Are You Praying the Right Way?

Are you praying the right way? Have you stopped praying altogether?
Many of us know the pain of unanswered prayer. We cried out for something, and it didn't happen the way we hoped. As a result, we gave up praying and believed the lie that God isn't listening.
But what if all that was needed was changing our approach to prayer? Just like there are different approaches needed for different types of sports, there are different approaches for different types of prayers.
In this episode of Conversations with John and Lisa Bevere, we explore the various types of prayer and how the right approach can lead to powerful results.
Tune in to discover how to uncover the secret to effective prayer.

At the beginning of this year my autistic 14 yr old was banned from public school. We are struggling with self harm. And I have found myself sitting on the couch with him every day, all day until dad returns from work. I just hold him all day, with 7 other children to tend to. Life is presently difficult. But, these podcasts have helped encourage me not to give up. And my husband and I are believing Isaiah 48 ... we're praying for an all of a sudden moment. We believe! Thank you for pouring out what Holy Spirit reveals!

So sorry Mrs J-Ray that your Son was bannad from that school! I pray for you! 7 times back to you! In the Bible is also written that for your shame you will have double. Your son also will get double and seven times back! So nice of you to hold your son so he will feel calm but understand it is not easy with seven children! Yes,good to stand on scriptures trusting the Lord! I pray for help in your situation! Such a heart you have for your son and your children! Thats is wonderful to see! God wants our children to be our gold but loving God first. Children need time and love from their parents. That is important and you do a great job! You have big wage in heaven! Life can be tuff. I also has suffered very much and go through things but God gives back eaven if some in heaven and we also go through things. When you suffer you can think about that Yeshua/Jesus suffered most for you! Our suffering is just a drop in a sea in the suffering he had for us at Calvary in his deep love! He was abandoaned for us we see in Ps 22 and he has a warm and compassionate heart and is crushed for people in pain by compassion in pain! He cares and is there in all carrying you! He surrounds you with his love we see in Ps 139:5! It is good to read about how the Messiah Yeshua/Jesus suffered for you for instance in Isaias 53 as is like a poem about his deep suffering love giving all for the sheep also showing the warm and compassionate of the Father,ABBA,Daddy who sent him! He gave all for us,John 3:16! I think it is good to put on christian songs when it is tuff and to worship lifts and sing christian songs. The Bible is a Book with much comfort, too. You do need to feel selfharm. You are so precious for Yeshua and in Song of Solomo we see a lot of a right self-picture in Yeshua for instance that you are like a rose among thorns, special for him and that you are so precious for the heavenly Bridegroom Yeshua! He is crushed by his love to you we also see in Song of Solomo! See your value! 💎 You also have done a great job with your son and take care of seven children! That is amazing! I pray for you all! About value in Isaias 49 is written also that you are not forgotten for God and is like a precious child for God and written in his hands! 🤲💎💙 Yeshua/Jesus is the Star of Hope,Rev 22:16! 🌟 He loves you so! ❤️🙏 Take care! ❤ 🇮🇱❤️🌍❤️

Guys. I loooove your podcasts. This one gave me anxiety. Not because it was about prayer, because this is something I really want to grow more and more in. But, because of all the interrupting and rushing and back and forth. If your videos are one hour or more I will watch them. Please don’t feel rushed. Please take your time. ❤

I agree. It seemed to me that John and Lisa had two different directions they wanted to go in sharing the information. Lisa seemed to be focused on laying a foundation regarding how to pray which would include the spiritual maturity level of all listeners and build from there, John seemed to begin sharing more spiritually mature content without the basic foundation which could confuse or alienate some viewers. This seemed to be a struggle during most of the video between John and Lisa. Lisa kept trying to simplify what John was saying while John continued on his intellectual teaching without understanding what Lisa was trying to accomplish.

Another observation I had regarding this video is that it seemed that John saw Lisa’s role in this discussion much how he utilizes Arden’s presence in the John Bevere podcast. She seemed to be seen as a sidekick much like Ed McMahon was on the old Johnny Carson show. I don’t think Lisa saw herself in that role but instead as an equal contributor to the conversation. It also appeared that the two had previously constructed notes to follow regarding how and when information would be shared. Lisa continued to refer to the notes in an attempt to get the conversation on track while John did not but instead spoke from his independent thought process. This seemed to frustrate Lisa throughout the video.

