The Catholic Church in Germany consists mainly of apostates and they preach the same as the Unitarian Universalists but using a more Christian language. The problem lies deeper: The Catholic Church markets her unity as a proof for her truth. But that unity between neoorthodox and liberal Catholics is an illusion for liberal Catholics are not even Christians. If Pope Francis will not act, the German church will fall completely into heresy. In Germany, there are 85% of bishops liberal promoting homosexuality.

I feel like the Holy Father is exposing an evil that had been hiding in the shadows. The faithful in Germany now have to be stronger and stand for truth. Light and dark will become more obvious. It’s all purification. In what appears a heavy blow may actually be a blessing. His is purifying us.

Guess I should have read the comments before I commented lol (see above). Looks like others noticed that one too. Maybe it's just because I've only been Catholic for just over a year-ish (officially anyway), but I have to say that little remark at 5:02 smarted a bit for me as a Canadian. We need Catholics in other nations to think of Canada and pray for us. The Church here is in a battle just as anywhere else on the globe, and the larger narrative in the media about the increasing liberalism and apostasy doesn't detract from the fact that the invisible Church and the Catholics who, as Ralph said, "know the voice of the true Jesus Christ," continue to wage that battle fiercely and daily. Please don't hear a rebuke here, simply a comment about how I heard Matt's remark and my initial response. Blessings to you.

When discussing the Great Apostasy around 5:02, Matt, when Ralph was pointing out places that used to be Catholic and have walked away, he said, "think of Canada," and you said quietly that you try not to. I'm a Canadian and chose to become Catholic in the midst of the first Covid lockdowns, and I need to gently (but perhaps a bit sternly) ask you to please think of us, and ask your viewers to think of us and pray for us. So many Canadian Catholics likely watch Pints with Aquinas, find freedom through STRIVE21, and seek the eternal continuation of Conservative Catholic values. I chose to become Catholic because the Church of Rome seems to be the only one that has the WHOLE truth, and the only one OFFICIALLY keeping its values intact, despite the fact that some deep cracks in some of the clergy's theological and philosophical solidity can be detected (including perhaps even the Holy Father's). I know it was maybe just a bit of a flip response on your part, but it hurt a little, and so I'll ask for you and your viewership to consider Canada and pray for her and the Church within her borders. We need your prayers as desperately as the Church in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. And I will pray for you as well, brother. Bless you for all you do to advance the faith and herald the coming Kingdom.

I suffer from lupus, and heart disease. I’m now waitressing and so thankful to be working but I’m not making nearly enough to get by. I have two beautiful boys both are autistic. I’m overwhelmed because they require so much from me. I recently started homeschooling them because they were having so many issues with bullying. I feel so alone. It’s only because of the kindness of strangers I still have a place to call home. I’m fearful because every month is a struggle to not end up on the streets with my boys. We might be seeing more lawlessness in our local areas now than we have during our lifetimes in our own, but that doesn't make it uniquely bad. For that matter, I'm not even seeing any noticeable increase in lawlessness where I live, though I hear about it in places like New York City and San Francisco.

Ralph sounds like a protestant. At 1:00 he says that we're going to have to decide who we can trust and who we can believe and who we can follow. Essentially, he's saying that we all have to become our own pope. We don't have to decide anything of the sort. The Holy Spirit has always protected, is protecting, and will always protect and guide the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. All we have to do is to follow the Church founded on St. Peter by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • @Sim0n-kv8jb

I think Mr Martin's analysis is very Western centered. Just because the US is going through a rough time politically and socially, and the Church is having problems in the West generally, doesn't mean that we're in the end times. The Church is flourishing in big parts of Africa and Asia for example, and the kind of depravity we can observe in the West is not prevalent in other areas of the world. Jesus did the unexpected at every turn, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the time of His return will play out the same way.

The easy Biblical answer is: it isn’t our business. Only God the Father knows the exact timing of the end. We aren’t supposed to obsess over the times. We are supposed to spread the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. If you want the end to come faster, share Jesus with someone today.

POPE BENEDICT XVI: Jesus “does not describe the end of the world, and when he uses apocalyptic images, he is not acting the prophet. On the contrary, he wants to stop his disciples of every epoch from being curious over dates and forecasts, and wants to give them the key to... the right road to walk today and tomorrow to enter into eternal life.” While Catholics believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it is true, one cannot take individual biblical quotes or passages and say each one is literally true.”

