25+ yrs Florida resident. Summer is hard, its basically our winter in terms of being outdoors. If you're somewhat open to nature I highly recommend the vast parks all around the state that are natural springs. The swimming is northeast cold!! The waters are pristine blue, the scenery is spectacular. But if that's not your thing, I would recommend 1 tank road trips to sleepy towns that are kitshy and have that retro Florida vibe. There are so many fun towns that offer amazing local mom and pop restaurant/eateries. I'll tag you a few IG accounts that specialize in what to do and see in Florida. My absolute FAVORITE town to visit is St. Augustine. MUST visit the San Sebastian winery (free wine tour) and a quaint rooftop lounge to enjoy a meal, stunning sunsets while enjoying some live music. The lighthouse there is alot of fun to climb and see the view. And the midnight ghost tours are a must!! There are all kinds of music festivals going on, food festivals. Nighttime events are more forgiving in terms of the weather. I'll tag you all the fun things. I know you don't want to fuck with the beach, but seriously, the sunsets on the west coast are STUNNING. I NEVER go to the beach until the late afternoon. No sooner than a 5pm arrival time. The heat is gone and the ocean breeze is EVERYTHING!! The tourists are basically gone, so its much more intimate. SO RELAXING. True Floridians know not to go until late afternoon. Don't block me!!🥸

When I say that I cannot recommend the podcast Radio Rental enough, I mean you will binge it in a day. It’s narrated by Rainn Wilson (dwight from the office, he is amazing) and its a spooky show where people tell their own scary stories, and nothing is ever like gruesome it’s just chilling and so fun. Highly recommend, if i didn’t say that already. Also the podcast Swindled - the best podcast out there, in my opinion, if you are interested in true crime… but make it white collar and capitalism. Both are on spotify :) ❤

Swamp tour on an air boat! That was my favorite in Florida. I know it's on water, but it was cool when the boat was moving from the wind.

Do the Apopka wildlife drive! You will see gators and can stay in your car! Some people are crazy and get out of their car but those gators are all over! It is a long drive so bring snacks and use the potty before you go in. It is neat though. Also, I do a lot of arts and crafts in the summer. There are tons of artsy places to take classes. My son and I even go to coffee shops a lot and draw and enjoy getting out of the house.

I am in Florida. I see a lot of movies. In a nice cold movie theater or go to the mall. I see gators frequently. But yes!!! Summers are brutal here!!!!!

I’m a bit sad. My husband started a wonderful new job. But it requires lots of traveling. He’s been gone since Monday in Detroit and I’m alone in Winchester Ky. I’m disabled too so I don’t get out unless I’m going to the doctor. Can’t drive either. Missing him so much. We have been today for 6 and a half years and married almost 3. Haven’t slept alone for over 5 years. But I’ll be fine. Also we found abandoned 2 week old kittens last week so I’ve been raising them. It’s been a whole lot all at once.

I know you said no water buttttt crystal river Florida is amazing! They have clear blue rivers and the manatees stay! Such a cool experience and you can rent a glass bottom boat or kayak!

Sanford zoo , the science museum and the historical museum are all so great

omg this will forever be my absolute favourite and comfort podcast.

Winds of Change is one of my favorite podcasts ever; it's pretty short, but very good. Also, Behind the Bastards, Sawbones, Oh No! Ross and Carrie, and one that ended but was good The Indoor Kids.

One of my fave podcasts is Ridiculous Crime. They're 99% murder free and its all things like ridiculous art heists or scams or really rubbish burglars 😂

The podcast Dark History by Bailey Sarian is so fun and interesting!

The tinted hydrator in the baby blue tube by wet nwild is also sooo good! Finding a decent color is hard but when you do.. holt FUUCK.

Best podcast ever: Maintenance Phase... deep dive debunking of wellness industry bullshit. Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbs are brilliant and hilarious. Good one to start with is the Belle Gibson: illness influencer episode. But they are all terrific.

Summer activity recommendation ... Visit a freshwater spring. The water temperature stays around 72 degrees. Tubing down the Ichetucknee Spring is a favorite.

Girl, this year is going by SO FAST for sure. I cant believe its already almost June 🫣 its funny how when you are young time seems to move so slowly but once you are older it just flies by 😂💜

Time is going by scary fast! And of course, depending on what’s going on determines if it feels faster or slower, in that moment. Especially related to trips that a person is looking forward to. One minute that trip seems like so long away and you cannot wait, the next minute, it’s over!