However, whenever videos/messages are given together, Lisa’s constant interruptions is frustrating. Please let him speak. He always lets you speak and never interrupts you. Give him the same honor. When you interrupt him, you’re also interrupting the audience’s understanding of the message 😩

About an hour before watching this program I was praying for a homosexual couple that I counsel. As I was praying I just felt like my heart wasn't in it but I always pray the same thing for everyone that God would reveal to them the seriousness of their sins and allow them to have a tender heart and for them to confess their sins and forsake their sins and for God to bring salvation knowledge to them. When I pray this I usually am confident that God is going to answer my prayer but for some reason I stopped in the middle of my prayer and ask God why am I paying these prayers because I just didn't feel like anything really happens. Then I kept praying and I asked God I said does anything really happen when I pray and then I was thinking that this is a part of love command for people that God has given me. God loves people and to show that we love people we are to pray. And praying as if I was pray for myself that's what the Holy Spirit said that it it delivers us from selfishness and helps us. When you pray for others as if we were in the very same situation they were in and desperately needed prayer. Pray that He will open eyes that they can see the state that they're in. I pray a lot for people, but sometimes recently I just been having a different feeling about it but I think it's all warfare I will keep praying in Jesus name and believing for people all around the world to be saved

I just wanted to share this testimony. I literally went to bed last light having a cry within not knowing what to pray for. I had no idea that’s when you should pray in tongues. But I just went to bed. I woke up today and the Bible verse on my phone for 7/2/24 and it was Proverbs 18:1 so I immediately started prophecying I will have a vibrant and transformative prayer life. I was asking God the night before what am I not doing right. I felt lead to write that down as a Decree and Declaration and then this video pops up on my timeline! I knew instantly it was God! Lol I’m starting to see how things like this require obedience because had I not done those steps this video still would of popped up on my timeline but I would’ve never known it was God answering my prayer ❤ wow

Do we really want to point to “the power of prayer” as the focus as to the power to change things, instead of God Himself? God works, prayer is the way to be in contact with the one who does the work. The statement that “prayer works” can take God out of the equation and puts my effort up front and as a work to achieve my desires ultimately devolving into the power of positive thinking. Great discussion here.

I think that prayer first is a relation! God wants he to be a Friend first. This we see for instance in Song of Solomo about the passion to the Bridegroom Yeshua, the first love to him, friendship a relation not in lawishness but in warmness in his love and grace not intercession first but he in the center like in love with him the heavenly Bridegroom as we see in Song of Solomo. In Song of Solomo we for instance see that in chapter 2:14 that he loves to hear our voice and a friendship during the day speaking with him as a friend and also listening. Yes,to pray in tounges is important and yes God can put in your heart to pray for anybody. It happened to me this night when God showed me to pray specific for a relative and yes for nations, too, but it is important that God is in the center first in the relation,he in the focus. Intercession is important but he as a person first. Worship also is important and also has with the relation with God to do and God wants us to live in worship,Ps 100:4 lifting him up as we see for instance in Acts in chapter 16 when Paul and Silas worshiped.Yes,thanksgiving is important. It is close to worsship and 1 Tess 5:18 tells us to in all give thanks and in Col 4:2 shows us about intercession WITH thanksgiving giving God glory with him in the center. I think you feel too stressed John and I have a feeling that you need to calm down some in your life. Calm down and take time with the Lord! Ps 23:2 about to rest. Relations also are important but God first Matt 6:33. Yes,faith and gospel. To share is important! I use to do every day because I feel the burden for people that they need Yeshua/Jesus but he first in the center! First we need God in the relation to him, then we need each other. Relations are important like they lived in Acts. Then you need not to be too stressed. About America God will shake America but an awakening will come God for instance showed. Revival and change is coming in Church global too. Yes,we always need to pray! I will pour out my Spirit in this new era like never been seen before, says the Lord! I am searching after a people after my heart who seek me with a humble and contrite spirit seeking me and my ways, says the Lord! 2 Chron 7:14! Isaias 57:15,a humble and contrite spirit,Matt 5,meekness,Luke 6 having a poor spirit meaning feeling poor and longing for more od God,humbleness. Yes,we need to seek God in situations and always! Yeshua is our Bread, the Bread, the Bread of life,John 6:35 and he is the Word,John 1:1 and the Word is our Bread, the Food! We need our daily Bread! Meditate on the Word day and night we understand in Joshua 1:8 and we see here not to let the Word depart from our mouth meaning we can speak or sing scriptures loud every day. We also can read or sing directly from the Bible and for others. God bless you and shalom! I pray for you and pray continually for America but do not live in America! I celebrate Americas nationalday! Then I will fetch an american flag as I have and pray for America. America is in my heart. I have distant relatives in America, too. I will pray for you at Americas nationalday. 🇺🇲❤️ I wish you a Happy Nationalday! I think God showed me that Trump comes back and about big change in the White House God showed. I have got other things for America, too, but share any of it here. God bless you both! ❤🙏