Every day we come closer to the end. All we can do is practice faith and obedience in the face of adversity. But event X happening now doesn’t mean the end times any more than past events (some of them worse than what we ever experienced) are signs of it. Our Lord said nobody can know the day. So, when we are aware of our own failings, that is the time to repent. When we are aware of others failings, let us practice charity in response, remembering Our Lord’s words about beams and splinters.

“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. And at that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will deceive many. And because lawlessness is multiplied, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in the whole world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭7‬-‭14‬ ‭LSB‬‬)

Doesn't this indicate there's something to be said for "low-church" Christianity? These days it is the bureaucracy that seems to be getting in the way, as the high-church strains turn down paths I find myself unable to follow. As a US Protestant, I'm highly conscious of the deficits of my own tradition. I'm quite sympathetic towards Catholicism, I love the mass, and have thought of converting, but so few of my Catholic friends know their Bibles. The real dangers of Protestant fundamentalism aside, it is really a spectacular achievement of Protestantism to get Bibles available for anyone to read. Scripture is plain on the important things. We must believe this. It is my hope that we are moving towards greater ecumenicism to stand strong against the evil one. Really appreciate this channel and its content.

This is why we need to take care of the liturgy. In the Anglican church people divide into parishes based on the form of liturgy they prefer - unlike Catholic church the 'high' church tends towards liberal and the evangelical towards conservative. I don't like to even use these words, but I believe it's essential that we celebrate all forms of liturgy in a single parish. And keep dialogue and praying with one another going. It also concerns me that social media is a divisive force where theological / pastoral discourse disintegrates into a place where differences are emphasised . For sure there are important issues at stake but thank God, in England at the moment our parishes are holding together and I don't see what seems (on the basis of these kinds of programmes) to be happening in the US.

"Intellectual or otherwise..." I assume by "otherwise" you mean the spiritual maturity and level of faith that nurtures the connection between the Christian and the Holy Spirit dwelling in him or her which enable the believer (intellectual or otherwise) to recognize the voice of the real Jesus Christ and differentiate it from the voices of the world, the flesh, and the devil. If that's what you meant, I might suggest that your "fear" here is a legitimate concern that came into your mind because the Lord wants His Church to be aware of the truth, to know it, and to speak it. Maybe you're being called to nurture that capacity for discernment in yourself and become someone whom others can seek help from in nurturing that capacity in themselves.

Church dogma is usually defined through Councils. As for the Catechism, St. Pope John-Paul II declared that the Catechism is a sure norm for the faith. So, if you want to go by Papal teaching on faith and morals, there you are. On a matter of faith and morals, the Pope said we were to follow the Catechism as a sure norm.

I don't see any reason to believe that we are in the end times. Looking at history and particularly Church history can really give you a sense that our era is not unique in presenting terrible trials for humanity and the Church. Imagining what it must have been like for Catholics during events like the French Revolution, the Black Death, or the Second World War, it is not hard to conceive of those times - without the benefit of hindsight - seeming to be the worst of all times. So, also, as we are concerned for Church and society, we can think about great and widespread heresies like Arianism and Protestantism. Or, for that matter, the tremendous sundering of the faithful between East and West in the Great Schism. It's easy to see our own era as the worst because we live in it, we know its evils well, and we don't have the hindsight to know how it all will turn out. But, in reality, we've faced great evils before and likely will again - quite possibly long after our own mortal lives have run their course. I see no reason that to say that, when Christ returns, humanity won't be travelling between the stars and living on many different planets. Or it could be tomorrow. I certainly don't know the day or the hour, following what Christ said about the subject.

As Christy said, you don't have to believe it. We should approach this matter with great care and with prudence, it's doubtful whether we can check all the boxes yet. The Great Apostasy - maybe; on the one hand there definitely has been a massive loss of faith across the western world but don't forget: the Western world isn't the whole world. Unrestrained lawlessness - I think it can still get a lot worse and "persecution" so far has been relatively mild in the West, we know way harder scenarios than what we're seeing right now. I also couldn't point to a great number of false miracles at the current moment. I think we shouldn't underestimate the situation but also judge the circumstances critically and cautiously.
