded" soldier is Yelena, a new character in the season. Armin was out at sea in his little boat at the time. They have very similar haircuts and I confused them too.

Eren's way of coping with deep pain and despair is to laugh. He's shown this several times, most notably when Hannes died.

Watching this for the first time I just couldn't hate Gabi - all to the demise of my sister who hated her after this because Sasha was her favourite character. The brainwashing and young involvement in the War just to bring your family into a somewhat secure living position, I think if we didnt knew Sasha and learned about the guards instead we would've been rooting for Gabi instead. How Isayama shows us the pointless violence of War and that everyone is just human is truly brilliant. Also Gabi is a beast and I hope Haylo and Kiss learn to love her as much as I did

I hated her from the beginning, but liked her character growth and ended up not hating her in the end. She is purposefully a very hateable character, not just for killing Sasha, but just in general. But that's why her growth is so impactful.

@@Azetaris I partially agree, but reminder that: Eren, till his world crumbled, grew up in a loving family, with positive examples and allowed to follow his inclinations freely while also being shown what was right. He did question the world around him (contrary to Gabi, in this) but he also had, for example, a father that encouraged that kind of attitude. Gabi instead was subjected to brainwashing since the day she was born, she really hadn't had, at that point, a different example to weigth against what both government and her own family constantly enforced, so she lacked both the personal inclination and the external inducement to ever question the world around her (just like many kids, for example, don't question the religion their parents grow them into till later in their lives) So yes, Eren and Gabi are different. Yet they are also similar: fierce and inclined to rush into action, both witnesseed their whole world shatter in one singular unforeseen devastating event, and both (at one point) entirely consumed and blinded by rage and thirst for revenge...instead of being like an Armin or a Falco who, even experiencing similar events, stop and consider things more broadly and from different points of view. Armin lost his whole family too, he saw lots and lots of painful, gruesome deaths too, but the kind of unbreakable, raging(and at times blind) hatred that Eren repeatedly exhibited in past seasons were never *defining traits* of his personality, while, at this point of the story, they are Gabi's

"At this point, I can't exactly kill Reiner"...I just realized a new perspective for this.

It was this episode that made me finally get a full back tattoo of my fave character, Lobov

War is a violent cycle, attack, death, revenge, death, attack, death...and so on and so on. No one is on the wrong, and no one is in the right. It's just all violence and death regardless which perspective you currently occupy. If Isayama (author) started this story with Season 4 and on the Marley perspective, we would all believe the Paradis people are ruthless killers of the innocent, which Eren shamelessly demonstrated. But he began with the Paradis perspective, so here we are. Perspective is important. Death is the end result, except if you are the cameraman, you are freaking immortal!

I think you girl missed yhe point that the Eldian restorationist offset the status quo when Eren's dad succeeded in infiltrating Paradis and taking the founding titan. At that moment everything changed. The reason the Tybur family doesn't intevene is because they were order by the King not to do so. They are keeping the facade they were order to keep.

You guys are right. Sasha’s death seems so pointless and anticlimactic but that is the reality of war… I hope the next episodes provide solace. 😢

One of the things I don't like very much about this season is the way Yelena is introduced. Some people takes her for Armin, but basically she comes out of nowhere. There'll be plenty of explanations later, but still I think they could have plotted this differently. Or at least make her a redhead 😁

Yeah, since Eren knew the future, he could've opened up to Armin, persuaded Hizuru a bit more to help them stage a similar "Declaration of Peace" event at Hizuru before Willy could do his, reiterate that it's Marley using the titans for domination. It might not work, but Paradis never really tried to do much. They were at the starting line then Eren just javelin-threw all the chances away with this attack.

One big thing I want to point out is that sometimes the anime misses extremely subtle moments from the manga. When Levi told Eren he never thought he would see the dead inside look from Eren, Eren's eyes don’t stay dead. He actually looks surprised. Also no about Marley. They only wanted Paradis for Eren's titan to control the world themselves. They weaponized titans against the rest of the world already. If anyone isn't to blame on Marley, it would be the Eldians, excluding the Tyber family.

Kinda reminds me of the whole palestine vs israel conflict , Russia vs ukraine, Or most of the real iife wars anyway. both sides think they are right and both are getting hurt in the process, continueing the circle of hatred... to a point where generations and generations are being born inside it and knowing ONLY this, thus becoming hard or even impossible to stop the circle of hatred. Gabi is the same kid Eren was. To her, they are right and paradis are devils who threaten their existance. But to eren it's also the same thing....Eren was just a kid when the armored titan broke the wall and saw everything he loved getting destroyed and killed before his eyes. So who is right? Who is wrong? Paradis? Marley? Both? None? There is no real answer.... It's just a fucked up and innevitable situation that will just happen and it just sucks.. Just like real life conflicts.