Please stop talking over each other and doing the one upmanship thing. We need to hear and learn all you both have to share on the topic of prayer. All prayer is warfare and why it can be difficult at times. Please share more examples of prayers in Scripture. For example Abraham's servants prayer in Genesis 24. This prayer very conversational to his masters God. Or the short prayer released by Nehemiah whilst talking to the king. Neh. 2:4-6. Or King David and his prayers recorded in Psalms. Believers can get discouraged by the idea of prayer when they feel it has to be formulaic or complicated. Just talk to God. He hears and sees or heart. Psalm 18:6. Psalm 116: 1,2. Loving Shalom

I Enid Flores pray in the Name of Jesus Christ the son of the living God for repentance of God’s people and for leaders that love and adore the Lord Jesus and will follow him with all their heart. I pray asking in Jesus’ Name for all believers globally to repent and walk worthy of the calling He placed on us. Lovely proclaiming the word of salvation (forgiveness of all bad behavior) through Jesus Christ who has the power for those who trust their life to him to live in freedom. And through their efforts effect and affect their Nation to elect, or get behind leaders who are surrendered to Father God through Jesus Christ! Amen!!

I hear this often in the American church, to pray in the Spirit. And honestly I really am very annoyed with this. I didn't grow up in the American church. I'm from Eastern Europe Pentecostal and our churches are quite different (yes of course we believe in praying in tongues), but what about people who don't have the gift of speaking in tongues? Yes, it is real and yes we want it, but haven't reacieved it yet, some of us. You have to understand that, please, not everyone has the gift of praying in tongues. So don't tell people to pray in the Spirit if they don't have that gift or may not even understand what that means. We have people at our church, non American that listen to you guys and they are Baptists. Honestly, I don't think they understand at all when you say, pray in the Spirit. That would be wonderful, but maybe teach on this topic more. I listened a little to Tucker Carlson's interview with the president of El Salvador. From my research, he was raised muslim. His father opened mosques in their country, big muslim leader in their country. I don't know, did his son become a Christian? It's not quite clear. It would be interesting to hear his testimony. Great topic! I learned a lot. A lot of questions were answered. Remember people from different countries now know about you and listen to you. Your audience is not only American so make things relatable (how you phrase things) so all can understand what you say.

I am learning so much from John's messages--I only recently discovered them. But please either stop interrupting one another so much, or have separate podcasts. It's like disrespect and strife. Your message is too important to be delivered in such a way that detracts from it.

This was great and then it got weird talking about politics. As a black Christian I have had to just not take offense to this because being in America that's what we have to constantly deal with. It’s so sad but you can’t wipe the human flesh away from any of us not even the two people above.

Lisa I know you mean no harm, and have a teaching heart and really want us to get it that’s why you keep interrupting and pulling out points, but I assure you we get it and the interruptions is doing the opposite. Please let Him finish. It seems he’s usually heading to the point you are rushing to make. I say this with all humility and no malice. Today was hard/uncomfortable to watch and you do it often but this was hard. If you could pls work on it that would be great. Thank you so much

The election is part of the process for American citizens, but I get concerned when the election becomes a talking point for leaders in the Kingdom of God. Which platform is based on Biblical principles in this election? This country was not built on Biblical principles, but thankfully it doesn't mean that God's people aren't here. We absolutely should pray, but we absolutely should not endorse people who clearly have no reverence for God as part of the political process.

2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version 14 IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. We must partner with God in the earth. He told Adam to subdue the earth. Adam named the animals. God CHOSE to partner with us.
