Yeah, I needed this. Been on a huge dry spell ever since my captain benched me at the Amateur World Championships in Vegas. I still make great shots and incredible runs but always choke just enough to lose the matches. I'm 1-9 in the current season for 8-ball and 9-ball combined even though I qualified last season for Best of the Best in 9. And I used to finish out seasons at 70% win rate or more. Now I'll be lucky for a 40%. I spend too much time telling myself that if I don't break and run more often than not, I'm not good enough.

Just gotta keep at I guess. The balls roll funny for everyone. Last night I was absolutely hopeless for about 2 hours. I missed like 6 shots in the same pocket and started thinking I was cursed or something. Then I started freewheeling and everything came together and I started stringing racks.
@SpaceboyBilliards
5 жыл бұрын
@@BaconFrisbee For sure. I've won 7 ghost 9 ball racks in a single hour just to turn around and win 0 in about 5 hours. I've only been playing for two years and have beaten people who have been playing for money for 20+ years. Just havebto be patient and build consistently. My best warmup is just throwing balls on the table and shooting anything with no rhyme or reason. I don't know why, but it builds my confidence immensely and dials in my stroke and I shoot low percentage shots during the warmup with confidence because there's nothing on the line. Just need it to translate over.

There's no better feeling than when you get in the zone and you feel like you can't miss. I had a game last night where there was about every shot you can imagine: a long thin cut down the rail past the side pocket, a cross corner bank, a carom, and a breakout shot on the 8. It was a really messy table, but I just fired at everything and got perfect shape
@SpaceboyBilliards

I think it would be fun to watch a tournament on old, worn-out tables with lots of divots, tears, and warping, complete with old chipped-up balls. It would be a totally different game with more misses and more randomness, which would be an interesting challenge for pros who are used to playing with perfect balls on a perfect table. Heck, maybe some barroom player who knows how to navigate those challenges would come out on top, as I could see perfectionist-types really getting frustrated by having to play out of their element.

It's like watching Baseball or Football in bad weather. It changes the game immensely and is fun to watch. I remember playing on an extremely shitty cloth and trying to do a draw shot, I had to murder the ball in order to get any. I'd love to watch these pros play on a shitty table just to see what happens.
@myblacklab7

@@bbplay13 Totally! I love bad-weather games too. If I can find some investors, I want to create an alternative billiard tournament circuit designed for spectator entertainment instead of only catering to players, sponsors, and the 1,000 or so die-hards who have the patience to still watch American pocket billiards (and I think almost everyone who is a "fan" is also a tournament-level player, or a retired pro). My friend has a hilariously quirky MFT table that is very challenging - slow finesse shots are always curveballs, and hard shots pop out of the pocket about 30% of the time. Pool snobs wouldn't get near that table, but we have a lot of fun, and I've learned a lot about table effects, such as why the best barroom hustlers tend to shoot with a bit more velocity than the pros.

Efren misses: Laughs Earl misses: My hand was cold, the place was warm, the place was cold, the table was too new, the table was too old, the ball moved, I didn't get enough sleep, my hand was sore, the air conditioner was on, someone made a noise in the crowd, my opponent gave me a weird stare, the air was too thick, I slipped. Clearly Earl is the best player.

Professional biliard seem to be tough sport. Whenever you miss, the whole audience sighs with disbelief quite loudly, followed by silence and then the commentator says: "I'm not surprised." 😸

Alex the lion pagalayan still kills me. such a great match and he chocked, I felt so bad.
The pressure can hit you like a tornade sometimes.
Thats why nobodys perfect even the legends commits mistake....
I can literally tell when they are going to miss cue
Everytime i screw i keep doing that.. Makin the ball fly
A few of these ARE more missable than it seems at first glance, even by pros, on rare occasions, especially when they are really having to move a cue ball, so the shot is hit hard, and the pocket needs significant cheating. All it really takes is a momentary lapse in concentration.

The guy at 1:10 was playing off the rail - he got perfect position, the pool gods just didn’t let it go in!
The Pagulayan one was a pretty bitter accident. Even Shaw looked bitter by a win like that.... 6:21 Was it legal to put a lamp under the table like that? It looked like it shone right to his right eye. Can't be ideal when aiming a very important ball like that....

Almost every one will has bad mood when they missing the last ball, is almost every one will be nervous when they all have only the last Mach.
Those rail shots are always tougher
I'm questioning my skills
oh no pagulayan. heartbreak.😂
yea ppl gave me crap about missing easy shots,i told them even the best pool players of the world miss on easy shots
With how low some of them are aiming it's almost like they are asking for it
This is the shit that happens to me when I try to put backspin on the cue ball. Ho ass ball just wants to jump half the time.
Has this video been edited down? I swear the end used to include some shots from a match with Efren Reyes
You could do a whole video only with SVB missing shots in the Mosconi Cup.
I notice like 99% of these are draw shots, which makes me feel better about the fact that I can't make a draw to save my life.
Efren has missed a lot of easy shots that is why he is the greatest.
In one of reyes intense game he emptied the pocket just to make sure it wont jump over. Sometimes the umpire forgets his job.
If you take a shot on and you are uncertain in your mind you tend to miss it. If you play every shot confidently then you will hardly miss. It's not always the best play that will be win, it's the player that can handle nerves the best. Some people can handle it better than others. Saying that you can just have a bad day. I for example play better pool at evenings and nights compared to afternoons. Sometimes it feels like I'm playing with someone else's arms and can't pot a ball.
2:57 his hand is really shaking