Fact: Isayama had already decided to kill Sasha in the story long time ago. First time, he decided to kill her in S2 when she's saving the girl, he even finished the draft, when the editor asks him about this, he said "Based on my intuition as the author, I think is time to end her life here." but after his considering, he hesitated, so he changes the story and let her alive. Second time, he decided to kill her in S3 when she injured by the armor titan, but based on the same reason, he gave up again...

I kind of wish they explored Sasha a bit further than "haha she hungry" before killing her off, she had one episode where she was more than comic relief and that was it.

Hey! I dont know if anyone told you, and you havent looked through the episode list to save any chance of spoilers. The last two episodes are "specials", the first of the last being an hour and eleven minutes and the second being about and hour and a half. Just cause we are getting close and the end of the show is kinda long, have a great end to your week!

Okay, something you should know is that Marley was always going to invade Paradis. As mentioned earlier, the ware slowly losing their position as the most dominant nation. As technology advanced, more countries had built weapons to combat titans (the anit-titan artillery) making the use if titans obsolete. So keep Marley and their titans as the dominant force in the world they planned to go to Paradis and take the founding titian for themselves (there was also something about a natural resource that's in Paradis that they wanted too). That's the mission Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie, and Marcel were on. And since they failed and lost two titans, other nations saw that as an opportunity to attack (wait this gets explained next ep, aww well) But now that they know Eren has the founding titan, they decided to spin the narrative that now that he has the founding the island of Paradis posses a threat to the world (even though everyone already hated them to begin with). That's why Willy decided to reveal the truth about King Fritz to further antagonize Eren and get the support from the rest of the world So whether Eren had the founding titan of Frieda kept it, this invasion was still happening.

No . Gabi asked Falco if he had seen what he heard because Gabi literally witnessed the massacre , she witnessed her friends got trampled . So her words and emotions are heavier than the empathy falco has for the enemy just because he HEARD it .

@@Azetaris she was a trained soldier yes, but she was ALSO a kid. So, at my first watch I wasn't even considering such an option and was surprised to hear somebody suggesting to throw them out. Thus, I was also surprised that Kiss ACTUALLY SUGGESTED the same thing they suggested in anime. But I don't blame Kiss. Makes the situation more real. And I don't think it's disneyish to keep them alive. Of course, that there's so many kids - is by itself disneyish. But that's non-disneishly explained. Disney never explains why their characters are kids. They're just kids because their audience are kids. But in AOT you can clearly see why it's children: in Marley - because they're easier to manipulate. In Paradis, many of the military kids are basically orphans, and in absence of normal peaceful life it's no wonders they would choose military form, plus it's probably easier for young people to learn to use these 3D-rope-thingies, as you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Plus, it's social lift to having a better life for them and their families anyway - and they better start earlier for the best results (just like in any profession). Sum all things, it's understandable why kids. In real wars in the past, noticeably World War if I'm not mistaken, - I heard they used children to throw grenades at tanks etc. I might understand how in this situation people can kill kids. But when a kid already captured and now relatively safe for everyone else, it's not so much sense tossing them out. It's not her blame she's trained soldier. It's concentrated camp and Marley to blame. Don't get me wrong. I still hate Gabi.

I never understood the gabi hate from what I understand From gabi haters is that those people show their true colors of wanting kids to die and never be sad that gabi is a child got brainwashed and their the government propaganda also the whole world will see them as heros if they kill the paradise people also they want to save the whole world. (Then they were shot by a girl on the roof and died.) That phrase referred to Sasha killing the 2 guards that told Gabi to stand back because it was dangerous. To Gabi, Sasha was a true demon and she probably recognized her on the ship and that is the reason she shot her first. War is not simple. Nobody is truly innocent, and especially not from the enemy's perspective. Even though she's merely a teen, she was trained to be a soldier since she was a child. That episode still hurt me a lot. Sasha was my favorite character of the show, yet I cannot even blame Gabi for her death.

OMG. It's been years and I'm still learning something new in AOT😮 From the last episode, it became clear to me about the Tybur's plan to bait Eren and his real hatred towards Eldians. This episode I learned that the story told on the stage was real and not made up just to paint Eren as the enemy. King Fritz really chose peace and lived in Paradis Island but the Tybur family didn't tell a single truth until an outsider without the royal blood stole the founding titan's power. It is indeed a real threat to the whole world but things could've been handled better if both parties atleast try to talk to each other.

It was at this point Eren knew that no matter what he does he can't change the future. It is set in stone.
