    In 2021, after 30 plus years, I gave up my career as a photojournalist, I’m just getting into landscapes and your videos are very informative. One thing I need to learn is too slow down and relax.. no deadlines! Glad your back.

    My technique for avoiding the local honeypot / beauty locations is to live in an area that simply has none! LOL I've never seen another landscape photographer when I've been out and about in my local area. Humor aside, a really good video.

    So often I find myself "knowing" that there is "something" there in the scene but I just can't isolate that something to capture it. You offering your process helps. Please keep them coming. Well done!

    Thank you for this video. It was very timely for me. As an aging enthusiast photographer who shoots with an X-t5 and a batch of familiar lenses, I pretty much know how to shoot. The issue always is what to shoot that will result on another photo for my walls. I resonated with your approach and comments 100%.

    More composition / process videos like this please! For those of us that want to get better at landscape photography, these videos are invaluable. Love all the positive ethics throughout too. Great reminder to slow down, and get the most out of the scene you’re seeing even though conditions usually aren’t optimal. This is the field level stuff most photographers don’t want to show for some reason.

    I really enjoyed this. I’m still relatively new to photography so found myself heading off to the honeypot locations. Although I got some really nice images, I just don’t want to print any of them to put on my wall. You are spot on that the process was a bit underwhelming. I’ve found myself recently heading over to scout my local woodland for Autumn compositions and it’s been great fun seeing new images and looking forward to going back when the conditions allow for a print worthy image.

    Really enjoyed this video Ian. A very nice looking woodland. I've found myself looking for images in my local Dartmoor woodlands recently, but the thing I'm always bad at is just slowing down. Next time out I'll be trying some of your tips.

    The thing I like about the waist-level finder of my Hasselblad is that the image is flipped leftright. A trick the old landscape artists used to do is look at the scene through a mirror. It detaches you a little and you see it how it actually is, rather than how you imagine it. I think these digital cameras could easily incorporate a 'flip switch' to allow this...or does it already exist?

  • @ian_worth

    @ian_worth

    i think it would work with a flip screen camera, as you could turn off auto rotate then flip the screen upside down.
