I got 13 on the top of my melon. I was 39 at the time. No numbing of any sort. I got a tetanus shot in one arm whilst the second lil minion proceeded to ‘chunk chunk chunk’ staples into my head without any warning. Brutal. It didn’t close up very well either. I’ve got a pretty nice scar there

I had staples on the front of my head, my forehead to be exact. Wanna know why? My cousin hit me in the head, albeit was an accident, with a bat. She wanted to show me how she could hit a rock. Nailed me right in the head. Luckily nothing broke but the skin

Just recently had to staple a laceration on my leg, while I was on a hike far away from anyone. I always had a stapler like that sealed and sterile in my pack, for emergencies. Never had to use it before, and it worked perfectly and didn't even hurt that much. Crazy efficient and easy/intuitive to use. I recommend one of these and a staple remover, if you are an outdoors person. The wound was fixed up in minutes, and it gave me the possibility to reach safety without getting my wound dirty and infected. (which can be catastrophic in a survival situation) Healed up nicely and quickly, while still out and about.

@@brunnrunn I was surprised to hear from them, that I did a very good job. They said suturing with thread and needle would have been better. But with what I had on hand out there it couldn't have gone better. Of course they asked if it was really necessary to go further than a bandage, but it was deep and ugly enough to warrant mechanical closure of the wound, otherwise I wouldn't have done it. The laceration/tear was inflicted by a broken glass bottle sticking out of some vegetation I passed through. It stabbed me into my leg and ripped out sideways. It was bleeding profusely and was too wide for anything less than stitching or staples.

I experienced the pain of those staples when I was only 6 years old. My sister through this fuel hose cup-link at my head after I said no to moving.(she was 5) I was rushed to the ER on Base and I had to be held down by my dad while my mom held my legs down as the doctors cleaned the wound and saw that my skull wasn’t broken but they had to stop the bleeding so they used staples without numbing the area first. They did it afterwards to help easy the pain. I got a juice pack and chips as well as a blanket out of it.

I’ve gotten hundreds of stitches in my life and it’s to the point where I request to not get freezing and I really like to watch haha; I’ve got more questions than pain. I’ve always made jokes with doctors and even helped a few by passing them their instruments while they are busy bringing my skin back together. It’s so interesting to learn and I’ve even been the subject for a few students learning and shadowing doctors stitching some lacerations I’ve had. I think after learning more and more I either want to enter med school, or learn how to self-administer sutures.

Staples are preferred when there's a lot of tension in the area/thinner skin (like the scalp/head/back of the hand etc), or where there's a higher chance of infection, because they don't penetrate as deeply into the tissue as stitches do.

Staples were the WORST. They are fine for the first 48 hours, but once your body starts healing the itching & soreness kicks in. I find them to be tantamount to torture. I always took them out 2-3 days early! ❤️🖖🏼

I ended up sealing a nearly 3 inch laceration a friend got playing with sharp knife with super glue, medical paper tape and neosporine and it actually worked and he only has a faint pink line several years later, he never got any medical attention for it, i just washed it, held it tight together and taped around the leg once i had it where it was supposed to be and super glued the ends added the neo and then tore off essentially butterfly suture band aids i fashioned, then carefully connected like laces, then more neo, and then i had a single large gauze square i taped around relatively tight and had him sleep with his leg high up with a saw table horse and a pillow on it, then later that night i made a sort of hammock and attached it to the ceiling with and eye bolt to suspend his leg like a slimg even higher up. I urged him to seek medical care the next day and he said he would but he ended up just keeping it clean and bandage changed and bought actual butterfly suture bandaid strips and the neo sealed that up perfectly!!! It was pretty incredible considering how much blood and how wide and long the gash was.

My dad was in intense pain where the staples were left, and we couldnt afford another hospital or ER visit, so he went outside to his polebard and litterally took out the last 2 himself with a pair of pliers. Those hurt alot coming out from experience. Had to get mine taken out like 5 days early due to infection from them. Body was rejecting them.

My mom had surgery on her shoulder when I was young and the staples really freaked me out. It was just something I never heard of and to a young kid staples belong in paper not people lol

I got 5 staples in the back of my head, and the pain was excruciating. They couldn't put any lidocaine, so I got the full effect of pain. I could feel my heartbeat at the laceration site for a few minutes after the doctor was done. The doctor lied to me too. He asked me if I ever got stung by a bee. I said yes. He said it feels just like a bee sting. I know the people in the emergency room could hear me swearing and dropping F-Bombs from my room, and the door was closed. After the doctor was done, I asked what kind of bees he was getting stung by because that shit was horrible. But when they took them out later, I didn't feel a thing.

I had staples on my head when I was 21, it is not fun because you have to get them taken out when your head is more healed up 😅😅

I had about 40 or more staples on my left arm and like 20-30 in my left hip when the wounds started healing and they took them out it was annoying 😂

I had to get stitches and the doctor used one of these. He gave me freezing with a needle but all he did was poke me with the needle then instintly started stapling. Didn't give any time for the freezing I was like "wtf".

When I was on the USS Belluea Wood, I hit my head on a hatch frame (it is like a I-Beam but goes in a complete circle or oval) but it gave me a concussion and laceration in my head. I received 17 staples to close that wound it is the weirdest sensation feeling the staples scrape your skull.

Using the stapler itself to move the skin results in staples that twist and tug- please dont! Not every staple but sometimes

God i hate staples. They leave worse scarring than the actual incision itself.