I got super into podcasts when I worked overnights in a bakery, so here are my favorites: Astonishing Legends, The Midnight Library, The Box of Oddities, The Shallow End, Noble Blood, and Ologies. ^_^

New shows to consider watching, keeping in mind that you liked Severance and Shrinking, which I also loved, I am really enjoying The Big Door Prize. It’s currently in its second season on Apple. It’s a really different show and probably takes some time to get into it, but it’s worth it. Don’t know if you’d like it, but I am also into a much more serious Sci-Fi show on Apple, Dark Matter. You asking about fun things to do in Florida in the Summer brought back so many memories. My parents dragged my pale ass to Florida almost every July as a kid. My favorite things to do were hang out in the hotel and watch TV, eat take out in the hotel, take cold showers and fall asleep with the air conditioning on full blast. 😂

Scamfluencers is an amazing podcast. The hosts are hilarious and the stories are wild.

When I’m in Florida, I do any outdoor things in the AM. afternoons are for naps and inside stuff. I venture back outside around sunset.

‘Behind the bastards’ is one of my fav podcasts, also ‘wait wait don’t tell me’. TVshows, if you haven’t watched the ‘Sherlock’ series that came out a few years ago with Benedict Cumberbatch it’s really good!

I love listen to audiobooks that you can check out for free from your local library. It's helping get me through Stephen Kings bibliography!

NADDPOD is an awesome podcast… it’s actual play dnd but the people are all College Humor cast members and they are hilarious. The storytelling is amazing. I also love Dark History with Bailey Serian and all of Mr. Ballen’s various podcasts.

Evil is a great show, I'm so happy it wasn't cancelled during the pandemic. A podcast i've been binge-ing (they upload here on YT) is Behind the Bastards. It isn't true crime but does cover both notorious & famous people throughout history & why they are actually a bastard.

My favorite podcast is Timesuck! Some episodes cover true crime, but others cover historical events or people or cults. It’s informative but also hilarious and irreverent. 3/5 stars, wouldn’t change a thing! 😄

And I was going to say the beach 😆 I've lived here my whole life and I just don't go outside in the summer. But seriously, a visit to any of the springs in the area could be good. The water is a brisk 72 degrees and crystal clear. Several have ecotours, so you might finally see some gators 🐊 St Augustine is nice, plenty of great restaurants, historical sites and buildings, shopping, etc. Basically, anywhere you decide to go, you will likely still sweat your balls off, but at least you won't be packed in like sardines like at a theme park.

I don't live in Florida, but I do live in a place where the summer heat turns my town into a brutalist hellscape. My best suggestion for survival is to become a night creature. I grocery shop at like 10 pm on Fridays. I also deal with idiots all day at work so I feel every word you say.

Florida Caverns is worth a drive. There’s also a waterfall up there called Falling Waters. The Kennedy Space Center is a whole day trip too. This is all stuff we’re doing this summer, along with rainbow river, but I know you said no bodies of water.

Im a Florida native, sorry to say but beach or river is pretty much it for summer activities because its too blistering hot for anything else 😂😂😂😂 guess I’m blocked 😅 yeaaa for Kissimmee/Orlando? Oooof.. just wandering around Millenia mall or going to watch a play/theatre production is what I did. Or catching a food festival but only after 5 when the sun isn’t beating down

Hey Gorgeous! We lived in the swamp land for about a year. My ole man was going to the Motorcycle Institute in Orlando. and I worked low paying jobs to not get by 🤷‍♀️. We did have a lot fun though. We could go to the bar and play shuffle board and darts that didn't cost anything. Have a could beer's of course 😊. Biker parties every weekend! The memories are the best! Met amazing peeps from all over the place! True friends that have become family ❤. We watched a lot of television. All of our adventures were a lot of fun. We never went to the beach or had a pool. All of this happened before computers or the internet. No cell phones. We had to use a pay phone! Couldn't afford a land-line. We lived down there in the 80's! I think Epcot was the newest attraction 😂! We were able to go check it out before moving back to Michigan. A coworkers brother worked at Disney and was generous to get us into the park!!! What a fantastic place! Sorry I wasn't able to give to many ideas for you to check out. Love drugstore makeup!❤❤❤
