I love how it starts portraying Santa as the villain, but in reality, it's just that those two don't get along well.

This is the episode I remember best from his time, though I only saw the first season. The line, "Every Christmas is last Christmas" makes me cry just thinking about it. It's such a good line and is far too true. The scene it features in is so heartbreaking as well. (Also the dig at tangerines is uncalled for. Tangerines are better than oranges, Doctor! lol xD)

We all agree that Santa is a Time-Lord right? His sleigh is a TARDIS, which is how he delivers all the world's presents in one night and how he carried all of them and he's been around for hundreds of years because Time Lords are functionally immortal.

Ecclestone was the doctor and later played a major bad guy in Thor 2 Tennant was the doctor and later played a major bad guy in Harry Potter 4 Smith was the doctor and later played a major bad guy in Terminator 5. I wonder what Capaldi will become once the doctor obtains a new face...

The hilarity of this entire encounter cannot be overstated: To start with, Santa is real Clara can't believe it despite knowing a time traveling alien Santa doesn't understand why he was recognized (until his wisecracking elves point it out) said wisecracking elves point out what they believe to be rather improbable parental giftgiving (despite Santa frankly being less likely even given his existence) "Because you're a fairytale, I grew out of fairytales" "did you? Did you really" *CUE TARDIS MATERIALIZING!* And to top it all off, the rivalry!

"Every Christmas is last Christmas" and "You will always look the same to me, Clara Oswald" will always define this episode. And we get Dan Starkey not being Strax, but he is an elf. And, yes, I love Jenna Coleman.

Looks like Clara picked up the “Shut Up” mannerisms from the Doctor.

"Every Christmas is last Christmas." I never forgotten that quote since I saw the episode.

Love this because Clara elope with the doctor again at the end ;))

Doctor Who is the best at capturing the Christmas spirit.

I always assumed Santa was just The Doctor. I mean... not the The Doctor we know but when he gets old... err and tires of saving the world every Christmas Eve he would just pop around and give the world presents. And then just sprinkle some hypnotic snow over the adults to make them think they bought all those gifts... idk. Alright I’ll stop now, let someone else turn this into a fanfic, if it isn’t already.🎄

3:57 and 3:59 They played Hartnell-Baker & Eccleston/Tennant’s closing theme sound. Then they played Capaldi’s closing theme sound. Love it.

It's a shame that Simon Pegg wasn't cast as an elf for this episode

I didn’t understand the tangerine thing either...until I asked my folks. It’s a cultural thing from back in the day that you’d have more than presents you’d also have fresh small oranges out in like a cornucopia.

I know this may sound daft but I'm confused about where Clara lived. First, she lived in a high rise flat, then here she lives in a rather nice house with a strange door to the roof, then in series 9 she's back in the flat. What happened to the house? Was it Danny's? Was it handed back to the bank, sold, or did it burn down after she went off with the Doctor because she forgot to turn the oven off? Hmmm...sprouts!

+LoriCiani I think it causes issues mostly because Series 8 feels like meant to cover at least multiple years, if not longer in "current time". I suspect she moved back to her apartment, or similar one. I like those stairs so I really didn't mind - and it was really nice urban setting for Zygon eps.
